I initially thought Splatter Wars would be a good title but the Big Food Fight might be even better.

I'd prefer 'Splatter Wars' TBH... 'Big Food Fight' just sounds very generic IMO :P .

Also, should the English even be referenced? They did fight Spain from 1625-1630 and France from 1627-1629 in real life but pretty much were absent in the rest of the Thirty Years War. Also, I’d represent them as lions or bulldogs instead of teddy bears.

Might be worth giving them a cameo - but, I wouldn't have them playing an important role in the story :P .

Great but should the English be lions, unicorns, or bulldogs?

I'd go with the lions... the unicorns sound more appropriate for Scotland!

True but England and Scotland were ruled by the same king during the Thirty Years War and lionXunicorn=bulldog apparently.

Good point: they were ruled by the same king :P . But they remained separate kingdoms until the Acts of Union in 1707 - just as the UK and Canada are currently separate monarchies which share the same monarch.

So, I think England and Scotland ought to be represented separately here.

And I’d also like to reference the Portuguese Restoration War although how would this work? Have separate Portuguese and Spanish characters or have the Spanish character be split apart? Note that Portugal and Spain were separate countries sharing the same king from 1580-1640 in real life but there was more integration efforts which partly led to the Portuguese Restoration War and Portugal switching sides from team Hapsburg to team not Hapsburg.

A war book for kids could be intense or nightmare inducing, so you gotta be careful how far you take it. That said, kids books are meant to be softer, fluffier, even scarier stuff (goosebumps for example isn’t all that scary IMO; it has its moments, but still can be generally pretty mild though I haven’t read a whole lot of books yet as a whole. But yeah, kids stuff shouldn’t be too intense ‘cos kids are growing and you don’t wanna traumatize them).

Even a lot of older kids books to some extent should have a softer edge, probably. There are kids who don’t mind being scared too much, but even braver kids have their general limitations for how dark something can be. Overall, you just gotta approach this kid of thing carefully with children.

I won’t say I am against the idea of this like I woulda been months ago, though. I am starting to understand that dark media isn’t nessasarly negative more these days, anyways. I am growing up more now. :)
