SUMMING UP THE WEEK, 28 OCTOBER-3 NOVEMBER, 2024

Tier 1 Title Scene
  • To nobody's great surprise, Mattias Vlahos has re-inserted himself into the EWA Championship race, but he also seems preoccupied with something else (see below). Regardless of that he'll still have to get by a slew of other contenders, including Dion Prince, Kaélos Pathakos, Željko Miljanović, Serhiy Kalitvinko, Tris Marks, Sebastian Brown, Matt McIntyre, Hakan Berat, and Don George.
  • Takhir Teteriuk has welcomed all challengers to his Old World Championship! So you can imagine the rankings filled up pretty quickly! Rasheed Young, Kevyn Mirković, Elijah, Ricardo Benítez, Giammarco Scibetta, Natane Huboka, Georgios Pathakos, Captain Kayibanda, Dominik Alexandros, and Tristan Vlahos are ranked.
  • Marko Myllyjärvi is once again stuck trying to stay away from the demented Sam I Am in Americas Championship contention, but there are plenty of others to fill the slot as the rankings show. Shavo Gurzadian, Alec McIntyre, Joseph Ndali, Demitros Lavriakis, Nikolaj Bogdanovič, Vyacheslav Antropov, DJ Jojo, Paul Morgenstern, and Lieutenant Scarface are all ranked as well. Keep a close eye on Morgenstern. I get the feeling he is actually in the race to go after Sam I Am rather than to actually win the gold!
  • It's slimmer pickings in the Hardcore division this month with many of the "best" off chasing other titles. So who does Goran Šimeunović have to watch? Lessee... JP Myllyjärvi, Gordan Bogdanovič, Mark Wylie, Ryan O'Martin, Seven, Brock Samuel, Vaško Prodanović, Devin Elliss, Marat Gurzadian, and... HUH? Turan Efendiyev? Yes, it seems the Azeri has actually entered the race even though he isn't known for Hardcore (although his battlings with Lord Dredd/Kadreddin Nabiyev show that he can do it when he wants to).
  • Other than Ricardo Benítez and the injured Arik Ginzburg, it seems the Cruiserweight high-falutiners are all around for this cycle. Even Gabazon has decided to contend this time around, going for Cruiserweight Championship #4! But consider that Bassam al-Wadud, Kazuyoshi Takahashi, Général Bernard, Special Agent Fleury, Randy Prince, Lorne Christopher, Janne Myllyjärvi, Erkin Buzurbayev, DK Extreme, and Kollector are also all ranked.
  • It's going to take a special kind of woman to bring Marina down, which is why it's a good thing that all the women that have ever beaten the 6'7" giantess are ranked, with the exception of Gabazon. Persephone, Danae Pathakos, Queen Helen, Elisabeth, rematch-seeking Colonel Chisiza, Ronnie Brown, and Yukiko Kawachi are all in the Women's Championship race. So too are Viktore, Apollyon, and Shakira.
  • Dean and Andros have suggested that "lesser-known" tag teams should participate this month for the rankings points and the exposure, and with some of the better tag teams taken up injured or occupied elsewhere, Kris Senior thought that that was a pretty good idea! The EWA head honcho noted that the teams with one or both members hurt include The Two Titans, Team Lietuva Originals, HaB'rit, Mirković and Kovačević, The Bog Boys, the Towers of Ararat, and Marks & Granger, while in the other category we have 2Kold, Blacademix, Brothers In Arms, The Myllyjärvi Twins, The Pathakos Twins, The Berats, The Prince Bros, The Scibetta Bros, Roughnex, and Eastern Orthodox. The Lords of Lancashire aren't entering either because it's against their stablemates. So who even is there? You'd be surprised! So far we have Nicky & Fran (who for once are taking a break from their seemingly incessant beef with The Pros), The Double Eagle, Samenheid, Red Sea Force (Hany Tariq ar-Rahman and The Djinn), L-Wolf and Lorne Christopher, Ram and Sam (Ramheed Sangra and Vidura Samenem), Benelux (Don de Boer and Sebastian van Eijkeren), The Constanţiu Twins, The Samoan Studs, and The Álvarez Brothers ranked!
  • The women have no such conundrum. Although Special Forces is sitting out, we have a full ranking already with some very high-tier talent, including multiple teams from The God Squad! Yes, The Krissies and CSI are both participating! We've also got The Sentai, KoldChix, The Gerhardt Girls, The Sha-Shas, SOS, Team Lietuva Women, Hooliganettes, and Blonde Bombshells ranked - it's gonna be good!
  • Sapporo Steel will have some tough competition as well, even if some contenders aren't in because of other title runs. Žabranič Strong have entered, as also have the Islanders, Pathakos-Gogić (the all-time reign number record holders!), and Newark Family Bidness (Randy & Shakira). Those alone will keep the Japanese busy, but you've also got The Covenant Couple (Avi Kalan's gotta do something while waiting for Arik to heal up!), Chan-Sook and Wheelz, Ana-Stassi-A (the punny name of the tag team of Ana Mirković and Stassi Pathakos), Sebastian and Angie van Eijkeren, Danute and Kaspars Janvāris, and Sheena and Aonghas McIntyre on deck as well.
  • Kaz Takahashi lasted most of the week before losing the TV strap to Hokkaido Harrier on Maniacal! It's the masked Japanese wrestler's first singles title in Tier 1 in eight years and just his third overall! But some are suggesting Kaz half-assed it to go fully after the Cruiserweight Championship! :P
  • Akiko Sakaki, on the other hand, is still the Women's TV Champ after beating mostly undercarders this week. Next week will not be anywhere near this easy, considering she beat Leila Váňková, Nana Álvarez, Lieutenant Lena, and Siobhann Carlyle!
Other Tier 1 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Well, it's official. The Deathly Order is now at war with Team Lietuva, and with their two leading members out, the rest of the faction has to be somewhat concerned for their own future! But there's another catch. After seeing what Mattias Vlahos tried to do to Žydrunas Janvāris, Dean Chapman conferred with the elders of the God Squad, and the anathema against Team Lietuva has been ended!
  • "I don't like the way Mattias has been looking at me lately." This line from a cell phone call from Dominik Alexandros to his injured tag team partner Grigor Zagorakis about sums up the tension between the two.
  • While Alexandros is leery of Vlahos, there may be some solace for him in the fact that Dean Chapman has started paying particular attention to him; this was made clear on Excelsior when Dean Chapman went off on a rant about what Vlahos did to Žydrunas Janvāris in the same promo that he (and fellow elders Andros Pathakos, Joseph Ndali, Nick Trentham, and Elijah) officially let Team Lietuva off the hook. The Elder Board was also seen entering Kris Senior's office en masse, ostensibly to ask for Mattias' removal from the EWA Championship race on account of his actions at Horrorfest.
  • Reports from the locker room suggest that the whole reason Vaško Prodanović started going for the Hardcore Championship was to "make it up to" Serhiy Kalitvinko for embarrassing the stable by getting a double count-out against Franjo Antolašić.
  • In the meantime, Asim Prodanović was rebuffed by Nikica Antolašić, who insists that he has "more important things to worry about than a stupid feud!"
  • Besides his Hardcore Division run, Marat Gurzadian has vowed to make the Working Class Hooligans pay for injuring Minas Tenkerian, and emphasized as much by attacking Tris Marks backstage on Excelsior and whacking Floyd Llanfair-Ross with a chair on Roughhousin'!
  • We are going to see some genuine feuds within many of the singles titles races this cycle!
    • Hakan Berat vs. Tris Marks, Željko Miljanović vs. Serhiy Kalitvinko in the EWA Championship division
    • Elijah vs. Dominik Alexandros, Rasheed Young vs. Captain Kayibanda, possibly Kevyn Mirković vs. Tristan Vlahos in the EWA Old World division
    • Paul Morgenstern and Joseph Ndali vs. Sam I Am and Demitros Lavriakis, Nik Bogdanovič vs. Slava Antropov in the EWA Americas Division
    • Ryan O'Martin vs. Brock Samuel, Marat Gurzadian vs. Brock Samuel, Turan Efendiyev vs. Seven, in the EWA Hardcore division
    • Bassam al-Wadud vs. Kollector in the EWA Cruiserweight Division
    • Half the division vs. Apollyon and Viktore, Apollyon vs. Viktore in the EWA Women's Division!
Tier 1 Injury Update
  • Minas Tenkerian has given an update on his injury - while his 2024 is done, he will be back fairly early in 2025, "Lord willing." The current ETR has him back in the first full week of January.
  • Žydrunas Janvāris noted in a recent interview that he was "all healed up with no place to go," owing to his current vacation.
  • Arvydas Maklėvičius has said he won't seek to be booked in a match at Advent since he will not be back until about a week and a half before the November PPV.
  • Dragan Kovačević will be back "at soonest on Uprising this week and at latest Uprising next week" per the latest report.
  • Grigor Zagorakis said he will probably return "the second week of December" but that his progress in recovery is in the right direction.
  • We heard a similar report from Gerry Granger, except that he will be back "in two and a half to three weeks."
  • Reports are suggesting Arik Ginzburg will return around the same time as Grigor Zagorakis.
  • Midshipman Mirković will be back this next week.
Tier 2 Title Picture
  • After two weeks, the #1 contender is Japhet al-Nazr, with a surprising Timi Vinidi right behind him - the Fijian hasn't had a run this good since he won the Tier 2 EWA Championship back in 2013! Captain Redbeard is also doing well, although trying to keep his ship together has done a number on his mental state!
  • Egidijus Stravinskas is doing decently in his first ever Old World Championship run, but he'll have to do better if he wants to catch Robbie Irschick or Andriy Sarbenko, with the two bitter rivals pushing themselves hard and sitting 1 and 2 right now, Stravinskas currently third.
  • Still too close to call in the Americas Championship race, although it's obvious that Colonel Aristide and Squad Leader Odom are now out to beat the snot out of each other as much as they are to get their hands on Raitis Janvāris' gold! Janvāris, in the meantime, did give Iiro Kimmonen a title shot on Throwdown, which he won in a close match!
  • Drama in all portions of the rankings in the Hardcore race! While Buccaneer Briggs was able to beat Sven Halk to stay in the race, Fabrice Lacroix was utterly buried by Tungsten and Andreas Koellendamm won his first hardcore match in seven years over Tirone, so Lacroix is now unranked and Tungsten has reignited an old feud! But near the top is no better as Captain Kisimba relied on tactics that would normally be considered cheating and are even considered taboo, if legal, in hardcore! Raimondas Žutautas didn't take kindly to being hit below the belt by the Congolese during their match on Conquest! Kisimba was #1 contender after Conquest but quickly lost that spot after Žutautas bloinged him over the head with a stop sign during a match between him and Crash KTM on Throwdown, allowing the Armenian cruiserweight to hit the Samba Flip on him followed by an Airwalk-double stomp with a steel chair (this has become a finisher of sorts for him in Hardcore) for the 1-2-3.
  • The Cruiserweight Division has turned into a four-horse race, with Sonya Craig, Chongrak Mahidol, and Armand de Vlieger tied for top spot with Vadim Covalciuc only a tiny bit behind. Benito Guerrera, on the other hand, can't shake the heckler chants and is dangerously close to dropping out of the rankings entirely! He has a last-chance match to stay in the rankings against (barely) unranked El Palestino on Blitz.
  • Although most of the matches have been close, we're seeing three clear top contenders for the Women's Championship - Sexy Streamer, who has found her groove again, Qian Qian-Min, completely expected, and Eva Clark, who won an epic match on Throwdown over tag team partner Carlota to pull ahead of her in the race. But man, did the match between SS and Tamara Robano get heated or what? After losing, Robano went after the woman who just beat her with a steel chair, only to catch a Yakuza kick from Eva Clark!
  • Well, Equipo EE.UU. has done about as well as we expected. The team of AJ Sandoval and Cabal has lost all three of its matches so far - one last week and two this week - and the most recent one saw them squashed by current co-#1 contenders Deathcore! There is a tie up top between them and Saints & Angels, with The Carpathian Corps sitting third after a surprise win over The Umagas!
  • Las Divas, Aurora Australis, and Old Stock Canadians are the top three in the Women's Tag Team race, and it's still somewhat close with three other teams still having a very good chance, that is, Proverbs 31, Old School, and Magical Girls. Team Austria would have still been in the race but for some inexcusable interference by Hrachia Tenkerian on Elfie on Blitz.
  • The above-mentioned dalliances of Miss Tenkerian have had ramifications in the Intergender Tag Team division. Beauty and The Beast utterly buried Hrachia and Nazaret Tenkerian, and Umaga didn't stop at the win, pointing at Hrachia as he was about to Jackhammer Nazaret through the Spanish announce table and yelling, "SEE THIS?? THIS IS YOUR FAULT! AND YOU KNOW IT!!" before thundering Nazaret through the table. Now they're in danger of dropping out and will have to fend off Sahba Mourit and Nassim Toual on Conquest this week to stay in. B&tB rank second right now, only behind on-fire Greater Albania, but Wild Things, Muay Indochina, and Easy Lovers are also within striking distance!
