Why older phones slow down (and how to fix it)

Smartphones can make everyday life pretty convenient, but they’re an absolute nightmare when they start to slow down. From apps not working to videos not loading, plenty of smartphone users have waited through the “spinning wheel of death.” So, what exactly causes our devices to slow down, and is there a way to fix it without buying a brand-new phone?

Three of the main reasons for older phones slowing down are as follows:

  1. Software updates and compatibility issues - Some updates can be skipped on older phones, and if do your homework, that might tell you which ones!
  2. Battery degradation - Be strict about charging your phone (for example, avoid excessive temperatures).
  3. Hardware limitations - Adjust settings to prioritise speed over visual effects, and disable unnecessary widgets.

Well, some of these sound doable (like the battery charging) - but to be honest, I'm not so sure about researching each and every software update. That sounds as annoying as the slowness -_- !

So, do you have any other tips of your own?
