Old News Iconic tree at Hadrian's Wall felled

Indeed, that is a lovely tribute :) .

Perhaps, that sapling will one day grow up to be as iconic a beauty spot as the Sycamore Tree itself!

I'm curious if it was vandalism for the sake of vandalism or a case of thinking they'd profit off the tree in some way. In my state there's been a major issue of people sneaking onto state and national parks to cut large trees just to sell them at mills for a large profit.

Some slightly good news; :)One year after the famous Sycamore Gap tree was cut down a 7ft (2m) section of the trunk has returned home. The piece is now the star-attraction in a new exhibition at The Sill visitor centre near Hexham, in Northumberland, which celebrates the life of the tree.

Yeah, that is a nice touch: I'm glad it's not been forgotten :) .

Also, artist Caroline West has marked the anniversary by painting pictures of the tree in different settings:

As much as I wish the tree hadn't been felled in the first place, she's done a great job here :) !

Some more slightly good news. Saplings from the felled Sycamore Gap tree are being given to charities, groups and individuals as "trees of hope":

That's nice. :)

Indeed :) .

As sad as its felling was, I'm glad some good is coming out of it, and people are making the best of the whole sorry situation!