  • J-Shred did at least break a sweat against Nassim Toual on Throwdown, but he still emerged from the week's shows still YOUR Tier 2 Men's TV Champ, making sure that all three men ended up Needled 24/7! Next week will be interesting. The challengers drawn, in order, were Adomas Kirvaitis, ibn Fatih, and Kai Attinen! Still no sign of Major Mitch in the draws yet though!
  • Mariah Gerhardt is your new Women's TV Champ as she dug deep to claim her first ever win against Delina! But with the Albanian going all-in on the Intergender Tag division right now, this could be a win-win situation!
Other Tier 2 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Eva Clark made it very clear to Sexy Streamer on Blitz that she "still hate[s her] guts," but that she will not intervene on behalf of the Robanos. "The only thing worse than a narcissistic, scheming putita is simps and posturers that will throw even their allies under the bus to support her, especially if she wants nothing to do with them." After an awkward pause after Clark walked off stream, Sexy Streamer conceded, "Well... she's not wrong! *grumbles* Even if she did call me a whore."
  • Speaking of the Robanos, they tried to double-team Clark backstage on Throwdown only to find out that Viva Los Andes were anticipating the attack! It quickly became a 5-on-2 (with Carlota, Anelís, Anita, and Irina Valdez also there) and the Robanos were forced to flee.
  • After squashing Fabrice Lacroix on Conquest, Tungsten grabbed a mic and said to him, "I don't want to see your ugly ass again until you actually learn how to fight!"
  • Benito Guerrera came out and tried to cut a promo on the fans on Conquest, having something of a meltdown before Major Saidaliyev came out and put him in his place. "So you say you aren't a simp... but you let a couple of jabronis claim to act on her behalf, alienating the best woman wrestler in your stable who hates her guts, and then refuse to listen to said wrestler when she rightly complained about it? Look, I'm not Eva's biggest fan and never really have been, but if the shoe fits, you better wear it! Especially when your stable is already as corrupt as they come, unlike Viva Los Andes!"
  • Buccaneer Briggs is starting to get suspicious of Constance, but is still less overt about his disdain for her than ibn Fatih, who has begun calling her some very unflattering things in Arabic!
  • The whole Angelika-Hrachia mess could explode into a stable war at this point, after Jimmy Umaga's rampage on Nazaret Tenkerian. It may also cause a temporary alliance between Alpine Academy and the Samoan Army, which would be utterly disastrous for Hayastan, so they need to be very careful about this! Stable leader Crash KTM has reportedly said he wants to "smooth things over," but the Tenkerians aren't keen on it.
  • Rhiannon had another match, this time against Xenia on Conquest, and it was also sloppy. This resulted in a group of women storming Kris Senior's office demanding he do something about it, and Kris Junior said he already had something in mind. With relegation being announced at the beginning of December, he has made a match for First Blood where she will face a randomly-drawn opponent within the "upper potential drop zone" (someone of a rating between 75 and 78). If she wins, she stays for sure. If she loses, she has to waive her exemption.
Tier 2 Injury Update
  • Sansone will be in a hard mask for at least another week.
  • Stanyslav Kozak has the equivalent of a grade 1 concussion now, and will be out for another week and a half.
  • Anatoliya Kiryginskaya was cleared for Conquest but wasn't in the schedule for either that or Throwdown. Word on the street is that she is booked for Blitz.
  • No change for Terje Grimseth.
  • Jimmy Umaga was a bit stiff with his Jackhammer, giving Nazaret Tenkerian back spasms. He is listed as day-to-day.
Tier 3 Title Picture
  • Well, Jamaal Andrews is now out of the EWA Championship race, and it's his own fault (see below). It's now largely a four-horse race to see who joins Kristijan Bogišić against Sergeant Major Rozentals at Mayhem - The official statistical #1 contender is a three-way tie between Steve Jeffers, Tua, and Robert Mensik, with Big Xeno just a hair behind. It's kind of humorous, actually, because even though Tua beat Mensik, Mensik beat Jeffers and Jeffers beat Tua this week, so there's the "win-loss gridlock" that we sometimes see in rankings systems! There should be further clarification later this week.
  • With Sergeant Major Sethunya's big win over JJ Bear on Up-And-Coming, he is now the #1 contender for the Old World Championship! Ioane Niko isn't too far behind, and Reid Jeffers has crawled his way back into third place after losing his cycle opener the week after Fields Of Blood.
  • Denzel Bryant and Lance Corporal Letsego had a match thrown out on Slobberknocker as Bryant tried to cheat a couple of times and got caught, not by the ref but by some of the Lance Corporal's buddies from the ACA! You can see what else happened in the rivalries section. But the aftereffect was that at least for now, Michael Siddhu is the #1 contender for the Americas Championship, but the thrown-out match will have a do-over this week on Slobberknocker with a strict no-interference clause in place! Bryant also has to watch his shenanigans lest he give up ground to a resurgent Oleksander Matviyenko, who currently sits fourth after a couple wins this week!
  • Quite the shakeup in the Hardcore division this week! Bray McMahon beat Saini Fanalua in a brutal match on Slobberknocker only to be the last man pinned in another Hardcore Four, which was won by super-rookie Masato Tajiri! The Japanese is now well ahead as #1 contender and looks eager to be the first-ever rookie to win more than one Hardcore Championship in a year in Tier 3!
  • Lieutenant Macie barely held off Bruce Stuart, Jr. on Slobberknocker but still hasn't quite caught Rami, who is still undefeated this cycle and holds #1 contendership after beating Indrek Lepp. Junior has slid to fifth as well, with a couple other cruiserweights - Luke Ng and Hosny bin Sabry - having had strong weeks this week - the latter in spite of being ganged up on by Turkestan on Up-And-Coming (see below).
  • Tamara Stevens had a brilliant week and is now #1 contender, with Lady Kez being one of her two defeated rivals! But she does have her eyes on #2 contender Jackie Sassou, who has also been doing well, and without any shifty tactics!
  • There were handshakes all around as The Laaksonens gutted out an epic victory over the Coral Sea Crushers and solidified their #2 ranking - they even got closer to #1 contenders Serbsational, who would have lost their top spot had they not won at least one match. But they did, beating stablemates Dan Bonez. Maybury & Springsteen have also done quite well, but although they sit third they are some ways behind the Finnish twins!
  • Mann & McIver are now tied for #1 spot - although they beat Silver Ferns, Tammy & Keisha beat the RCAF and Força Portugal, so now the two teams sit even. What's got everyone buzzing is that the Killer Bees pulled off two upsets this week, beating first fellow rookie team Superheroines, and later beating Silver Ferns! The rookies are doing quite well overall, with the Bees in third and Kuya-shino in fifth.
  • Oh boy, the match between The Horde and O'Martin & Stuart Jr. got ugly after Lil' Brucie made Khan tap! Not happy with being held back by Katie O'Martin, Crystal Woman stiff-punched her then grabbed a kendo stick. Not a good move. Damhnait Cowan came roaring out of the back to help her tag team partner, chair in hand! See the rivalries section to see how this story ends - nevertheless, The Horde has been booted from the Intergender Tag race and Crystal Woman has been (kayfabe) fined; Two Kiwis Of A Feather beat the Young Turks, so that team slides to third from top while O'Martin & Stuart Jr. are now #1!
  • As expected, Tajiri lost to Jamaal Andrews on Up-And-Coming, but the Trinidadian did something extraordinarily stupid and got himself stripped of the belt and (kayfabe) suspended (see below); Nate Radkov ended up facing Xiang Zhi-Han on Brouhaha; the Chinese won that one, his second.
  • Keisha Biggs looked good in all her matches, but ended up losing on Brouhaha against Talia Lundmark (her fifth, tying her with Jeannie-Lee and Amy McIver for most all-time).
Other Tier 3 Rivalries/Stable News
  • This just wasn't Jamaal Andrews' week. On Up-And-Coming he had Masato Tajiri beat, but after the bell rang, he took all his frustrations out on the Japanese rookie. At first, Neo Japan came out to help, but they were summarily dismissed and the beatings continued for a while, until much to everyone's amazement, Dark & Dangerous came to Tajiri's rescue! The sold-out crowd in Prince George, BC, went absolutely bonkers! Chants of "Dark and Dangerous! *clap clap clap-clap clap*" started ringing through the arena! That's the face turn we'd been expecting! Steve Jeffers grabbed a mic and buried Andrews. "See, this is another reason why we kicked you to the curb! This is the same bull!@#$ you did and are still doing to Deng Natali! We've had enough of being ruthless @$$holes!" So what could top that? Well, ask the folks in Dawson Creek how loud it got when BC boy Dean Chapman showed up! We'd heard on Slobberknocker that someone was going to show up from the Elder Board, but we certainly didn't expect the Cryonic Crusader when Big Xeno chuckled "hoo hooooo, Jamaal is cooked!" Chapman delivered the news to a terrified Andrews that he was anathema, seconds before tossing the microphone to a support worker and nailing him with a Brain Freeze! When he came to, Angel Lorenzo Batista delivered the news that he had been suspended and stripped of the TV Title for his actions against Masato Tajiri!
  • Mesoamerica got a measure of revenge on Jamiekan Groove this week on Up-And-Coming! Baxee was losing a match against Loretta Ghedina when her partner Janey Campbell came out to interfere, but after a few minutes, Leticia came to the aid of the Italian veteran and the two were able to drive them off. Denzel tried to accost Rami about this with Orane Gainsborough and Eldon Howell, but the would-be gang attack was quickly reversed into a 5-on-3! Furthermore, Nixon Tiago and Felipe Goicochea got a win over Gainsborough and Howell on Brouhaha!
  • And then there was the whole Denzel Bryant fiasco on Slobberknocker which got him his ass kicked by the ACA! Howell and Gainsborough had distracted the ref so that Bryant could hit a low blow on Lance Corporal Letsego, but the Groove didn't realize that the Motswana had ACA members planted in the crowd! The ref did notice Letsego's stance, but not until Sergeant Major Sethunya was already in the ring unloading on Bryant with right hands. The ref threw the match out, calling it a no contest. Howzat??? (Corporal Bowler and Staff Sergeant Santiago) quickly emerged to deal with the other Groove men, and when the women came out to try and run interference for them, they were attacked by Zulu Style! Heels... do they ever learn?
  • In light of what happened on Up-And-Coming, Bludjun and Valen Prince both joined Dark & Dangerous!
  • Arab League stable leader Hany Tariq ar-Rahman was also down from Tier 1 as well, to give the Tier 3 contingent (except for Kicham) a much-needed dressing-down! "Seriously! We Arabs have to do better! It's bad enough when we're falsely accused of doing all manner of nasty things by non-Arabs, but when it's actually true?? COME ON, MAN!! Grow up! Especially you, Pharaoh! I don't want shame being put on the name of Egypt just because you're acting like a total dick!" Pharaoh didn't take kindly to this statement but was quickly put back in his place when he tried to physically attack HT, who slapped him hard then hit him with a Delta Driver on the locker room floor! "Do NOT try that again! Or this General's gonna discharge yo' ass!"
  • Last week's tag team matches between The Troublemakers and the Wantoks were very entertaining! The Morrisons beat The Knockaround Guys (Semiti and Déhu) fairly easily on Slobberknocker, while the Coral Sea Crushers returned the favour on Brouhaha by beating Stacko and Jacko! I smell a Stable War match... or at least an eight-man tag match!
  • Hayastan basically buried The Caucasian Invasion on Slobberknocker, both in word and deed. The Armenian stable baited the three Georgians out by saying that no non-Georgian would ever join their stable because either they hate them too much or they "find too much greatness elsewhere." Zviad and Malkhaz were pounded pretty good by the Temurjyans and Mark Tenkerian, and Asmat was told to "run along, little girlie!" by Benik. Later that show, Asmat is seen on the phone with people in a higher tiers. Looking discouraged, she finally finds someone who will listen to her plight and do something about it. Who could it be?
  • So much for the Ba'ath Busters! Suriyeli turned heel on Up-And-Coming, leading to all of Turkestan beating Hosny bin Sabry up. But this got the attention of the ACA and the God Squad, so you have to wonder if Turkestan have just put themselves in danger! ;)
Tier 3 Injury Update
  • No change for Sigrid or Chun Kiman.
  • Jamaal Andrews' lousy week ended with him being suspended for two weeks and barred from participation in Mayhem.

