Space Tourists
#1
I will say that I LOVE astronomy. But while it would be great to be a space tourist, I could not imagine spending that money frivolously. I'd feel too guilty.
As for health problems, I can imagine there would be some, but they'd have to do a complete Physical to be sure humans could handle the ride. But then too, those who can afford to go up in space are the rich who could afford treatments.
Would you want to be a Space Tourist?

I would only want to venture into space for scientific reasons. If I end up working in a field that is tangential to my current one, it's a possibility. But quite a remote one.

But I don't want space travel to become any more commercialised as that risks an increase of space junk into our outer atmosphere. I'd prefer that, until we get to the point of people being able to live on, say, the Moon, that tourism was kept to a minimum.

Space tourism would take awhile anyway. Even once it is feasible there's quite a waiting list with many of the Earth's elite holding tickets.

Myself, I can't imagine I'll ever do it, even if it becomes affordable. Once the novelty of being in space wears off, there's just not a lot you can do when you're confined to that little spacecraft.

And besides, I'd worry about the safety of the flights themselves... air travel may be the safest mode of transport around, but space travel is an entirely different ball game!
