If you haven't heard of The Hunger Games, it's safe to say that you have been living under a rock the last 6 years. This franchise became very popular back in 2012 after the first movie was released. For anyone that doesn't know, it is about a dystopian North America where 'the Capital' controls all of the surrounding districts. Due to a war many years ago, every year 2 children are reaped to take part in The Hunger Games, meaning that there are 24 tributes. In the first book, Katniss takes the place of her younger sister and then the plot goes from there.

So, I'm curious, does anyone else like The Hunger Games? Have you read the books? Have you watched the movies (which have a thread of their own, in Stage and Screen)?

I read the books back in 2012 and I was addicted. I watched the first movie first though. There are two character deaths in the last book that irk me but if you know you know.

Thoughts?

It’s a good franchise. I enjoy the books, movies and the OSTs. Of course, I find Nausicaä to be a better soulmate for me since Katniss obviously is happy with Peeta.

I love the series. I haven't really seen the movies, just bits and pieces. But I adore the books. Once I started I went right through them!

I was the same. I've only seen the first movie and I watched that before I read the books. I've watched a few scenes from the other movies and it looks liek they stuck to the plot very closely, which I rate. I read the books in a week when I was 13.

Is it too late to jump into the series at this stage? Am I gonna get overwhelmed by the sheer size a la Lord of the Rings? Because I have always wanted to learn more about this but keep putting it off and... yeah.

And the weather is very nice under the rock, thank you so much :P

It's never too late! The hype has died down a few years ago for sure but it's still worth a watch or read.

I've read the first and second books.  I haven't gotten around to reading the final book yet (no spoilers, please).  I haven't seen any of the movies yet but I do plan on watching them all the way through once I finished the books.  I enjoyed the books (what I've read so far).  I'm just curious to see how it all ends in the final book.  I guess I'll have to get reading.

There are two deaths that depress me in the final book near the end. That's all I'm saying. You definitely should get round to finishing it.