SUMMING UP THE WEEK, 4-10 NOVEMBER 2024

Tier 1 Title Picture
  • Dean Chapman cut a promo on Mattias Vlahos on Excelsior, announcing that he has been allowed to gatekeep the EWA Championship against him, provided it is done in a match. Death Incarnate was hardly thrilled, especially given that the match had a strict no-interference clause attached. So on Uprising, the match was held, and Mattias got absolutely murdered out there, with Dean chokeslamming Mattias off the ring apron through one of the announce tables (apparently it was the Russian one!) after he had already beaten him. Even though Mattias fought with all he had, he only lasted just over ten minutes. Elsewhere, it's a very close race with Hakan Berat, Tris Marks, and Sebastian Brown being co-#1 contenders statistically.
Transcript
  • Dominik Alexandros has a fire in his belly this cycle! After the events of Excelsior (see below) he took his anger out on on-and-off Hardcore rival Natane Huboka, then on Roughhousin' he beat Tristan Vlahos with relative ease. He sits as #1 contender and the guys immediately behind him (Giammarco Scibetta, Elijah, and Don George) are trying to strategize to account for Alexandros' newfound moxie!
  • Sam I Am is experiencing some jealousy towards Demitros Lavriakis as the Greco-Canadian is tied for #1 spot with Shavo Gurzadian; Lavriakis got the 1-2-3 on Joseph Ndali and Vyacheslav Antropov this week while his Armenian counterpart beat Lieutenant Scarface and Nikolaj Bogdanovič. Sam I Am himself beat Alec McIntyre in a solid match and was considered an early fave, until he lost his spot to Paul Morgenstern on Brouhaha as The Menacing Mennonite came in not so much to beat Sam as to beat the crap out of him, even though he ended up doing both! Mattias Vlahos tried to shut him up by suggesting, "Maybe you just have to do better! Quit your whining lest you end up a blithering idiot!"
  • This Hardcore cycle has been kind of fun to watch, if you like seeing grown men beat each other over the head with kendo sticks! :P The current #1 contender is JP Myllyjärvi but we have surprising #2 and #3 in Vaško Prodanović and Turan Efendiyev! The Alpha Wolf pulled off quite the upset (within a hardcore context) by getting one over on Mark Wylie on Maniacal! Seven had a dreadful week, losing to the aforementioned Myllyjärvi and Prodanović.
  • The Deathly Order is doing no better in the Cruiserweight division than they are in the Americas or Hardcore races! Kollector lost to Gabazon on Uprising and then Kaz Takahashi on Roughhousin' and as such sits near the bottom of the ranked contingent! Takahashi in particular is the #1 contender already after also beating Janne Myllyjärvi at a house show's main event, with Bassam al-Wadud, Gabazon, and Erkin Buzurbayev sitting close behind.
  • It is too close to call amongst the women! Nobody is left unbeaten in the cycle, not even Persephone, who lost a heartbreaker against Yukiko Kawachi in Maniacal's main event after the diminutive Japanese "had a match she wanted back" against Danae Pathakos on Excelsior. But Danae Pathakos lost to Apollyon (who had lost last week) on Roughhousin' as well! We have a four-way tie for #1 contender but it is anything but conclusive!
  • Nikica Antolašić is fuming after he was interfered with by Asim Prodanović on Uprising, allowing L-Wolf to pin his younger brother Franjo with the Pack Attack and drop them down the Tag Team Championship contention rankings, although in fairness, he and Lorne Christopher are not the #1 contenders in spite of the "weaker" pool. No, that would be the plucky Constanţiu Twins, who got "upset" wins over the Álvarez Brothers (you should have seen their Super Vlach Buster on 6'11" Isidoro Álvarez!) and The Samoan Studs this week. The Studs didn't have a horrible week though as they at least got a pretty easy win over the Red Sea Force (HT ar-Rahman and The Djinn).
  • It is very close in the Women's Tag division, with the Sha-Shas holding a narrow lead over The Sentai, KoldChix, and The Krissies, who beat stablemates CSI in a close one at a house show.
  • We had one of the key contention matches this week in the Intergender Tag Team division, with Žabranič Strong beating Newark Family Bidness on Uprising, before later beating Kaspars Janvāris and Danute in something of a squash on Maniacal - the sound of Jure's Jackhammer to Janvāris was concerning to Joey Styles, who suspected that it cracked the ring from its stiffness, but Kris Senior had it checked afterwards and nothing was wrong. "Must've been the kind of wood they used, eh?" The husband-wife team are the #1 contenders, with The Covenant Couple and Pathakos-Gogić close behind.
  • Why do I get the feeling Tris Marks is trying to have 30 TV Title reigns by year's end? He won #29 on Excelsior with a squash against Hokkaido Harrier and held it for the rest of the week! Next week's challenger draw is all over the place, though... and it includes Andros Pathakos on Uprising! The other three opponents, in order, are Lieutenant Haxhari, Nick Trentham (and possibly a new opponent should Andros follow his custom and vacate the TV Title immediately after winning it), and Ricardo Benitez! The Men's TV Title has also been booked as the main event on Maniacal!
  • What did I tell you? It wasn't an easy week for Akiko Sakaki - in fact, she ended up losing her Women's TV Title to Nina Magnussen on Uprising, only for the bodacious blonde to lose it on Roughhousin' to Sara Wylie!
Other Tier 1 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Dean Chapman has said that if he is still EWA Champion after Advent, he will defend his gold against Andros Pathakos at Winter War. "Come on, people, you know you want it!"
  • One of the creepiest and most disgusting actions by anyone in all of 2024 took place on Excelsior, where Rowdy Rebecca was kidnapped by The Abominations and Sam I Am and brought to the ring, where Mattias Vlahos tried to force him to renounce her and demonstrate it by whacking her with a steel chair. The Nordic Union tried to come to her rescue in vain as they were beaten back, but after Vlahos yelled at him to "just do it," Dominik Alexandros looked up at Mattias with an evil grin and instead smashed the chair over his head, then hit Seven with an Iron Claw! As Nina Magnussen dragged the Swede to safety, Dominik grabbed an already banged up Kollector and dragged him into the ring, then setting up a table and lighting it on fire. "You !@#$heads touch my wife again, and this will happen to every last one of you!" He then grabbed Kollector by the throat with both hands, held him there for a while and started to laugh eerily, then put him through it with the Iron Claw. Joey said it best: "And Dominik Alexandros has sent a message to the Deathly Order, loud and clear! But what will Grigor Zagorakis do about this?"
    • His question was answered on Uprising as Dom was on the phone with Grigor as he entered the arena and could be heard saying, "You made the right decision, Grizz. I mean, those sick bastards could do the same thing to Anatoliya as well. Glad to hear you're severing the ties too. Okay, I'll chat with you afterwards."
    • Furthermore, when the trio that abducted Dominik's wife tried to accost him on Uprising, they found themselves quickly outnumbered as Benny Thorvaldssen, Kennet Kjetilssen, Juha Ukkonen, Jere Autissa, and JJ Matsson all joined him, and in spite of the later joining of Demitros Lavriakis in the fight, it was still a 6-on-4 and they were eventually beaten back.
  • Speaking of the Union, they have another ally in their now-started war against the Order: Team Lietuva. Although they acknowledge it is a marriage of convenience and that the four healthy Lithuanians could turn on them the moment the Order is out of the way, this was made more or less official when Danute and Viktore came to the aid of the Naarasleijonat alongside Rowdy Rebecca when SOS and Apollyon decided to go after them for no other reason than their attempt to bail out Rebecca!
  • Asim Prodanović got Superman Punched backstage by Željko Miljanović after his interference against Nicky & Fran.
  • "Payback's a right bitch, innit?" Gerry Granger decked Marat Gurzadian with a chair on Uprising after the Armenian beat Brock Samuel in a Hardcore division match and insisted on continuing his attacks after the bell, after which Brock Samuel put the Armenian through a table set up outside the ring with a powerbomb off the ring apron!
  • Nana Álvarez has had enough of Rosa Pathakos berating her over her sloppiness, walking out on her now-former tag team partner on Maniacal after the two lost to FoxCat!
Tier 1 Injury Update
  • Midshipman Mirković returned on Uprising but in a losing effort, losing the second match of the night to Queen Helen.
  • Dragan Kovačević had a better return, returning on Maniacal to win against Wacław Iwański.
  • Žydrunas Janvāris says he will probably make an appearance at Advent but won't be booked in matches until afterwards. Any injuries he has are kayfabe at this point.
  • ETR for long- and mid-term IR:
    • Arvydas Maklėvičius (back injury) - this week, no sooner than Uprising
    • Gerry Granger (broken left foot) - week of Advent (18-24 November)
    • Grigor Zagorakis (hernia surgery) - week of 1-7 December
    • Arik Ginzburg (sprained MCL) - week of 1-7 December
    • Minas Tenkerian (back surgery from herniated disc + fractured sacrum) - week of 5-11 January at the earliest
Tier 2 Title Picture
  • The #1 contender's match for the EWA Championship match against Riku Kimmonen at First Blood is set! It's going to be Japhet al-Nazr against Timi Vinidi! Both men beat Captain Redbeard this week!
  • Thanks to Stanyslav Kozak's involvement getting caught by the referee, Andriy Sarbenko ended up losing to Egidijus Stravinskas on Throwdown, so the #1 contender's match for the Old World Championship will see the Lithuanian rookie take on Robbie Irschick, but after what happened after the match Strav might not be up to it!
  • Abdul Yasirov, Galin Liapchev, Colonel Aristide, and Willie Giove will be involved in a four-way elimination match to determine the #1 contender for the Americas Championship on Blitz.
  • And your #1 contender for the Hardcore Championship is... Tungsten! The burly Austrian pulled a huge win off against DZG and Crash KTM on Throwdown to claim the spot against Colby Shelley for himself!
  • After this week we have Sonya Craig set to face Armand de Vlieger for the #1 contender spot for the Cruiserweight Championship on Conquest!
  • Sexy Streamer is the #1 contender for the Women's Championship after she beat both Qian Qian-Min and Eva Clark in a triad match on Throwdown. However, the fact that the Trope Troupe got involved in the match led Kris Junior to give that match (against Rebekah Gerhardt) a strict no-interference clause, and put Qian Qian-Min as the challenger for the Tier Women's TV Title at First Blood!
  • The Tag Team Championship #1 contender's match is going to be a four-way match. Deathcore and Saints & Angels were able to stay atop the rankings but The Carpathian Corps are close enough that they are justified in asking for a shot and Easy Goers have fought hard enough - even beating The Umagas! - that they have been given a shot as well.
  • Las Divas beat Old Stock Canadians in a close one (what EWA fans call "handshake bait") on Blitz and then sent Magical Girls packing on Throwdown with an epic squash, meaning they will face Aurora Australis and Proverbs 31 in a Triad match for the #1 contender spot for the Women's Tag Team Championship. Old School came up just short against the two South Americans. Oh well, there's always next cycle. :P
  • Easy Lovers... they'll get a hold on you, believe me! Like no other, before you know it you'll be on your knees! They're the Easy Lovers! They'll kick your ass and you will feel it! #1 contenders! And I guess now you have to seeeeeeeee! :P Yes, with a stunning upset over Greater Albania, the plucky team of Corbo and Irina Valdez now find themselves as statistical #1s and in the match to determine who faces Headbangers' Ball at First Blood!
  • Now we know where Major Mitch is gonna be in the TV Title scene - awaiting whoever makes it to First Blood! In the meantime, J-Shred made it as far as Throwdown before finally losing to Kai Attinen, and it wasn't a one-sided match by any means!
  • Two belt changes for the Women's TV Title this week: First, Mariah Gerhardt lost to Eva Clark on Conquest after having beaten Marissa Giove on Blitz, but Clark was cost her belt by the Robanos on Throwdown and the new champion is Ingrid Magnussen.
Other Tier 2 Rivalries/Stable News
  • The three-way hate triangle between Eva Clark (and by extension Carlota and to a lesser degree all of Viva Los Andes), Sexy Streamer (and in the case of the Robanos, the Trope Troupe by extension), and the Robanos (and by extension La Raza) continues. After robbing Clark of the Women's TV Title on Throwdown, they threatened Sexy Streamer, saying they could do the same to her, to which the Mexican stated that they in fact could not (because of the strict no-interference clause) and even if they could, they would get their asses kicked by the other Troupers. Of course, the conversation ended very abruptly when a furious Eva Clark came through looking for them, and when they tried to run, the Robanos found themselves being tripped up by Sexy Streamer on their way out, losing them time. SS yelled after Clark, "WE'RE EVEN!" Then muttered under her breath, "How unsexy..."
  • Andriy Sarbenko laid quite the beating on Egidijus Stravinskas after losing to him by DQ thanks to a still-uncleared Stanyslav Kozak interfering with the match; after Kozak was summoned to Kris Junior's office, he was ambushed by a stop sign-wielding Raimondas Žutautas!
  • Butthurt over Tungsten's words last week, Fabrice Lacroix tried one last time to get back at the Austrian on Conquest only to get Crowbarred into a table backstage! "I said I don't want to see your punk-ass! Learn to fight, Blödmann!
  • On Blitz, La Raza tried to intimidate Major Saidaliyev into "apologizing" for his words to Benito Guerrera the previous week. The Chechen appeared to acquiesce at first, but then the trap was sprung. "I'm sorry that you're such a p!@#y that you have to threaten one man with an stable just over something he said. I'm sorry I hurt your little feefees! And I'm really sorry that your stablemates are such cagones that were my stable around, they'd get mauled. Oh wait... that's riiiight! They are!" What followed was a brawl, which saw Saidaliyev very quickly getting Guerrera into a Chechen Choke while his stablemates beat the tar out of the overall much smaller La Raza!
  • Captain Redbeard has had it with ibn Fatih after the Libyan cost him his match against Timi Vinidi on Throwdown. After shaking off the headache caused by the chair shot backstage, he began angrily searching for him, with Buccaneer Briggs saying he didn't know where he was (which was a bald-faced lie). Afterwards, Constance came up to him and asked, "You know where he is, don't you?" We don't know his answer because it cut to the ring afterwards.
  • Crash KTM's attempt at détente with the Samoan Army was only a partial success, as Jimmy Umaga said very plainly that Hayastan would "pay a steep price" if his tag team partner is attacked again. "She isn't Samoan, but she is still extended family just like all of our intergender tag team partners are, even if they hate each other's guts. Unless their beefs are with each other, we stand by them. So if any of you attacks Elfie again, even to spite Angelika, it's war." Malaki Tulupu affirmed these words.
  • What absolutely was a failure was his attempt at smoothing things over with Alpine Academy. Male stable leader Dario Krznar told Crash KTM to "shove it up [his] ass" and that Hrachia is a "petty cow" for her actions. This didn't go over very well and ended with the four male members of each stable getting into a brawl!
  • At the very end of Throwdown, Kris Junior announced Rhiannon's opponent for First Blood - Constance!
Tier 2 Injury Update
  • Sansone has said that Throwdown was his last show with a hard mask - on Blitz he should be back to just his luchador mask!
  • Stanyslav Kozak is expected to be cleared for late this week, "almost certainly" Throwdown. However, he was (kayfabe) fined for returning to TV in any physical-contact manner before being cleared!
  • Anatoliya Kiryginskaya returned on Blitz but gave the reason for her extra absence - she's pregnant! Yes, she is now expecting a child by husband Grigor Zagorakis! So what does this mean? She is likely to be relegated to Tier 3 but will have "protected status" while on pregnancy-maternity leave, meaning that she can't be relegated from Tier 3 and her rating will remain the same in 2026. PM leave in the EWA is a year and a half; this will be their third child, joining son Makar (15yo) who was born before she joined the EWA in 2011, and daughter Demitra (9yo) who was born in 2015.
  • Nazaret Tenkerian returned on Throwdown.
  • Terje Grimseth has said he will be at First Blood but won't have any matches booked until later that week.
  • Andriy Sarbenko's supposed knockout at the hands of Raimondas Žutautas was a work.
Tier 3 Title Picture
  • While the gridlock has been broken, the main contenders for the Tier 3 EWA Championship still need a proper #1 contender's match to see who faces Sergeant Major Rozentals at Mayhem, and that will be on Slobberknocker, between Steve Jeffers and Big Xeno!
  • Sergeant Major Sethunya put Reid Jeffers out of the Old World race for good on Up-And-Coming and now faces Ioane Niko to see who will go up against Rihard Pretner at Mayhem!
  • Frustrated at how many matches this week ended in interference, Ángel Lorenzo Batista made a Hexagon match to determine the #1 contender for the Americas Championship, featuring newly-promoted Sergeant Letsego, Denzel Bryant, Michael Siddhu, Oleksander Matviyenko, Xiang Zhi-Han, and Nate Radkov! But there is also a strict no-interference clause!
  • It's official as of Brouhaha that Masato Tajiri is the #1 contender for the Tier 3 Hardcore Championship, to face Morrissey!
  • Hosny bin Sabry stunned Rami on Slobberknocker and took over top spot by later beating Luke Ng, but still has to beat Rami to absolutely set in stone a match against Welly Gounod!
  • On Up-And-Coming we saw Mr. Batista book a match between Tamara Stevens and Jackie Sassou to determine the #1 contender for the Women's Championship, but with a no-interference clause.
  • And the Laaksonens are going to Mayhem as well, to face Asylum! The surprising rookies continue to impress as they defeated Serbsational in an epic match to end Brouhaha!
  • The #1 contender's match for the Women's Tag Team Championship is going to be a four-way elimination match! After Kuya-shino beat Força Portugal and (amazingly) Mann & McIver, the Japanese rookie team put themselves in the final against Mann & McIver, Tammy & Keisha, and The Killer Bees! (NOT THE BEES!)
  • As expected, it will be Katie O'Martin and Bruce Stuart, Jr. taking on Two Kiwis of A Feather for the right to face Transatlantic for the Intergender Tag Team Championship!
  • The Men's TV Title was a revolving door this week! Xiang Zhi-Han lost to The Pharaoh on Slobberknocker, who lost to Yap Kim-Hock on Up-And-Coming (his first title!), who lost to rookie Levar Mills. It's going to be a crazy week next week though! Metin Segem, Michael Colding, and Marcin Djokić are the challengers during the week, and whoever makes it to Saturday will face six-time champ Dan Kassaye!
  • And just like that, Amy McIver has her Women's TV Title reign record back, winning #6. Talia Lundmark did get by Sanyu on Slobberknocker but lost to the Kittian on Up-And-Coming. McIver still has the strap, having beaten Deirdre on Brouhaha. This week's TV has the challengers as Martina Krstajić, Foluke, and Gretel, with the woman making it through to Mayhem set to face Damhnait Cowan!
Other Tier 3 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Mesoamerica have given their word that they won't break the non-interference clause against Denzel Bryant, however they do have plans of ass-kickery devised against the other members of Jamiekan Groove!
  • The ACA are taking more of a "wait and see" approach with the Groove now that Mesoamerica has a full-blown feud going against them, but they do have their hands full with Africa Forever, so this is probably for the best.
  • Bludjun and Valen had a very impressive first match as Dark & Dangerous members, and even against heels! They laid the smackdown on Team Estonia, amidst chants of "SASJA'S A JABROOOOOOOOONIIIIIIIIIIIII!!" This may or may not cause issues between D&D and Yevraziya.
  • Apparently the pep talk by Hany Tariq ar-Rahman worked. This was seen best in and after the match between Suriyeli and Zaher Shaaban. Shaaban did a worked shoot against the Syrian-born Cypriot afterwards. "Remind me again who called the Arab League !@#holes, then became an even bigger one himself?" When Turkestan came out to go after him, this ended up backstage, where the Arab League was waiting and a brawl ensued!
  • An eight-man tag team match has been booked for Mayhem! It's the Troublemakers against the Wantoks!
  • You should have heard how loud the crowd was in Fort St. John when The Caucasian Invasion challenged Hayastan to a rematch on Up-And-Coming, and brought out Major Saidaliyev! The look of fear on the faces of all the Armenians was palpable! And it was another squash, but in the opposite direction this time! Benik Temurjyan got the worst of it, being locked in a Chechen Choke and passing out! And then the fans got a little silly when Asmat kissed Saidaliyev on the lips!
  • Hosny bin Sabry has joined the Nordic Union at the invitation of the stable's leader in tier 3, Michael Colding. He said on Up-And-Coming that he was going to leave his beef with Suriyeli on the back burner until the Arab-Turk stable war is resolved.
Tier 3 Injury Update
  • Sigrid will return on the Up-And-Coming after Mayhem, 20 November 2024, which is one month after she was cleared to leave the IR.
  • Chun Kiman was reassessed and he will be back in three weeks.
  • Jamaal Andrews' suspension is half-over. He will return on the Slobberknocker after Mayhem.

FINAL PPV RESULTS

EWA Mayhem, 16 November 2024, Anchorage, Alaska
  • The Troublemakers (Stacks, The Morrisons, and Jacoby) def. Wantoks (Jon Kabitana, Jordan Natapei, Patrick Déhu, and Waisale Semiti) in a 4-on-4 elimination match. After the first ten minutes, it got very lopsided, very fast, even though Jacoby was the first man pinned (by Jordan Natapei)! After Stacks had pinned Waisale Semiti, Patrick Déhu squandered a golden chance after hitting a Stunner on Rocky Morrison, but instead of pinning him, he decided to "soften up" Stan Morrison by double-teaming him with Jordan Natapei. HUGE mistake, and Eamon Kelly rightly said, "I've seen rookies make less glaring mistakes than this!" Of course, he would find this out the hard way when Rocky came to without Jon (who was busy with Stacks) or Jordan (who was focussed on Stan) noticing; the younger Morrison attempted a School Boy pin and got a two count, but even after Déhu kicked out, Rocky went into overdrive and eventually finished Déhu off with the Hard Place, then double-teamed Natapei and eventually finished him off with a tandem move we learned later was called "Takin' 'Em To Motown!" Something tells me Patrick Déhu is going to get it with both barrels when The Coral Sea Crushers find out about his blunder! In any case, Kabitana would soon find himself outnumbered three to one. He tried to go down fighting, but there were just too many Troublemakers! It was Stacks who delivered the final blow with a Toppler.
  • Letícia and Lulu def. Janey Campbell and Baxee by pinfall. Actually not too bad a match considering none of these women are in the upper ranks of the rookies (although Baxee is markedly better on paper than the other three). It was definitely the best match of either Letícia's or Lulu's career, though, as they showed a lot of fight in spite of being slightly lower in the ratings. There were a couple key moves that led to the win. Letícia managed to dodge Out Of Space by Baxee (if she had hit that the match would have been over), causing the Jamaican to land directly on her knees - while it didn't cause a serious injury (as she rolled through), it did slow her down, and forced her to tag out when Janey Campbell was still a bit tired. The second was Lulu turning an Irish Whip against Campbell, ducking a lariat and flattening her with a springboard Moonsault! The match would have ended slightly sooner had Baxee not blind-tagged her out off an Irish Whip from Lulu, but the montréalaise was too quick for Baxee to handle for particularly long and she ended the match with the Décret Divine.
  • Damhnait Cowan def. Amy McIver (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 3 Women's TV Title! (Third reign) This is the kind of great match you'd expect from two main-eventers, and while McIver has "paid her dues" over a six-year stint in the lowest tier, the rookie Damhnait Cowan is demonstrating the kind of performance that a veteran of a few years would be expected to put forward! There is a very good reason she is the top-rated rookie (three ratings points ahead of Masato Tajiri) and now on TV Title reign #3 - her technical skills are already very well-developed! McIver fought hard and even got a near three-count on the Northern Irish woman, and you should've seen the look on her face when Cowan kicked out of the KittCutt! Cowan fought her way back into the match and eventually put the Kittian vet Down And Out for the 1-2-3.
  • Marcin Djokić © def. Dan Kassaye by pinfall to retain the Tier 3 Men's TV Title. These two didn't hold back in spite of being stablemates in the God Squad! It was great back-and-forth, but Djokić's superior strength won the day this time. After a 20-minute battle of power and wits, Djokić hit the White Eagle Slam for the pinfall. The two shook hands afterwards. "You got me this time, but I'll pay you back one of these days," Kassaye said with a chuckle.
  • Felipe Goicochea and Rami def. Eldon Howell and Orane Gainsborough by pinfall. Squash. It would be easy to forget that last season, Rami was actually in Tier 2. Unless you watched this match. :P His best match of the year, Rami didn't get back out after being tagged in by Goicochea after just two minutes. Orane Gainsborough didn't know what was about to hit him, but Rami showed the kind of form that got him into Tier 2 in the first place after he tagged in - speed, agility, and high-impact moves were the name of the game, all the way up to the Guatemalan hitting the Volcanic Eruption (a spinning version of the Michinoku Driver) for the 1-2-3. Only took six minutes.
  • Denzel Bryant def. Roger Vélez by pinfall in a Chairs Match. This got pretty brutal as could be expected from a match where the usage of steel chairs is the main gimmick! Both men were bloodied at the end of it all, but in Bryant's case his bust-open wasn't on the final move! He got decked hard over the head with a chair and the impact was actually on the edge, causing Denzel to go down in obvious pain. But he completed the match and even exacted a receipt right at the end. He won the match with the Reggae Drop into a flattened chair, causing Vélez's scalp to split under his mask. It was noted when even after he won the match, he didn't stick around to gloat as heels often do but went back to the biobed room.
  • Katie O'Martin and Bruce Stuart, Jr. def. Transatlantic (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 3 Intergender Tag Team Championship! (First reign!) While it was Katie O'Martin pinning Lucimar Junqueira with the St. Peter's Cross for the win, you have to give credit where credit is due and prop up Bruce Stuart, Jr. for doing as well as he did against seasoned veteran Kicham Alami. His technical game was on point, and were it not for a blind tag by his Portuguese tag team partner seconds earlier, Alami may have been forced into a tap as the younger Stuart had a Regal Stretch locked in and had moved to the centre of the ring! I guess that doesn't matter in the end as Junqueira was greatly overpowered by the Irishwoman.
  • HALFTIME EVENT: Gang Warfare Match - Turkestan def. The Arab League, one wrestler remaning (Metin Segem).
    • Arab League roster: El Águila Marroquí, Zaher Shaaban, Masud Rayyani, and Shaquille
    • Turkestan roster: Metin Segem, Ulughbek İslomov, Myrat Süleýmanow, and Suriyeli
    • This was a lot closer than most people thought it was going to be - then again, most people had the Arabs winning this. It was really the work of Ulughbek İslomov that won them the match even though Zaher Shaaban pinned him thanks to Locked On, when he was still holding a chair. İslomov did away with both their rookies (after Suriyeli caught a thorough beating and Süleýmanow made a silly error leading to him being ousted by Masud Rayyani) through his hardcore expertise relative to basically everyone else in the match, even putting Shaquille through a table with his Hail To The Chief finisher! He also caught El Águila Marroquí in mid-air when the latter was attempting an Eagle Strike and reversed him into a sitout powerbomb for the 1-2-3. After İslomov was eliminated, though, Segem took advantage of Shaaban being slower to get up and overpowered him, eventually hitting the İstanbomb into a steel chair to end the match.
  • Intermission
  • Kim & Turkington © def. Mann & McIver by submission to retain the Tier 3 Women's Tag Team Championship. This was just not Amy McIver's day, was it? Having already lost the Women's TV Title, it was her being in the clutches of the Belfast Crab that lost them the match, as hard as they did fight. Neither of them was going to beat Kim Jae-Hwa's ferocity, so they had to think outside the box to get Turkington in. Apparently Mann playing dead after a particularly stiff strike was the tactic as Kim figured she'd go for Gettin' Higgy Wit' It, which she did only to be countered. But Turkington was not the pushover Kasia Mann or Amy McIver thought she'd be. She actually almost got Mann in the Belfast Crab, but the Indo-Canadian scrambled over to get a tag. Turkington stuck to her game plan (and everything like that) and actually did get the tap from McIver.
  • Sergeant Letsego def. Deng Natali (pc) by submission to win the Tier 3 Americas Championship! (First reign!) First being promoted on Slobberknocker and then repaying Général Bernard's faith in him with a huge win for his first non-TV singles title! It seems the Motswana has blossomed into quite the skilled technical wrestler! He was able to neutralize Deng Natali's power advantage with submission techniques, even though the big South Sudanese-born grappler did get in a couple of big slams early. While it wasn't always the most exciting wrestling to watch, it got the job done, and eventually Letsego got a tap with the Kalahari Clutch.
  • Hosny bin Sabry def. Wellington Gounod (pc) by submission to win the Tier 3 Cruiserweight Championship! (Second reign) Suriyeli's pathetic attempt at interference (which was cut short by Michael Colding) backfired, leading to bin Sabry's win, but that's not to take away from the Norwegian Kurd in any way! Bin Sabry demonstrated good tactics in this one, using his superior mat technique to keep Gounod grounded. He was about to go for his Fall of Nineveh finisher (which is almost the same as Gounod's Voodoo Bomb but has a slingshot start) when Suriyeli grabbed his leg. Only seconds later, Michael Colding rushed down to ringside to clear him out, but the referee thought he was about to interfere. "Dude, he's my stablemate! I'm not going to hurt him! I am going to hurt the jabroni who grabbed his leg, though!" Welly Gounod went for a risky flying clothesline, but bin Sabry (and Colding) got out of his way at the last second, and Gounod went for a bit of a tumble. The Caribbean Connection leader was admittedly rather irked that there was actual interference, but bin Sabry took advantage of the distraction and flattened Gounod with a reverse Hurricanrana off the ring apron! Taking him back into the ring, he locked in a Kurdish Crossface for an eventual tap.
  • As for Suriyeli, he was dragged backstage by Michael Colding and unceremoniously dumped in Turkestan's locker room after the match. He was very blunt with Metin Segem: "Judging by your Pyrrhic victory over the Arabs earlier, we are the last stable you want to piss off right now!" Given their higher average rating overall, Michael Colding kinda has a point!
  • Kim Jae-Hwa © def. Tamara Stevens by pinfall to retain the Tier 3 Women's Championship. Although Tamara Stevens has been on a great run this year, she just did not have the ferocity of the Korean tornado that is Kim Jae-Hwa, and was worn down by the Squad woman leader's precision strikes and slightly stiff slams. To Stevens' credit, she did mount a couple of impressive runs of offence but just couldn't get the Tam-Tam Slam off as Kim slipped out of the setup for it twice. Kim wore her down enough that she was able to land a Korean Spike to finish the match after just fourteen minutes and twenty-six seconds.
  • Masato Tajiri def. Morrissey (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 3 Hardcore Championship! (Second reign - the first time a rookie has held a Hardcore Championship more than once in any tier!) It's official. Masato Tajiri has made history and can now be considered at least something of an all-time great in the Hardcore Division even though he's only been in Tier 3 a single year! Donovan Kristinssen said it best: "The spirit of ECW is alive and well within the young man that bears the name of two Japanese hardcore legends! Morrissey is good and all, but Tajiri is just on a whole 'nother level, and now he's going to be at Winter War, the fourth and final of the year's marquee events! I think he realizes the gravity of this situation, but he just keeps getting better! And this Anchorage crowd is giving him some well-deserved applause for the show he put on!" ECW chants aside, you could hear the crowd audibly wince when Buzzsaw Jr. landed his trademark kicks, the last of which did Morrissey in as the latter was seated in a setup steel chair, having been dizzied by a previous one. "Where's Joey when you need him?" - Eamon Kelly
  • Asylum © def. The Laaksonens by submission to retain the Tier 3 Tag Team Championship. It was certainly a valiant effort by the Finnish Twins, but they were outdone by the stronger and more experienced Tua and the more technically sound and much crazier Patrick Taitano. The Laaksonens did put up some offence and tried to get Taitano up for a Doomsday Device, but the Guamaniac managed to slip off Aki's shoulders in time to get Arttu (the legal man) to back off... before Tua shoved him off the top turnbuckle! In the end it was the Chamorro Choke that got the tap after Taitano knocked Arttu's feet out from under him with a sweep kick after the Finn had knocked him over. Pretty heads-up stuff! Handshakes were on the house after the match ended.
  • Sub-Lieutenant Sethunya def. Rihard Pretner © by pinfall to win the Tier 3 Old World Championship! (First reign) 2024 has been an annus mirabilis for Sethunya as he just continues going from strength to strength, winning his first titles this year - first Americas, then Men's TV, then Tag Team with then-Lance Corporal Letsego, and now his first Old World Championship! And it was a good match between two power brawlers. It isn't often you see someone reverse the Triglav Driver but that's exactly what Sethunya did, hitting Pretner with a Tombstone piledriver followed by Bling Bang when Pret got up to try and shake out the cobwebs! That was good enough for the pinfall!
  • MAIN EVENT: Steve Jeffers def. Kristijan Bogišić and Lieutenant Rozentals (pc) by pinfall in a Triad Match to win the Tier 3 EWA Championship! (Second reign, Bogišić not pinned) In spite of his promotion (undoubtedly as much due to his exploits in Tier 2 as it is due to his Tier 3 EWA Championship), Rozentals couldn't quite get one over on Steve Jeffers, who in spite of being the elder Jeffers also has fewer Tier 3 EWA Championships to his name, with this being just his second versus Reid's four. But this is hardly due to lack of skill - if anything, the 39-year-old has had one of the best years of his lengthy EWA career and has come into his own as a rock-solid stable leader for Dark & Dangerous! He managed to counter a Rozenbomb into a falling DDT at one point, which saved his match and represented a pretty hard shift in its momentum; Rozentals did fight back hard enough that he didn't get finished off within a couple minutes, but after twenty-seven minutes and forty seconds of total matchtime, Jeffers got the three-count after landing a Tombstone Piledriver on him. But where was Bogišić the whole time? Apparently being prevented from reaching the ring and was counted out!
  • After the match, Ángel Lorenzo Batista came out and announced that, because of the interference of Paranormal, the entire stable will be suspended for the final cycle of 2024, and Reid Jeffers will actually face Kristijan Bogišić, knowing full well that if Bogey wins, they will probably start the new year with the Tier 3 EWA Championship vacant!
EWA First Blood, 17 November 2024, Edmonton, Alberta
  • Captain Redbeard def. The Swabbies (Buccaneer Briggs and ibn Fatih) by pinfall in a Handicap match (Constance barred from ringside). The "mutiny" that Captain Redbeard walked in on on Blitz this past week bore its full fruit here in the PPV, and Redbeard was taking no prisoners, showing just how dominant he is physically against both Briggs, who is a cruiserweight, and ibn Fatih, who isn't very big in his own right. They were both made to Walk The Plank, although Briggs lasted just a couple of minutes while ibn Fatih actually put up something of a fight. You don't often see the one guy squash two in a handicap match, but that's precisely what happened here!
  • Constance def. Rhiannon by pinfall in a Last Chance Match - Rhiannon has to waive her immunity from relegation. Ironically, this was the least sloppy we've seen Rhiannon since she dropped to Tier 2, just that Constance was always a step ahead of her. It helps that the Captain's Mate just happens to be faster than the Old Welsh Bitch. :P Rhiannon fought her heart out, though. She even connected with her Witchblade finisher for the first time on TV for a rather long time! (We've seen it at house shows.)  Although she did mount some good offence after that, some questionable tactics from Constance reversed the momentum and a couple minutes later she hit Woman Overboard for the 1-2-3. A visibly dejected Rhiannon went back to the backstage area slowly. In spite of her recent improvements, it appears she's doomed to relegation.
  • Isobel def. Ángela (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 2 Women's TV Title! (Second reign) This was fun to watch! While the match was only ten minutes long it was frantic action the whole time, with not even a semblance of stalling. The fans loved it. Both wrestlers basically emptied their entire arsenal on each other, shy of Ángela hitting the Chiva Drop, because she got countered into a sitout powerbomb by the Moth Queen. Eventually the latter hit Mothballed for the 1-2-3.
  • Kai Attinen © def. Major Mitch by pinfall to retain the Tier 2 Men's TV Title. Mitch had this one but took too much time gloating for the Tropical Storm to actually connect. Attinen recovered enough gas in the tank to slip out of the Dominican's finisher. But not only did he do so, he countered it with a falling reverse DDT and turned the momentum around with a few lariats, a powerslam, and an Irish Whip into a flapjack before finishing the match with the Jumpscare.
  • Las Divas def. The Robanos and Tsunneko in a Triad Tag Match. Much to everyone's surprise, it was the two Troupers that were the first to be eliminated rather than The Robanos. You'd've thought with the animosity between Eva Clark and the Robanos she'd've gone after her two fellow Mexicans first! But no, both teams thought it somewhat insulting that Sexy Streamer wouldn't face them on her own, so they took it out on her stablemates. But you could tell that the animosity was there when Carlota and Martina Robano started fighting over who was going to pin Harumi Kitagawa after Tamara had landed a Hurricanrana on her. Carlota then dished out two High Notes and pinned Kitagawa, then tagged Eva in. And then the real rough stuff began in earnest as Eva went to town on Martina Robano - it was clear the intent was to injure. Finally, she took Martina's hand and tagged Tamara in with it, and continued the rampage. The match ended when Clark finally tagged in Carlota again, and the two made Tamara Take A Bow for the 1-2-3.
  • Hayastan (Crash KTM, Jonny Armaghanyan, and the Tenkerian Brothers) def. Alpine Academy Men (Dario Krznar, Andreas Koellendamm, Viktor von Hesse, and Théo Beaujean) by pinfall in an 8-man tag match. I guess Alpine Academy shouldn't've been so rude to Crash, eh? By match's end the fans were booing supposed faces and cheering supposed heels (more of the former as Crash and Armaghanyan are considered faces anyway). While we did see all eight men in the ring we saw a disproportionate amount of Jonny, and that ended up being a good thing as Madman Jonny hit The Shining for the 1-2-3 on Viktor von Hesse.
  • Mortal Kombat © def. Aurora Australis by submission to retain the Tier 2 Women's Tag Team Championship. Closer than expected, but still with the expected result. The two martial arts experts really wore AA down with their precision strikes and mat technique, but the latter were still able to get some offence in. Indeed, Anelís almost locked the Dessicator in on Qian Qian-Min but the Chinese phenomenon was able to wriggle her way out of it. Several minutes later, it was Qian locking in a hold on Anelís, and this time there was no getting out of it. After hitting Drag Me To Hell, Qian got a quick tap with the Demonic Possession.
  • HALFTIME EVENT: Deathcore def. The Nauruan National Wrestling Team (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 2 Tag Team Championship! (Fifth reign) Deathcore re-established themselves as Tier 2's best tag team through blood, sweat, and tears here. We saw the first kickout ever from The World's Strongest Fatburner (Agir's falling powerbomb finisher) as Heavy Devy dug deep to kick out, and somehow catch Agir in the face with his knee in the process. This would buy him enough time to tag in J-Shred, who went after Shawn Agir with zeal, only losing him when Kennan Aroi blind-tagged himself in. It seemed the best decision at the time but would end up backfiring as within a few minutes he was finding himself Needled 24/7 and pinned.
  • Intermission
  • Willie Giove def. Raitis Janvāris (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 2 Americas Championship! (Ninth reign) Willie Giove already held the record for most Americas Championship reigns but has been out of the title scene for a while. Now he's back after a solid outing against the larger Janvāris, who actually didn't half-ass it in the slightest although some thought he might. Janvaris was close to hitting a Self-Bias Resistor but Giove got out of it in mid-air by kicking the big Latvian in the mid-section. Giove then used submission holds to soften him up and then finally (and impressively) hit the Imbroglio (like this but without the theatrics or the release) for the pin.
  • Colby Shelley © def. Tungsten by pinfall to retain the Tier 2 Hardcore Championship. Boy did this get brutal! We saw every manner of weapon used, except for maybe a vacuum cleaner! But one of the most painful moments to watch was seeing Shelley use a hockey stick below the belt on Tungsten. "I've seen hockey players get fired from their teams for that!" - Al Snow. The look on "The Essence Of Metal's" face was hilarious! He oversold the low blow well enough to merit himself an Oscar! But Tungsten was able to draw blood on Shelley by using a pizza cutter on his forehead! "Cosh" responded a couple minutes later by putting him through a table on the outside by hitting the Game Misconduct off the ring apron. 1-2-3. Match over.
  • Robbie Irschick def. Taiaho (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 2 Old World Championship! (First reign!) This was a great match that had the crowd buzzing! Taiaho practically matched the larger Irschick's strength for most of the match and it took a slipup on his part to help The Métis Menace have the opening he needed for the Cash-In... but Taiaho kicked out of the first two of those! Taiaho bounced back and would put Irschick in a Kiwi Clutch, but big Robbie was able to get to the ropes just in the nick of time. Irschick needed something more drastic than the Cash-In this time and instead hit Taiaho with a shouten! That was enough to do the trick!
  • Easy Lovers vs. Headbangers' Ball (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 2 Intergender Tag Team Championship! (First reign!) People love Headbangers' Ball, but they also love an underdog. And given the quality of this match, the fans were very vocal in their appreciation of the match, with the "That Was Awesome!" chants echoing in Rogers Place! We saw a little bit of everything. We saw power moves, mostly from Heavy Devy. We saw mat technique, mostly from Yuriko but also from Corbo. We saw everybody but Devy take to the air! We saw martial arts and striking from both women. We saw brawling from the men. We saw back-and-forth offence. But ultimately, we saw Irina Valdez counter an attempt at the Deathstrike to hit her Crown Breaker finisher for the 1-2-3.
  • Sonya Craig def. Nick Matthew (pc) to win the Tier 2 Cruiserweight Championship! (First reign - and probably only one too because she's surely heading to Tier 1!) Intergender tag partners, stablemates, likely promotees... and foes for the Cruiserweight Championship! And this was a very close matchup even in spite of Sonya Craig being a woman and having a height disadvantage. She is deceivingly strong against men! And she relied on her usual cocktail of high-impact and power slams to wear Nick Matthew down - he had trouble knowing how to deal with his fellow indigenous Canadian! Yes, she did go airborne a couple of times but mostly stayed grounded, as opposed to Matthew, who tried to use his vaunted aerial technique to reclaim the advantage. It didn't work. Craig would hit the Prospector's Plunge after eleven minutes and claim her first and likely only Cruiserweight Championship in Tier 2!
  • Sexy Streamer def. Rebekah Gerhardt (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 2 Women's Championship! (Strict no-interference clause - anyone interfering will be instantly relegated to Tier 3!)(Third reign). No distractions. No dirty tricks. Just fifteen solid minutes of pure wrestling. Rebekah Gerhardt seemed a bit nervous out there, wondering when the Mexican was going to go for a cheapshot, but she never did, not even one of her sneaky eye-pokes! Rather, she countered Gerhardt's striking and technique with speed, dodges aplenty, and some thrilling lucha libre moves - Moonsaults, a couple tornado DDTs, a springboard dropkick, a couple snap suplexes, and all sorts of other goodies - but the most amazing part was that she was able to get Becky up for the Troll Raid when she could just as easily have stuck to the Sexy Swanton! While Rebekah Gerhardt had a couple of spurts of offence, it was mostly The Sexy One controlling this match, which is impressive considering Gerhardt just came down from Tier 1 back in February!
  • Gang Warfare Match: Anti-Corruption Army def. La Raza, six wrestlers left!
    • ACA roster: Brigadier Zerbo, Colonel Kerathyriou, Major Saidaliyev, Squad Leader Odom, Captain Comoros, Captain Bakar, Sergeant Major Mboya, and Sergeant Akintunde
    • La Raza roster: Cabal, AJ Sandoval, Benito Guerrera, Marco Robano, DJ Carlito, Sansone, Dolfo, Valenciano
    • I don't even remember the last time we saw such a squash in a Gang Warfare match! Yes, Cabal got a legit pinfall on Sergeant Major Mboya, and Benito Guerrera and Marco Robano double-teamed Captain Bakar for a pinfall, but besides that it was literally all ACA, proof that La Raza needs to add some size and fast. The star of this one was actually Major Saidaliyev, who got three members of La Raza - AJ Sandoval, DJ Carlito, and Dolfo - to tap with the Chechen Choke. But we also saw some pretty hardcore stuff, which is permissible in Gang Warfare! And nobody does hardcore on either team nearly as well as Squad Leader Odom, who had two eliminations in his own right, taking Cabal out by Ghana Bombing him through a table and causing Sansone to be eliminated by TKO by Awesome Bombing him out of the ring and into a well-placed table! (Don't worry, his "injuries" are only kayfabe) The other eliminations were Colonel Kerathyriou getting a 1-2-3 on Marco Robano with The Horn into a steel chair, Brigadier Zerbo getting Benito Guerrera with the Call To Arms, and Sergeant Akintunde hitting Valenciano with a Bullseye on a setup steel chair.
  • MAIN EVENT: Timi Vinidi def. Riku Kimmonen (pc) by pinfall to win the Tier 2 EWA Championship! (Second reign) We had just come off saying that the last time the big Fijian had a run like this, he won the Tier 2 EWA Championship! I guess lightning does strike twice in the same location if you wait long enough! It was a close match but it seemed the Fijian winning his first EWA Championship in 11 years was just meant to be, as he eventually started to overpower the Finn in a lengthy bout of brawling before hitting him with a gargoyle suplex as a lead up to his Fijian Bomb finisher. Not content with just one, he hit the move again to make sure he could keep Riku down for a three-count!
Post-PPV Injury Report

Tier 2
  • Although Eva Clark's intent to injure was strictly kayfabe, she actually did end up injuring Martina Robano, but it was relatively minor. Some strained back muscles. She'll miss a week.
  • Shawn Agir has a slightly fractured cheekbone from the knee to the face he took from Heavy Devy. He has opted to sit two weeks (with biobed therapy in the meantime) and then return wearing a hard mask.
  • Besides stitches to both men, neither Colby Shelley nor Tungsten suffered any injuries in spite of the brutality of their match!
  • While Sansone's injuries were kayfabe, Valenciano's most certainly was not. He is on concussion protocol and it is suspected he has a grade 1 or 2 concussion.
Tier 3
  • Both Denzel Bryant and Roger Vélez required staples to close their wounds from the Chairs Match. Neither will miss any action but expect Roger Vélez to be wearing a hard mask under his regular mask for a time!
  • Michael Colding wasn't kidding when he said Turkestan's win over the Arab League was a Pyrrhic victory, as two members of the stable came out injured! Ulughbek İslomov and Myrat Süleýmanow are both on concussion protocol, as also is the League's Shaquille. It's expected that İslomov will clear reassessment, but the other two will probably have to sit the full two weeks if not longer. İslomov will still be out at least a week, though.

SUMMING UP THE WEEK (TIER 1 ONLY), 11-17 NOVEMBER 2024

Tier 1 Title Picture
  • Uprising's main event will see Sebastian Brown face Tris Marks for the #1 contender spot to face Dean Chapman for the EWA Championship at Advent. Brown turned aside long-term frenemy Don George to claim his spot while Marks added another chapter to the growing rivalry between him and his former stablemate Hakan Berat by besting him on Excelsior.
  • Giammarco Scibetta and Dominik Alexandros are main-eventing Excelsior this coming week with a no-interference clause in place to prevent Mattias Vlahos from getting involved... providing Death Incarnate even wants to show his face after getting destroyed by Dean Chapman last week! In any case, the winner will face Takhir Teteriuk for the EWA Old World Championship
  • Paul Morgenstern is now set to face Marko Myllyjärvi at Advent for the Americas Championship! The Menacing Mennonite exploded for two big wins this week, beating Demitros Lavriakis with some unintentional help from Sam I Am on Excelsior then beating Shavo Gurzadian on Maniacal to lock up the spot after Slava Antropov lost to Sam I Am by DQ on Uprising.
  • JP Myllyjärvi beat Vaško Prodanović on Uprising and Turan Efendiyev on Roughhousin' to punch his ticket to Advent to face Goran Šimeunović for the EWA Hardcore Championship .
  • Roughhousin' is going to have a fun main event! It'll be Flying Four after all this week's matches did was cause a near-gridlock in the Cruiserweight rankings, so it'll be Kazuyoshi Takahashi, Gabazon, Bassam al-Wadud, and a rebounding Janne Myllyjärvi squaring off to see who faces Marko Gogić!
  • Rather than try to sort out the rankings mess in the Women's division, Kris Senior instead decided to make the Women's Championship match a Hexagon match, with Marina set to face Persephone, Yukiko Kawachi, Danae Pathakos, Apollyon, and Elisabeth! It's going to be a good one!
  • The Unstoppables had no problem with facing multiple opponents as Kris Junior declared after Maniacal's prematurely-ended main event between the Constanţius and the Samoan Studs that both teams would face Andros and Dean for the EWA Tag Team Championship. See why below.
  • The Sentai got a huge win this week over KoldChix while The Sha-Shas beat The Krissies. The two winning teams will face each other on Excelsior to determine who will meet Strong & Proud at Advent!
  • As for the Intergender Tag Team division, we saw a sizable "upset" on Excelsior as Žabranič Strong went down hard against Pathakos-Gogić, who are looking to increase their EWA record number of title reigns to fourteen! This isn't just the record for Tier 1's Intergender Tag, for Tier 1, or for all Intergender Tag teams, either - it is the record for any tag team of any sort in any tier, tied with The Magnussens' thirteen Tier 2 Women's Tag Team Championships! They sit one clear of 2Kold's twelve for the Tier 1 record for any kind of tag team as well! They have the chance now to go all alone up top as they have been declared #1 contenders for Sapporo Steel's belts!
  • To no one's great surprise, Tris Marks lost the Men's TV Title to Andros Pathakos (his fourteenth overall but just his second in the last decade), who then vacated the belt more or less immediately. Nick Trentham beat Gordan Bogdanovič to win it and successfully defended against Ricardo Benítez. This week's challengers are Wing Commander Ángel, Dion Prince, L-Wolf, and Gylych Turesbekov, and the challenger for Advent will be released tomorrow.
  • Sara Wylie looked pretty good this week, only losing in a very long match against Kristina Efendiyeva on Roughhousin'. The Squadder is still the Women's TV Champion, beating Nadja on Maniacal. Unlike the men, we already know who the challenger will be for the women at Advent - Angie van Eijkeren. But Ana Mirković, Shakira, Gaill McIntyre, and Rowdy Rebecca stand in between Sara Wylie and the PPV!
Other Tier 1 Rivalry/Stable News
  • First of all, something everyone saw coming. Rowdy Rebecca has joined the Nordic Union.
  • The Deathly Order found out the hard way that Dominik Alexandros is protected. The First Family laid out four Deathlies on Excelsior.
  • Gerry Granger and Marat Gurzadian are set to face each other at Advent as Gurzadian tried to maul Granger the same way Granger did him the previous week.
  • GANG WARFARE!! The Lithuanian-Nordic alliance, calling itself the Baltic Alliance, is ready to go head to head against the Deathly Order against the odds!
    • But there's a catch here, as Sam I Am now has it in for Demitros Lavriakis (and vice versa!) after happenings of this week - Sam I Am inadvertently caused Demitros Lavriakis a match against Paul Morgenstern by hitting his stablemate rather than the Squadder, because the latter ducked, but Lavriakis escalated the situation by deliberately causing the demented Islander a match against Nikolaj Bogdanovič on Uprising! Rather than have both involved, Mattias Vlahos has invited Antonio Sabatti to temporarily join them and ordered Sam and Demitros to sort out their differences at Advent, where the loser between the two must leave the Order.
  • There is likely to be a de facto four-on-two handicap match at as we have Team Lietuva Women and Naarasleijonat set to take on SOS in a Triple Threat match!
  • Although Rosa Pathakos got a win on Excelsior, it didn't prepare her for Nana Álvarez to deck her upside the head with a kendo stick! The two will now face each other at Advent!
  • Alexey Danilov and Waclaw Iwański have both been barred from Advent after interefering in the Constanţius vs. Samoans match on Maniacal, but that didn't prevent the Polynesians from taking matters into their own hands as the two interferers would be attacked backstage. The ACA also sent a very stern warning their way that any further interference would result in Yevraziya being attacked on the whole.
Tier 1 Injury Update
  • Arvydas Maklėvičius returned on Roughhousin' and had his first match back on Maniacal.
  • Gerry Granger has said he is likely to come back on Uprising.
  • No change for Grigor Zagorakis, Arik Ginzburg, or Minas Tenkerian.

(This post was last modified: 11-25-2024, 04:14 AM by Jarkko.)
RESULTS, EWA ADVENT, 24 NOVEMBER 2024, PHOENIX, ARIZONA
  • Gerry Granger def. Marat Gurzadian by pinfall in a Standard Hardcore match (narrow rules-FCA). This match got brutal as you could expect. Even Joey Styles gagged at some of the things Gerry did to Marat, and Marat tried to answer in kind but wasn't going to outdo having his back raked by a cheese grater... twice! Tables were broken. Chairs were dented. Kendo sticks got splintered. Marat snapped a hockey stick over Gerry's back and ran a pizza cutter across his forehead. Risks were taken. We even saw the 7-foot tall, 342-pound Granger drop a big elbow from the top turnbuckle! But you knew it was going to get really brutal when it went outside the ring. And at the end, it was Gerry hitting a Bristol Blackout off the stage into a couple of tables! What a way to kick this PPV off!
  • Rosa Pathakos def. Nana Álvarez by pinfall. Nana's best match this year, but still not that good. Rosa brought her A-game and a few dirty tricks with it. She kept her compatriot grounded with a combination of submission wrestling and cheap shots, while herself using some high-risk aerial moves as she went along. The crowd was deafening in its boos when the match finally ended after Rosa hit a Spanish Fly on Nana for the 1-2-3.
  • Granger explained his decision to wrestle at Advent when he said he was going to skip out. "These bloody Armenians have been harassing the lads since Minas Tenkerian got hurt. It was my prerogative to put a stop to that, innit?"
  • Team Lietuva Women def. SOS and Naarasleijonat by pinfall. This was a Triple Threat match (although not overtly billed thus) but it might as well have been a 4-on-2. SOS got mugged here, and with Apollyon being kept backstage by the Deathly Order leadership, there was nothing she could do in the matter, not that it would've mattered anyway because they would still have been outnumbered! Sabrina really got the worst of it as Abi was knocked off the ring apron and into the barricade by a suicide Spear by Vera Ukkonen. The coolest spot in the match was when Viktore and Pamela Kimmonen did their finishers on the same woman right alongside each other - Pamela hit Sabrina in the legs with the Snowbunny Splash while Viktore dropped the Lithuanian Leg Drop across her face and chest. That wasn't quite enough to get the pin but Danute's Straight Jacket Fashion did the trick mere minutes later. Not even the slightest bit of animosity between TL and the two Finns.
  • Tristan Vlahos def. Dion Prince (pc) by pinfall to win the EWA Men's TV Title! (Third reign) This was a good match, one of the longer TV Title tilts of the year. Dion's strength was formidable and he almost got the 1-2-3 with Brick City Bidness, but somehow the smaller Vlahos fought out of it. Vlahos mounted some offence of his own, but was countered for about a five minute period before finding his groove again. He would finish the match with the Isolde Cutter, and afterwards there was a handshake.
  • Pathakos-Gogić def. Sapporo Steel © by pinfall to win the EWA Intergender Tag Team Championship (14th reign!) Nobody does Intergender tag wrestling better than Danae Pathakos and Marko Gogić! The two lovebirds practically invented the EWA style of intergender wrestling, so they know the ins and outs of it all and that experience was vital in besting the technically-skilled Sapporo Steel. And since both Danae Pathakos and Yukiko Kawachi are cruiserweight opt-ins, anyone could wrestle anyone in this one! In fact, Danae Pathakos got the final pin on Hokkaido Harrier after he whiffed on two lariats and Danae, moving at breakneck speed, hit him with the Drive-By for the 1-2-3 as Marko Gogić was restraining Yukiko Kawachi.
  • Kaélos Pathakos approached his wife Rosa and said, sternly, "We need to talk."
  • Shakira © def. Angie van Eijkeren by pinfall to retain the EWA Women's TV Title. Given how Angie is one of the greatest Tier Women's TV Champions ever, it's no surprise she's already contending for it in Tier 1 (it didn't even exist last time she was in the top flight), but it'll be a little while yet before she wins it for the first time, methinks. It was close though. There were times where Shakira had her number, there were times when it looked like she had Shakira's, and there were times where even Silas was befuddled as to who was going to win. They wrestle very similar styles and are roughly the same size. It came down to endurance, and apparently Shakira has more, or at least did tonight, being able to kick out of De Dutch Treat and then come all the way back in the following seven minutes and hit the Coronation for the 1-2-3.
  • Sam I Am def. Demitros Lavriakis, who now must leave the Deathly Order, by pinfall. Both these men fought like caged animals and even though there was no Hardcore in the match, it got pretty rough. Sam I Am's eye rake really had Joey going, but it wasn't as if Demitros was exactly a saint in his own right with a thumb to the eye and later a low blow! It was a short, twisted, action-packed match that finally ended when Lavriakis had a pop-up powerbomb attempt countered by a Frankensteiner, then he got put on the turnbuckle, where Sam set up for his renamed Death Rain (formerly TIMBER!!!) and hit it with full force, getting the 1-2-3. Afterwards, he looked down on his vanquished foe and laughed with unbridled insanity!
  • HALFTIME EVENT: Persephone def. Yukiko Kawachi, Danae Pathakos, Apollyon, Elisabeth, and Marina (pc) in a Hexagon Match to win the EWA Women's Championship! (Third reign) As predicted, the five challengers all ganged up on Marina from the opening bell, but it actually didn't take long for them to take down the Amazon Queen as Persephone was front and centre in combating her with strikes and big slams. She even hammed up the Jillhammer a bit! By then, we saw the other women pair off against each other and Sephie landed the big move, then followed it up with a Chest Burster for the 1-2-3. And then another completely unsurprising thing happened - Sephie went right after her former tag partner Apollyon! The Queen of Destruction was attacking Danae Pathakos when she was abruptly caught by a Clothesline from Hades that made Gail Kim wince! "That's gonna leave a mark! She is out!" The ref called for the bell, giving Persephone the elimination by KO. Yukiko Kawachi got a tap out of Elisabeth and decided she wanted to pay Danae Pathakos back for the earlier loss in Intergender Tag action, and they got heated for a while while Sephie caught her breath. Probably not a good idea to take your eyes off anyone like her though! After a few minutes of pounding on each other, they were both showing signs of fatigue, and that's when The Queen of Spring sprang her trap and smacked their heads together. She went after Danae first, trying to get her to submit with a triangle choke (she got her foot on the rope) and then finishing her off with a Chest Burster, then dodged a Thesz Press attempt by Kawachi and rebounded into a Spear, following this up with a Jillhammer. Persephone is quickly becoming one of the all-time best with her extreme talent!
  • Intermission
  • The Unstoppables © def. The Samoan Studs and The Constanţiu Twins in a Triad Match to retain the EWA Tag Team Championship. Ho-hum. Another day, another squash. Only this time it was against two teams. It could have been a handicap match and it would still have ended the same way because of Andros' scary strength and Dean's otherworldly skill. With Tornado rules in effect, everyone was in at once, and Andros fought off both Constanţiu Twins by himself and literally had them pinned in twenty-two seconds after simultaneously chokeslamming both with one hand each! He even pinned both! As for Dean, he used his surprising agility to dodge the attacks of both Samoan Studs for long enough to get an opening to unload with one of his trademark precision strikes - in this case, a chop on Tama Nimo that instantly dropped the elder Stud to the mat in pain. While he was otherwise incapacitated, Dean went after Iopa, landing a couple of slams, first a snap suplex then a spinebuster, then doing an Irish Whip and popping him up for Andros Pathakos to powerslam him with authority! Returning to Tama and leaving Iopa to Andros, Dean performed a gargoyle suplex followed by a Cold Snap and pinned him just as Andros landed a deafening turnbuckle slap on Iopa which got an OMG from Joey! "You could hear that outside the arena it was so loud!" - Silas. That whole match took just four minutes and forty-six seconds.
  • Gang Warfare: The Baltic Coalition (Kaspars Janvāris, Romulo Imperatorio, Benny Thorvaldssen, JJ Matsson, and Kennet Kjetilssen) def. The Deathly Order and allies (Mattias Vlahos, The Abominations, Antonio Sabatti, and Sam I Am), four wrestlers left. But they had help! If you thought they'd be outmatched, you thought wrong, as both Arvydas Maklėvičius and Žydrunas Janvāris made their triumphant returns to roaring applause! The face turn was complete as Druno literally kicked down the door of the cell, and since GW matchs are no-DQ, the ref couldn't do anything about it! While Mattias avoided serious injury, he was nevertheless taken down with a Lietuva Driver before being pinned by Žydrunas' cousin Kaspars. There were a couple of knockouts as well, as Arvydas Maklėvičius KOed Antonio Sabatti with a chair shot and Kennet Kjetilssen's well-trained feet put Kollector to sleep! Druno and Romulo Imperatorio teamed up with a Lietuva Driver/neckbreaker combo on Seven. Sam I Am felt a Kaunas Crunch from Maklėvičius before being locked in Fishy Got Problems by Thorvaldssen. Matsson was the only one from the winning coalition pinned, going down for a three count after going after Vlahos a little hastily and catching a Death's Sickle into a chair for his troubles. But the most painful fate awaited Sam I Am after he tapped to end the match. Vlahos had just gotten out of the cage when his lucid teammates started being thrown around like sacks of potatoes. JJ lit one of the tables on fire and got the heck out of the way as Žydrunas Awesome Bombed Seven out of the ring with authority!
  • The Sentai def. Strong & Proud (pc) by submission to win the EWA Women's Tag Team Championship! (Fourth reign) At least Yukiko won this one. After ample rest time and even a quick spin in a biobed, Yukiko looked refreshed and ready to take on the larger, stronger Strong & Proud alongside Ami Shimada. Shimada surprised the First Nations tag team by holding her own against Jane George, but it was when Yukiko entered the match that things really went downhill for them. She first went after Carly's arms with submission holds to lessen the strength of her feared punches, clotheslines, and lariats, then started going for a tap with a D'Arce Choke, a Muta Lock, and a crossface chickenwing. While Jack was able to get out of all three, she was exhausted by the time she finally tagged Jane back in, and the Metal Maiden took full advantage of her being more or less done, working on Jane with submission holds as well, then landing a couple of impact slams (a DDT and a facebuster among them) before going onto the turnbuckle for a Sentai Bomb. After Jane kicked out of that, Yukiko let Ami have the last move, tagging her in. Shimada locked in a katagatame for the tap.
  • Paul Morgenstern def. Marko Myllyjärvi (pc) by pinfall to win the EWA Americas Championship! (First reign!) While it's pretty obvious that Sam I Am is the favourite for Men's Rookie of the Year this year, Paul Morgenstern's had quite a good year in his own right, and now he's gotten his first non-TV open title! Marko put up a really good fight, but the turning point at around the twelve-minute mark was Morgenstern countering a Tavastia Twister by grabbing Marko by the sides before he could swing from a front facelock to a reverse one, turning, and throwing him out of the ring! When The Menacing Mennonite got him back in the ring he was quite sore, so the former had a little fun tossing him around a bit with some slams before finally Excommunicating him to win the match and his first Americas Championship!
  • Bassam al-Wadud def. Marko Gogić (pc) by pinfall to win the EWA Cruiserweight Championship! (Fourth reign) We saw a few new tricks from the Lebanese Tornado in this one! He is always good for several exhilarating high-risk moves, but now he can add a variation of a Sunset Flip powerbomb to it! After rendering Gogić kinda spindizzy from the head scissors takeovers, drop kicks, flying clotheslines, suplexes, and Tornado DDT that he threw at him, he countered a whiffed lariat with the move, which he calls the Final Judgement!
  • Takhir Teteriuk © def. Dominik Alexandros to retain the EWA Old World Championship. Blame this on Mattias Vlahos. The match went eleven minutes, and Alexandros was actually ahead, but Vlahos emerged and dinged Alexandros upside the head with a steel chair while the ref was being distracted by Sam I Am. (OOC: This is surely to set up a Triptych-based Hardcore match for Winter War!) Unsure why Alexandros was on his hands and knees, occasionally grabbing his head, Teteriuk took advantage and hit The Weight Of Our Will for the 1-2-3, but afterwards he saw the culprit and was actually rather distressed at what just happened.
  • Goran Šimeunović © def. JP Myllyjärvi by pinfall to retain the EWA Hardcore Championship. JP did hold his own in this match but Goran was just too strong and too willing to do the most brutal things imaginable to lose! In fairness to the big Finn, though, he somehow managed to hit a pop-up variation of Frostbite and plant Goran face-first into an elevated stop sign between two chairs and almost get a 3 count! That was about as big as JP went though. After he recovered from this, Goran went full beast mode and must have splintered a good five tables from Goring JP through them or in one case hitting a Dalmatian Death Drop through it off the ring apron! The last one was good for the three-count.
  • MAIN EVENT: Dean Chapman © def. Sebastian Brown to retain the EWA Championship. (strict no-interference clause) Sebastian actually put up a pretty good match here, and Dean told him as much after it was over. He even had Dean in a Sharpshooter long enough (a solid four and a half minutes) to make most men, even at the higher levels, tap. But Dean's unparalleled endurance coupled with his "bag of tricks" won him the day. We saw him mount a flurry of offence around the 20-minute mark which led to his ultimate finisher, which in this match was an Arctic Outflow. After the match and a handshake to Brown, Dean saw Andros Pathakos walk out applauding, and saying, "You know what's next, Dean!" with a big smile on his face. The friendly rivals are pretty much a lock to face each other at Winter War to wrap the year up!
Post-PPV Injury report
  • As was made very clear, although they weren't booked in matches, the Team Lietuva Originals made their presence thoroughly felt as they literally won the match for their stable and their new Nordic allies!
  • Antonio Sabatti, Apollyon, and Kollector are on concussion protocol. Apollyon's, however, is reduced, and she will be reassessed on Wednesday or Thursday.
  • Žydrunas was a bit stiff with the Awesome Bomb, causing Sam I Am to hit the table a bit low on his body and actually hit his head against the barricade. He is also on concussion protocol.
  • Marko Gogić botched a moonsault as he landed on the rope on his heels and they slipped out from under him, causing him to fall backwards and hit the back of his head on the ring. He was able to complete the match but is on concussion protocol.
  • In spite of some of their matches' brutality, JP Myllyjärvi and Marat Gurzadian suffered no actual injuries.

SUMMING UP THE WEEK, 18-24 NOVEMBER 2024 (TIERS 2 AND 3 ONLY)

The road to Winter War in Minneapolis has begun!

Tier 2 Title Picture
  • There are certain wrestlers that sense a likely promotion and have decided to not join a championship race this cycle in spite of probably being deserving of doing so. Most notable amongst these is Tier 2's God Squad leader Japhet al-Nazr, who is already considered amongst Tier 2's all-time greats and has actually insisted that Gabriel take his place. Taiaho would also likely have been in a race were it not for Heavy Devy's announcement on Blitz that he would be staying in Tier 2 for another year so that he and J-Shred could go up as a team! Raitis Janvāris and Major Saidaliyev are sitting this cycle out as well. The one exception to this, to nobody's surprise (he has a reputation to maintain!) is Captain Redbeard.
  • It's still going to be one heck of a cycle for the Tier 2 EWA Championship! Besides the aforementioned Redbeard and Gabriel, you've got Hassan Saramankov, Jimmy Umaga, Nassim Toual, Brigadier Zerbo, Dārius Kārdijevs, Armand de Vlieger, Major Mitch (returning from his "exile"), and Radko Bekesza, with Gabriel, Umaga, Toual, and Zerbo in particular all pursuing their very first.
  • Old World Champ Robbie Irschick is also going to have his hands full with a group including seekers of first-time wins in the column, as Irschick himself got last cycle. He's got two of this year's three best men's rookies on his case in the form of Egidijus Stravinskas and Jonny Armaghanyan! But non-rookies seeking their first Old World strap as well, such as Adomas Kirvaitis, Afato Tulupu, and Big O. Balancing this out, we also have the all-time reign record holder for the OWC, one Saint Max, who is looking for #7, plus Ilias Pathakos, Stanyslav Kozak, Dom Adami, and Galin Liapchev.
  • Willie Giove's ninth Americas Championship reign is not going to be easy. He has some pretty ambitious rookies staring him down, such as Spurgeon MacEachern, Zamir Bokoyev, Captain Kisimba, and Vadim Covalciuc, plus he'll have to deal with Kalolo Maivia, Kennan Aroi, Tungsten, Cabal, Squad Leader Odom, and Sétanta.
  • Colby Shelley doesn't seem to think he has a cakewalk although many of the better Hardcore wrestlers are occupied elsewhere. But he has his eyes on Malaki Tulupu and Jefferson Wylie, both of whom are top-class in this regard. He is also refusing to rule out the likes of rookie Terje Grimseth, who has already proven himself to be a more than capable Hardcore wrestler. There are a few other former champs in the mix this cycle, such as Gustaf Nordlund, Colonel Kerathyriou, Raimondas Žutautas, and Manu, and some would-be first-timers such as Andriy Sarbenko, Serik Ibrashev (himself a very accomplished hardcore wrestler in Tier 3 like Grimseth), and Big A Wambo.
  • Sonya Craig isn't resting on her laurels even if she's a consensus promotion at this point. Nor is she slacking off because Egidijus Stravinskas or Nick Matthew aren't in the race. No no. Chongrak Mahidol, Supaida, Indy Singh, Yashar Efendiyev (since twin brother Elkhan is taking vacation time), AJ Sandoval, Crash KTM, Han Ming-Sze, Captain Comoros, Milo J, and Dario Krznar will provide her with plenty of challenge!
  • The Women's Championship took a very interesting turn right off the get-go. With Sexy Streamer now champ but looking like she's going to be promoted, she has openly declared that she wants to end her feud with Eva Clark and Carlota "once and for all" and as such has used her right to choose her opponent this time. At Winter War, it will be a triad match between The Sexy One and her two arch-rivals. So what do this month's other women's matches do? They will go towards the rankings for next year's Absolute Zero!
  • This cycle's Tag Team division is going to be a blast! Deathcore is going to be dealing with some pretty high-tier competition! The New Livonian Order, The Umagas, Double-A, The Dissidents, The Troublemakers (Chase and Giove), The Kipchak Connection, The Nauruan National Wrestling Team, Kimmoset, Road Hogs, and Air ADF are all contending!
  • Mortal Kombat plans to go out with a bang as at least Qian Qian-Min is getting promoted! And the teams are lining up to see who can face them. Las Divas are going full steam at it in spite of being opponents at Winter War, and why wouldn't they? They're already getting comparison to Chapman and Pathakos in Tier 1 in how they can be rivals one moment and the best possible teammates the next! Other teams entering include Polish Power, The Gerhardt Girls (that is, Rebekah and Mariah), The Magnussens, Proverbs 31, Aurora Australis, Tsunneko, Old School, Persian Princesses, and Sorellanza.
  • Lots of good contenders gunning for Easy Lovers as well! The Intergender Tag Team race has Headbangers' Ball back in the mix, looking for that rematch, but they'll have to fend off Jolly Roger, Beauty and the Beast, SpiderCat, Duet, The Steppe Squad, Greater Albania, North And South, Creepy Celts, and The Sarbenkos.
  • Kai Attinen is in the midst of quite a run as Men's TV Champ! After beating Major Mitch at First Blood he put three more easy wins on the card in kind of a decompression week. In one case, against Pietro Salvatore, he actually feigned a yawn, which got him in some trouble (see below) but trouble that he got out of rather easily. The toughest match he had was on Blitz against stablemate Erjon Xhaxhka, who actually gave him a pretty good fight. Salvatore and Anansi? Not so much! This week will be a bit harder as he's got DZG, Gamboa, and Crash KTM to deal with, but given that he just beat Major Mitch, I don't think he's at all worried!
  • Isobel had to fight harder to hang onto the Women's TV Title when going up against Sherri Magnussen, Delina, and Azumi Yoshida, but she came out of all of those matches on top! This week isn't going to be much easier, as she faces Angelika, Yuriko Motomori, and Astra.
Other Tier 2 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Captain Redbeard isn't done with The Swabbies just yet, not after ibn Fatih decked Constance with a backhanded slap after Buccaneer Briggs left the room feeling "betrayed and disappointed" upon finding out Constance was leaking confidential information to the Cap'n.
  • While they may both have backed off on Las Divas after being utterly humiliated by them at First Blood, The Trope Troupe and the Robanos are far from finished with each other, and this could be bad news for Tsunneko's Women's Tag Team push!
  • Alpine Academy expressed disappointment with the fans for booing them in light of "how big a couple of !@#holes those Tenkerian brothers are." But then Hayastan came out and put them in their place. "If you hadn't been so rude to me when I tried to smooth things over concerning those two, you wouldn't've been booed in the first place! What I will agree with you on, is that their sister was being a petty cow, but here's the thing - she had already been disciplined for it by her oldest brother! There's no sense being bitter over something that has already been dealt with!" With that being said, there is someone in Alpine Academy who is unwilling to let the matter go, the one whose being disrespected and later attacked started the whole mess - Angelika!
  • The Mourit Triplets expressed a desire on Blitz to participate in Winter War, but in a Trios Match. "There are a lot of good women's tag teams in Tier 2, but I challenge any trio of women to come at us!" - Salibah. She probably regrets saying that now because the Mourits are now staring down a confrontation with some very metal women! The Bad Girls - Delina and Saimi Attinen - and the Twisted Metal Waifu herself, Azumi Yoshida, have answered the call!
  • As mentioned above, the disrespect Kai Attinen showed Pietro Salvatore drew the ire of the remaining membership of Cosa Nostra, causing a backstage confrontation (no fisticuffs, but a promise that "there would be consequences") and later an attempt to cost him his match against Anansi on Throwdown. But that attempt backfired hard. Not only did Kai Attinen win that match, and not by DQ, but Skip ended up (kayfabe) injured as Deathcore and Deutschwerk came to Kai's aid, after Sven Halk dropped him down onto a folded steel chair with a Coppertop outside the ring!
  • Tommy Thorpe still has it in for Slava Ukrayini! And he plans to make sure that Andriy and Stan won't try to deliberately injure him again!
  • Fabrice Lacroix has started "hardcore training" with an unnamed Tier 1 EWA wrestler, with the intent to face Tungsten at Winter War!
Tier 2 Injury Update
  • The only injury that really carried over from First Blood was Shawn Agir's fractured cheekbone. He'll miss another week and should be back just into December.
  • Martina Robano didn't take as long to heal up as was first thought - she returned on Throwdown.
  • Stan Kozak is back, obviously. He made his official return on Blitz. So too did Terje Grimseth.
  • Skip is only kayfabe injured and plans to return closer to Winter War.
Tier 3 Title Picture
  • No Robert Mensik or Jamaal Andrews in the Tier 3 EWA Championship race this cycle... no, they are going to end their stint in Tier 3 with a match against each other at Winter War! But there's another soon-to-be-promoted Ghostbuster that Steve Jeffers will have to keep his eye on - Kristijan Bogišić! Screwed out of his match against Jeffers at First Blood by Paranormal! Those Ghostbusters that remain behind will surely give them hell for that! But Bogišić said that it would be unfair to see nobody earn a spot in this cycle "just because the creepy cosplay convention I used to belong to thought barring me in my locker room was a good idea," so he and Jeffers agreed to make it a multi-competitor elimination match, finally deciding on a Hexagon match! Ten competitors ranked, vying for four spots. As we're about to see, this won't be the only multi match amongst the Tier 3s! But who's ranked? For now, it's Big Xeno, Stacks, Lech Osmulski, Ioane Niko, Mr. Wilson, Lukas Gölz, JJ Bear, Michael Colding, Roger Vélez, and Rihard Pretner.
  • As for the Old World Championship, Sub-Lieutenant Sethunya is certainly earning his increased pay grade! The prospective opponents currently ranked are Tua, Kicham Alami, Gregor Dvořák, Dan Kassaye, Reid Jeffers, Naiden Bogdanovič, Jon Kabitana, Oleksander Matviyenko, Saini Fanalua, and Warren Thomson.
  • Sethunya's tag partner Sergeant Letsego will be busy as well! Even though it's his first reign, he's got a bunch of prospective first-timers chasing him, such as The Assassin, Rami, Chief Berziņš, Jordan Natapei, Bonez, Xiang Zhi-Han, and Metin Segem. But he also has the all-time winningest Tier 3 Americas Champ, Rory Dean, after him, and also Rocky Morrison and Nate Radkov.
  • Masato Tajiri thinks he would be a fool to think he has it easy in spite of many of his strongest competitors being involved elsewhere. Don't get me wrong - it is a thinner pool this cycle - but I'd hardly call having Patrick Taitano, Benik Temurjyan, and previous champ Morrissey in the list of the ranked easy! There are also some guys who have come close but not actually won the Hardcore Championship in the mix, like Jackson Marais, Ulughbek İslomov, and Cosmo Serrano. The other ranked guys aren't necessarily bad at Hardcore, either - Levar Mills, Jacoby, and one-time champs Khan and Jax.
  • Hosny bin Sabry is thinking big! He used his right to determine his opponent by challenging the three most likely cruiserweights to be promoted - Rolando Ferrer, Estevão Donato Rocha, and Captain Macie - to a Flying Four match at Winter War! We've already got Ferrer and Macie on board, but EDR hasn't said anything yet! If he does agree, then any ranked matches this cycle will go towards 2025's opening PPV, Combat of the Future. Otherwise, the last of the four men in the match will be determined by the rankings.
  • Apparently Katie O'Martin wants one last hurrah in the Women's Division before her foregone conclusion of a promotion to Tier 2, and she directly challenged Kim Jae-Hwa to a match, which she accepted instantly. A couple of women were asked about this in interviews on Slobberknocker, and the response was the same, "Katie's too good for anybody else - she'd just whoop our asses if we objected!" So as with the Cruiserweights, any rankings points from the women this cycle will be carried over to January 2025.
  • Asylum definitely live up to their name - with Tua contending for the EWA Championship and Taitano doing likewise for Hardcore, plus defending the Tag Team Championship, they are both surely insane! Especially when you see some of the potential contenders they have for this cycle - Air Morocco, Serbsational, Hell For A Basement, The Morrisons, Dan Bonez, Leeward Lions, and the IDL Connection. The other guys ranked are looking for one last hurrah before one or both of them gets relegated, though - think Zambabwe, The Knockaround Guys, and Springsteen & Maybury
  • Kim & Turkington are going to have some challenges going forward in the Women's Tag Team division! Even without Pure Fire, they still have the likes of the RCAF, Back Country Belles (yes, BOTH of those teams), Tammy & Keisha, CAS, Silver Ferns, Brisa & Martina Krstajić, K'n'K, The Killer Bees, Sigrid and Talia Lundmark, and Mann & McIver to deal with. So this cycle should be fun.
  • And then you've got Katie O'Martin and Bruce Stuart, Jr. and the Intergender Tag Team Championships! The ADF is really coming hard for them under the inspirated of a rejuvenated and tag team-obsessed Kasia Mann, and the Young Turks look like the next-biggest threat. Transatlantic, Cowan & McNally, SKN Forever, Two Kiwis Of A Feather, the EWA Chamber Orchestra, Tamara Stevens and Riley Morris, and M&M are also in the running, as is a brand new team comprising Jackie Sassou and Axel Nkumbula from Africa Forever.
  • It took a pretty high-card guy to take down Marcin Djokić! By which I mean Reid Jeffers, who beat him on Brouhaha, after Djokić had squashed Mavis and beaten Lech Osmulski with some difficulty!
  • Great week for Damhnait Cowan. She won all three Women's TV Title matches, with the biggest test coming on Up-And-Coming against Gretel. But next week is going to be a meatgrinder as the challengers are Sigrid, Linda Friesse, and Teresa Santoso!
Other Tier 3 Rivalries/Stable News
  • The ACA criticized Mesoamerica's inabilty to "get the job done" by completely sweeping Jamiekan Groove, as Denzel Bryant won his match, and Captain Macie said that he would "show them how it's done" by taking them down. But he has also warned Africa Forever, saying "we're not done with you yet, either."
  • Dark & Dangerous will wind down the year feuding with Yevraziya, as somewhat expected. It didn't help that Indrek Lepp slapped Steve Jeffers on Slobberknocker, causing a staredown between the two stables to get physical! The Jeffers Brothers made a statement on Up-And-Coming by beating The Bohemians (Gregor Dvořák and The Assassin) and Lech Osmulski, with their third man in being Jax.
  • And poor Sasja Mölder cannot escape the "jabroni" chants. The lanky Estonian lost two matches this week and had the chant going full strength in both!
  • The makings of the first cross-tier match for Winter War are in place after the Arab League vowed vengeance against Turkestan for their loss at First Blood. We heard conversations between Tiers 2 and 3 from both stables, with two very different responses - Lady Kez hardly looked thrilled, but Kicham Alami was in a state of utter gratitude as he could be heard saying, "Thank you so much, Dom - we're in your debt!"
  • Apparently, though, one of the conditions for help on high was booting Prince Jafar and Pharaoh from the stable. Given Royalty's toxic demeanour, it really shouldn't surprise anyone that this had to happen (plus they refused to participate in the Gang Warfare match). What resulted was a 5-on-2 beatdown as they refused to leave the locker room. Something tells me that when "help from above" arrives, it will include someone bringing a whoopin' for those two!
  • In the meantime, the Nordic Union, especially leader Michael Colding, has warned Turkestan to "keep its mitts off of" Hosny bin Sabry.
  • Apparently Asmat Makhashvili now has a huge crush on Major Saidaliyev (kayfabe) and has to phone him at least once during a show. We've heard this from both sides - the call from his side was on Throwdown!
Tier 3 Injury Update
  • Pretty obvious one, but Sigrid is back, having completely served out her suspension.
  • Jamaal Andrews was back on Slobberknocker.
  • Chun Kiman will return in two weeks.

Yeah, I know I'm a day early, but nothing happens on Sundays unless it's a PPV week! :P

SUMMING UP THE WEEK, 25 NOVEMBER-1 DECEMBER 2024

Tier 1 Title Picture
  • Well, we know the deal for the EWA Championship - Chapman vs. Pathakos, again. :P There are some surprising omissions from the crowd building up points for Free-For-All, though, most notably Žydrunas Janvāris, but there is a completely valid reason in his case! Read on! In any case, the folks getting a headstart on next cycle are the likes of Serhiy Kalitvinko, Željko Miljanović, Hakan Berat, Kaélos Pathakos, Giammarco Scibetta, Captain Kayibanda, and Admiral Alexi, but there are others who are going to wait for this cycle to be over before starting.
  • There's a pretty good group of contenders for Takhir Teteriuk's Old World Championship! The ranked folk are currently Simon Peter, Georgios Pathakos, Natane Huboka, Arvydas Maklėvičius, Marina, Gerry Granger, Alec McIntyre, Demitros Lavriakis, Jure Žabranič, and Marat Gurzadian.
  • If the opening week of the cycle is any indication, this is going to be an extremely close race to see who faces Paul Morgenstern at Winter War! An extremely butthurt Sam I Am has entered the race against objections from Mattias Vlahos, who wanted him to "aim higher." He wants that Americas Championship and he wants a piece of The Menacing Mennonite as well! But there are some very high-ranking guys in the race this cycle. Think the likes of Kaélos Pathakos, Tris Marks, Tristan Vlahos, Matt McIntyre, Rasheed Young, Kevyn Mirković, Vyacheslav Antropov, Seven, and Shavo Gurzadian!
  • Just when you thought the Triptych was going to hog the title shot all to themselves again at an all-tier PPV, Kris Senior put a kibosh on that idea, declaring that the match would be a Cursed Cube, meaning that a fourth opponent is now necessary. Although many of the best are in the mix this cycle - Sebastian Brown, Nikolaj Bogdanovič, Ryan O'Martin, Don George, Mark Wylie, Devin Elliss, and Dion Prince are all in the running - the guy most people are watching is someone who has never actually won the Hardcore Championship but too many have said probably could if he put any time into Hardcore, and is now actually doing so! A very vengeful Žydrunas Janvāris has entered the Hardcore race! He wants a piece of Mattias Vlahos! A couple other longshots - Gylych Turesbekov and Bohdán Váněk - have also entered the race.
  • Ricardo Benítez has stated he wants to "earn his way" to Winter War but believes himself to be the top contender (he is after all the winningest Cruiserweight Champ and is the highest-rated cruiserweight per the points system!) but to face Bassam al-Wadud at Winter War he'll have to beat the rest of the best - the likes of Arik Ginzburg, Kaz Takahashi, Special Agent Fleury, Randy Prince, Hany Tariq ar-Rahman, DK Extreme, Janne Myllyjärvi, Lorne Christopher, and Erkin Buzurbayev!
  • As for the Women's Championship race, given how important Winter War is (many argue that it is the second-most-important PPV after Festival of Excellence), the very best the Women's Division has to offer are already lining up to get their crack at Persephone, who was absolutely brilliant at Advent! But let's see who's ranked? Well, Yukiko Kawachi, Gabazon, Apollyon, Colonel Chisiza, Elisabeth, Jane George, Shakira, Rachel Gerhardt, Viktore, and Alice Fleury are lined up for the next month!
  • Andros Pathakos said he wanted to face "the best" at Winter War for the EWA Tag Team Championship to "have one more high-calibre tag team match before putting The Unstoppables on hiatus." But both 2Kold and the soon-to-be returning Two Titans have said they want to earn it, which is good news for everybody else. Joining them will be Blacademix, Team Lietuva Originals, The Pathakos Twins, Brothers In Arms, The Lords of Lancashire (with the blessing of the God Squad elders, two of which are Andros and Dean!), Paratroopers (Captain Kayibanda and Wing Commander Ángel), The Bog Boys, and The Double Eagle (Scarface and Haxhari).
  • There's going to be quite a good Women's Tag Team cycle as well. The Sentai are watching closely to see which of these teams they'll be facing: KoldChix, Pathachicks, Strong & Proud, Special Forces, SOS, The Krissies, The Sha-Shas, Team Lietuva Women, The Croatian Sisterhood, and Hooliganettes!
  • And what about the Intergender Tag Team race? Well, Danae and Marko are already expecting some God Squad competition and have no preference as to whether they face The Islanders (Krissie Machlas and her husband Yiannis Andreas Kazakis) or The Efendiyevs (Kristina Efendiyeva and Turan Efendiyev); With that being said, they have plenty of other potential opposition even if a couple of the bigger teams are sitting out. East Africa Corps, Elisabeth & Juha Ukkonen, The Covenant Couple, Sapporo Steel, Dragan Kovačević and MiMi, The van Eijkerens (with Sebastian and Angie again stepping up to the plate), The Bristol Sound, and Matt and Olwen McIntyre are currently ranked.
  • Tristan Vlahos got called out for half-assing his TV Title loss against Brock Samuel by none other than Dean Chapman. "For the love of all things holy and good, Tristan, if you want to go after higher gold, just be honest about it and vacate the title you've got! Everybody knows you're a better wrestler than what you just demonstrated out there!" Not that Brock lasted much longer, except he gave his all in the match and lost against Paolo Scibetta, who would go on to beat both Alexey Danilov on Roughhousin' and Kadreddin Nabiyev on Maniacal in solid matches!
  • Shakira, on the other hand, actually did put forth effort, losing it to Akiko Sakaki in something of a marathon on Uprising after having beaten Rosa Pathakos on Excelsior. Sakaki also got one defence in, besting Danute on Roughhousin', and then lost it to current champ Kristi Pathakos on Maniacal.
Other Tier 1 Rivalries/Stable News
  • It's painfully obvious that the feud between Hayastan and Working Class Hooligans is not over, as Marat Gurzadian joined the Old World Championship race to ensure Gerry Granger didn't win the gold! Shavo Gurzadian is going to have to deal with Tris Marks in the Americas race. And what about Youri Abdayev? It looks like the Azermenian is going to be beefing with Floyd Llanfair-Ross for now!
  • Even if Isidoro Álvarez has voluntarily submitted a relegation request (OOC: due to storyline considerations in Tier 2), what good would it be without one last feud? He and brother Ronaldo have gone after the Pathakos Twins, primarily Kaélos for supposedly not doing enough to curb Rosa's brashness and complete lack of respect towards their sister Nana. With the Twins both pursuing singles and tag-team gold, the likelihood of there being a men's tag or group match in the end is slim but quite possible. What is more likely is Kaélos and Rosa (as The Power Couple) end up against Isidoro and Nana in an intergender tag match.
    • The biggest problem with this? Kaélos actually has done enough. Rosa did something she hasn't done in a long time on Uprising and that's actually apologize for her brattiness. The segment where Kaélos said they needed to talk was apparently a rather stern scolding.
  • Well that alliance ended quickly! Mattias Vlahos was very angry on a phone call with Antonio Sabatti, calling him "a useless idiot," "a shell of the man [he was] even two years ago," and "barely worthy of Tier 1 anymore." Ouch.
  • We also have a feud between Yevraziya and ACA on our hands. Remember how Wacław Iwański and Alexey Danilov almost started a stable war by interfering with the Constanţius? (And the Samoan Studs for that matter?) Well, they decided to get involved in a match involving The Double Eagle (not the one against the Unstoppables as that would have been suicidal), and later that episode of Uprising, Général Bernard officially declared war on Yevraziya. Not only that, but stable leader Serhiy Kalitvinko is absolutely furious with both of the two!
  • Retiring Leila has named her last opponent as a wrestler - her sister-in-law, Midshipman Mirković! (Her husband Bohdán Váněk's sister, for those who didn't know :P )
  • It's official. Red Canada is coming to Tier 1! This was made official when a beatdown by the Deathly Order on Demitros Lavriakis was stopped not by the God Squad (whose anathema is still active against them) but by Red Power and a few assorted other Canadians! Here's the transcript:
Transcript

Tier 1 Injury Update
  • Grigor Zagorakis and Arik Ginzburg will both be back next week, probably both on Uprising with a slim chance Zago will be back on Excelsior.
  • Minas Tenkerian is on the pace he was in the last report
  • Apollyon will also be back this week, likely on Excelsior.
  • Antonio Sabatti has agreed to sit out this week as he was diagnosed with a Grade 0 concussion effective Sunday.
  • Kollector will be out another two weeks after being assessed.
  • Sam I Am should be back actually wrestling sometime this week as his reassessment turned up very little. Could even be back for Excelsior. He is listed as day-to-day. He was present to cut a promo on Uprising and he looked pretty lucid, so I doubt he will be out for very long.
  • Marko Gogić's head injury was less severe than the look of the impact suggested and he will be back on Uprising or possibly Excelsior. He wasn't actually directly involved in the brawl on this week's Excelsior or else he - or someone else - would have been fined.
Tier 2 Title Picture
  • This week was very interesting in the EWA Championship circuit as you had a proverbial clash of the heel titans on Throwdown, and the fans were merciless to both of them as Captain Redbeard pulled off a narrow victory over Major Mitch. And given Jimmy Umaga's solid week, the fans started chanting, "JIMMY'S GONNA KILL YOU!" and completely wound up the pirate lord. The big Samoan is currently #1 contender with Gabriel and Nassim Toual right behind him.
  • Saint Max is off to a roaring start in the Old World Championship race, beating Stanyslav Kozak clean on Blitz and then Afato Tulupu. The Holy Haitian-Canadian is reacquainting the EWA faithful with his singles prowess in higher title matches (just ftr, he is also a 2-time EWA Champ at the Tier 2 level!) and is already "studying the tape" to take on Adomas Kirvaitis this week! Kirvaitis is tied in the #2 spot with The Big Rock, Dom Adami, who pulled off a surprising win over Ilias Pathakos on Blitz before besting Adomas' stablemate Egidijus Stravinskas on Conquest
  • We're two weeks into the Americas Championship race and still no sign of a clear #1 contender. Heck, the points are a three-way tie, which is unusual for this deep in! Spurgeon MacEachern, Kalolo Maivia, and Tungsten are holding down top spot with Captain Kisimba and Sétanta right behind. Zamir Bokoyev dropped out to focus on Tag Team action as he and Serik Ibrashev are doing quite well, and he has been replaced by DZG, who jumped into the fray at the behest of Kai Attinen, whom he gave a scare to in TV Title action!
  • Malaki Tulupu has yet to lose a match in this Hardcore Championship cycle and has already beaten his closest rival, Jefferson Wylie. But our current #2 contender should be of some concern to him. Raimondas Žutautas is also on a roll, having won three (Tulupu has four under his belt)! Of course, Andriy Sarbenko could have been farther ahead except Tommy Thorpe is not letting him get any momentum at all, insisting on pursuing the vendetta he has against Slava Ukrayini - more on that below. The Ukrainian has lost all three of his matches thus far although one was a clean loss against Tulupu; one might as well have been clean because Raimondas Žutautas was winning and the only thing Thorpe did was prevent him from making a comeback run. The real stinker was the loss to Serik Ibrashev, whom he had an edge on until Thorpe decked him with a stop sign outside the ring!
  • In the meantime, we're seeing the beginnings of a two-horse race on the Cruiserweight front, with Chongrak Mahidol in the driver's seat and Dario Krznar right behind him, but a significant gap between those two and #3 AJ Sandoval. But it is still somewhat early and Sandoval still has something of a chance, as do the #4 and #5 contenders, Crash KTM and a resurging Milo J.
  • Who even is storing up points for the next Women's Championship race? Per Al Snow, "mostly the upper mid-card and mid-card proper." Since promotees-to-be Sexy Streamer, Anjali, Qian Qian-Min, and Sonya Craig are literally all defending titles this cycle (Women's, Women's Tag, and Cruiserweight), that's many of the women's main eventers already. Carlota and Eva Clark are going to be facing The Sexy One at Winter War, so they're out. Yuriko Motomori is focussing on Intergender Tag with Heavy Devy, after having refused promotion. Polish Power and The Magnussens are all in on Women's Tag Team action. So who does that leave? Isobel! Yes, the diminutive Moth Queen is the current #1 contender for next January's Absolute Zero! But the rankings on the whole are telling!
    1. Isobel
    2. Delina
    3. Elfie
    4. Constance
    5. Shii-Chan
    6. Astra
    7. Ana Buzurbayeva
    8. Warrant Officer Willis
    9. Hrachia Tenkerian
    10. Rhiannon
    • That's right. Rhiannon is ranked. The same Rhiannon who just came off waiving her immunity from relegation. The same Rhiannon who is being relegated at the end of December! And these points are non-transferrable from tier to tier! How? She beat Tamara Robano in one of the most embarrassing losses of the Mexican's career! But don't expect her run to last long. She is considered not just a long shot, but an absolute no-hoper even if she weren't getting relegated, because no sooner had she beaten Robano than she got utterly flattened by Delina! Warrant Officer Willis is less surprising because she is being relegated voluntarily. But she is still "down there" - sure, she beat Aaliyah, which is impressive but not "out of this world," but then she lost to Isobel!
  • Still way too close to call in the Men's Tag Team race, with a six-way tie for #1 as of week's end. Not even gonna bother trying to unpack this mess yet!
  • On the other hand, several teams in the Women's Tag Team rankings got force-fed slices of humble pie last week and we have it narrowed down to a three-horse race (at least for now) as a result - Las Divas, Polish Power, and The Gerhardt Girls. The Gerhardts were particularly impressive on Throwdown, actually making a win over the Magnussens - the 13-time Tier 2 Women's Tag Team champs - look quite easy!
  • And then you have the Intergender Tag Team Championship rankings race, which has proven to be rather unpredictable other than another match getting Thorpedoed :P Yes, I regret to inform you that Double-T was indeed at it again on Conquest, costing The Sarbenkos a match by baiting Andriy into going after him up the entry ramp with trash talk. The distraction to his wife Martyna allowed Ana Buzurbayeva to reverse the momentum, hit Big Steppy then a Sea-Gül Driver (although hers is pulling rather than sitout, lessening the impact) for the 1-2-3. It is somewhat like the Men's Tag division except the tie is only 4-way rather than 6-way.
  • And again, Kai Attinen sweeps the week! DZG gave him a scare on Blitz but he beat Gamboa and Crash KTM much more comfortably. The Turku Terror is still YOUR Tier 2 EWA Men's TV Champ!
  • Isobel may be building rankings points for the Women's Championship next month, but in the process she's also defending the Women's TV Title, and she won all three of her matches, including an epic clash on Conquest against Yuriko Motomori!
Other Tier 2 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Tommy Thorpe has been (kayfabe) fined for continually interfering in Stanyslav Kozak's and Andriy Sarbenko's matches. But the Canadian is entirely unrepentant for costing the two matches as he says they have brought it on themselves by making the beef personal by trying to legitimately hurt him earlier in the fall (and even late summer). He also argued that the Hardcore Championship matches shouldn't matter as they are no-disqualification unless a no interference clause is added.
  • Failing a title match, Captain Redbeard made it very clear on Blitz that he wants a piece of ibn Fatih, this time in a singles match. Buccaneer Briggs is now somewhat upset with the Barbary Buccaneer as well, as he felt the slap to his sister was "overdone." But he wasn't nearly as mad as The Scourge Of The Seven Seas, who interfered with a match of ibn Fatih's to make him Walk The Plank. Kennan Aroi looked rather puzzled at the development, but he just shrugged and walked away, shaking his head.
  • As we suspected might happen, the Robanos cost Tsunneko a match in the Women's Tag Team division on Conquest, basically helping the Gerhardt Girls by pulling Harumi Kitagawa off the ring apron. Although Mariah Gerhardt chased them away, the damage was already done and not only did Tsunneko lose, but Kitagawa was (kayfabe) injured. But on Throwdown, The Magical Girls and Sexy Streamer attacked the Mexican tag team right back in retaliation!
  • While Hrachia Tenkerian did win her way into the Women's rankings last week by beating Pavlina, she was promptly brought back down to earth in more ways than one by Angelika on Blitz this week, who prevented her from cheating against her Alpine Academy stablemate Elfie by shouting that the Armenian had a weapon (she had brass knucks), which got her disqualified, then when the bell rung she rushed into the ring and started brawling with her former tag team partner, finally taking advantage of a whiffed punch to set up and hit her Snowdrift finisher.
  • The Mourits and the "Bad Waifus" (Bad Girls plus Azumi Yoshida) have signed off on the match for Winter War! But they are also keeping it pretty classy between the two teams, with neither interfering or even cutting too harsh a promo against the other!
  • Cosa Nostra is not taking the events of last week lying down. Tirone, Chip, and Pietro Salvatore attacked Deutschwerk backstage on Blitz, knowing full well that if they attacked Deathcore they'd probably get their asses kicked even as a trio! But Kris Pathakos Jr.'s warning was clear. "Tread very lightly. Even if you don't get officially censured, the metalheads are not to be trifled with."
  • "Oh s@#$" was Tungsten's response to finding out who Fabrice Lacroix is being trained by on Blitz. When asked about this on Throwdown, he gave the cryptic response, "Lemme just say, I hope to God Fabio's a bad student, because he has a f@#$ing brilliant Hardcore wrestler as a teacher."
  • Andreas Koellendamm still hasn't decided who his final wrestling opponent is going to be, but there may be gold on the line as well, as the Liechtensteiner is actually on deck this week for a Men's TV Title shot!
Tier 2 Injury Update
  • Shawn Agir will be back on Conquest per his own word. He is going to be wearing a hard mask for a couple weeks. He even joked, "Maybe I should wear a partial one and paint it white. Then I'd be the Phantom of the Fitness Gym!"
  • Andriy Sarbenko claims he was "lucky" he didn't end up on concussion protocol, because Tommy Thorpe "really smacked [him] good" with that stop sign! He was assessed day-of and released.
  • A scary botch from a house show saw Toni Alves drop Robin Bircham on his head while trying to set up for an Avalanche. The match was stopped and declared a no contest. Thankfully there were no severe neck injuries, but the soon-to-be retiring Bircham did suffer a Grade 1 concussion and is on concussion protocol.
  • We also had a botch this week where a wrestler injured herself as a result. Not known for her aerial ability, Marissa Giove actually slipped off the second turnbuckle and landed on her butt during a match against Christina Schiaffino, injuring her tailbone and possibly breaking it. She will have X-rays done on Monday the 2nd and will be assessed then, but she is expected to be out for at least two weeks. OUCHIES. -_-
Tier 3 Title Picture
  • With one more week gone and three more to go until Winter War, we have Stacks as #1 contender by the slimmest of margins and still no clear four to shove into the Hexagon match against Kristijan Bogišić and Tier 3 EWA Champ Steve Jeffers.
  • Tua, Kicham Alami, and Warren Thomson are starting to pull away from the rest of the Old World contender pack.
  • Rory Dean is certainly showing why he's won so many Tier 3 Americas Championships! He has won all three of his matches thus far. So too has Chief Berziņš, though, and the Latvian has made himself an immediate threat with an upset win over Rocky Morrison on Slobberknocker!
  • Jax has had to drop out of the Hardcore race due to injury (see more below) and there hasn't been anyone to step up to take the Grenadian's place. Not that it matters too much with the roll Benik Temurjyan's found himself on, as he followed up a solid opening week with a huge victory over Patrick Taitano! He is the current #1 contender, with Morrissey and Levar Mills not too far behind. Since most of the lower ranking Hardcore-ranked wrestlers are being relegated, Taitano shouldn't have too much problem at least getting back into the top three, but you have to think Temurjyan is going to be #1 contender unless Morrissey beats him.
  • We have a match, and a signing! Estevão Donato Rocha accepted the challenge from Hosny bin Sabry, so it is indeed going to be the Kurd and the Portuguese facing Rolando Ferrer and Captain Macie for the Cruiserweight Championship in a Flying Four! So now it's up to other cruiserweights to accumulate points to go after whoever wins that come late January! Here's who's ranked:
    1. Yordan Velichkov
    2. Wellington Gounod
    3. Rey Benítez
    4. Zaher Shaaban
    5. Bruce Stuart, Jr.
    6. Indrek Lepp
    7. Hot Rod
    8. Felipe Goicochea
    9. Yap Kim-Hock
    10. Daisuke Nishikawa
    • It's early enough that if Chun Kiman decides to rejoin after coming back from injury, he could very easily knock Yap or Nishikawa out of the running. It's worth noting that Zaher Shaaban is doing really well and might be able to make a longer-term bid for the title shot! He actually faces Benítez this week!
  • There's a similar situation amongst the women for the Women's Championship, with Kim and O'Martin set to square off and already cutting promos on each other! Here are the top ten ranked women's wrestlers that will have their points carried over to next month:
    1. Miss Natasha
    2. Lady Kez
    3. Tamara Stevens
    4. Gretel
    5. Linda Friesse (given a handicap because of her TV Title match loss)
    6. Amy McIver (on IR)
    7. Damhnait Cowan (given a buff because of her having held the TV Title for so long)
    8. Paula al-Nazr
    9. Martina Krstajić
    10. Dyana Pathakos
  • Air Morocco and Dan Bonez are off to a smashing start, with both teams already having beaten The Morrisons and the former also having topped off Serbsational! They are the top two contenders for the Tag Team Championship!
  • It is much closer amongst the Women's Tag Team Division! There is a five-way tie for #1 contender!
  • The Asian Drub Foundation are still tied with the Young Turks. The bad news for both is that Two Kiwis Of A Feather, the EWA Chamber Orchestra, and Transatlantic all stepped up hard. So while the two teams are the joint #1 contenders they aren't by much!
  • It seems the upper card suddenly took an interest in the Men's TV Title! And it doesn't get much higher than the guy who won the belt off Reid Jeffers on Slobberknocker - none other than Robert Mensik! And Big Bobby had very little competition the rest of the week, squashing both Mikayel Temurjyan and Aaron Lunga! Next week? Jordan Natapei, Deng Natali, and Metin Segem. We'll see how that goes!
  • Damhnait Cowan finally dropped her Women's TV Title to Teresa Santoso this past week on Brouhaha, losing to Teresa Santoso. The Portuguese will have a somewhat rough go of it this week as the challengers are Beáta, Deirdre, and Dyana Pathakos, but all those are winnable for her.
Other Tier 3 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Paranormal apparently had to be threatened with mass relegation to keep them from violating their suspension! Ángel Lorenzo Batista was furious when he heard they might be in the show - there is no way around describing it thus!
  • Jamiekan Groove made the foolish decision to go after the ACA after the latter said they would take them out... all five of them ended up getting pretty badly beaten on Slobberknocker!
  • Tier 3 Turkestan is in a world of trouble now! With no support from the upper tiers, they are basically sitting ducks after the Arab League from Tier 2 promised publicly to "provide reinforcements" in the rematch between the two stables, with The Big Rock himself making an in-person appearance on Brouhaha! (Tier 2 and Tier 3 have locations very close to each other, both being in Saskatchewan at this point!) With Dom Adami and Nassim Toual in the thick of title races, it might not be them, but even someone like Ali Ishaq Abdul-Jabir would be a boost!
  • Speaking of the Palestinian Punisher, he and tag team partner El Palestino made an appearance in Medicine Hat, Alberta for Up-And-Coming to "beat some humility" into Royalty!
  • What is it with heel stables and being contrarian? Apparently Suriyeli either missed the memo or didn't care that the Nordic Union said it was protecting Hosny bin Sabry (he is a member after all)! Turkestan has enough issues with the threat of Tier 2 Arabs coming down on it, but now they have to worry about a pissed-off Michael Colding as well... and this guy is hardcore enough that you generally don't want to piss him off!
Tier 3 Injury Update
  • Chun Kiman will be back next week.
  • Pretty big injury news from the Women's Division - Amy McIver telegraphed the sell of a German Suplex during a match against Tamara Stevens and landed awkwardly, injuring her central back and oblique muscles. It is likely she will require surgery, so she is at the very least done for the year.  Depending on the scope of the surgery she could be out for up to three months with biobed therapy. Good on Stevens for not making it worse and just going for the pin! Word out of the locker room is that Ángel Lorenzo Batista was actually quite pleased with her about how well she handled the whole situation.

PROMOTIONS AND RELEGATIONS ANNOUNCED!

This is it. The most complicated series of promotions and relegations ever was dropped today, November 30th. And there were a few surprises due either to voluntary relegation or refusal of promotion. Let's look at the promotions first, since this was much simpler! Tier rookies are in green.

Tier 2 -> Tier 1

Heavyweight Men

Japhet al-Nazr - Completely expected. Jacked Japhet is leaving Tier 2's God Squad leadership role to relative veteran Saint Max and joining the Tier 1 Squadders! This will be his fourth stint in Tier 1.
Raitis Janvāris - Ol' Stone Cold was right! Raitis had a fantastic year.
Captain Redbeard - Even if he's going without any of his old stable, the Cap'n is keeping his gimmick and plans on terrorizing Tier 1 next year!
Major Saidaliyev - edged out J-Shred for the overall nod. Probably the one the pundits scratched their heads at the most. He's still good enough for the top flight though.
Taiaho - returning to Tier 1 after several years because of Heavy Devy not wanting to split up Deathcore.

Cruiserweight Man

Nick Matthew - Best cruiserweight that didn't get promoted mid-season (like Général Bernard) or pre-emptively refused promotion when he debuted in the tier (like Egidijus Stravinskas). A super-close second was Chongrak Mahidol. By the way...
Chongrak Mahidol - Maybe not as good in the air as Matthew but far more versatile, a great technical wrestler, and good with Hardcore!

Women

Sonya Craig - Come on, do I really have to explain this one?
Qian Qian-Min - see Sonya Craig.
Sexy Streamer - It's time. She's been in Tier 2 for three years now. She's earned it. No woman in Tiers 2 or 3 is even remotely as good on the mic as she is, and on top of that, very few men are at that!
Anjali - got this because Yuriko Motomori wanted to keep Headbangers' Ball together and refused promotion. And it's a win-win because she and QQM can keep Mortal Kombat together this way!

Tier 3 -> Tier 2

Heavyweight Men

Braydon McMahon - Had a career year this year. Actually not his first year in Tier 2 since he spent 2020 there as a relative jabroni and went right back down.
Robert Mensik - Absolute unit. Like McMahon, he already has one year of Tier 2 experience, but his was in 2021.
Jamaal Andrews - if he can keep his 'tude in check, he'll do alright.
Kristijan Bogišić - may finish the year as the winningest Tier 3 Champion ever, and has incredible versatility in what he can do in terms of matches.
Lieutenant (Viktors) Rozentals - what sealed him was his performance in his month in Tier 2. He will probably join the New Livonian Order rather than the ACA. It also helped that Tua refused promotion to keep Asylum together.

Cruiserweight Men

Estevão Donato Rocha - he had a fantastic year, reinvigorated by his wife joining him for the year in Tier 3. He is the most experienced in Tier 2 of this year's promotees, having nine years' total experience at the second level, and having three Men's TV Titles and two Intergender Tag Team Titles with Teresa Santoso, the most recent of which was in 2022.
Rolando Ferrer - an Old World Championship was the jewel in the crown that was this year. Fully deserving of the promotion.
Captain Macie - finally leaving Tier 3 after having been there since its inception in 2016, "Africa's Favourite Luchador" is tied second all-time with Nick Matthew with four Tier 3 Cruiserweight Championships and may leave with one more to his name yet! Not a rookie as he debuted in the EWA in 2011 in Tier 2 and spent his earliest five years as a jobber there before becoming a Tier 3 original.

Women

Katie O'Martin - made EWA history by being the first wrestler, man or woman, to return to active wrestling after having retired. She is also the first EWA wrestler with any gold that wasn't a TV Title from Tier 1 to ever wrestle in Tier 3, and the gap in talent was clearly obvious even if she'd been away for over a decade! Next year, she will have another first to add to that list - first-ever EWA wrestler who wrestled for the first time in Tier 2 after both Tier 1 and Tier 3!
Kim Jae-Hwa - her rivalries with Sonya Craig and Katie O'Martin have been among the apex women's wrestling in Tier 3, and now she's taking her first step up. Is definitely joining the God Squad in Tier 2!
Crystal Woman - Even if she doesn't have quite as many belts as perhaps she should have had, her talent is good enough to see her promoted.

And now the relegations, of which because of the reorganization of tiers, was a lot more! No individual commentaries this time, just lists and general notes. Voluntary relegations are in purple.

Tier 1 -> Tier 2

Heavyweight Men

Asim Prodanović, Ari K, Nikica Antolašić, Kelly Vance, Kaspars Janvāris, Jindřich Němeček, Ram Sangra, Justinian MacGregor, JJ Matsson, Ari Beye, Jere Autissa, Giustino Travolta, Stassi Pathakos, John Crane, L-Wolf, Raymond Xia, Pavol Zeman, Floyd Llanfair-Ross, Dok, DJ Jojo, Ciro Pocena, Gylych Turesbekov, and Isidoro Álvarez.

General notes: Turesbekov dropped to become a mentor to Zamir Bokoyev; he has a pretty solid Tier 2 resumé from several stints there since 2011, including two Tier 2 EWA Championships. Was last there in 2021 and was promoted. This is Álvarez's first relegation; with two Americas Championships, seven Men's TV Titles, and a Tag Team Championship, he is the second most-decorated Tier 1 wrestler to ever be relegated, and would have been first if not for Pavol Zeman. He went voluntarily because Kris Junior was looking for someone to lead a Mediterranean-themed stable in Tier 2. The voluntaries spared Cam Roško and Ahmad al-Quwari per the Board.

Cruiserweight Men

Kieran MacArtair, Zinho, Jack Smith, Marko Zarragoitía, and Slobo Gogić.

General notes: Slobo Gogić's voluntary relegation spared Sergeant Stan (Stanislao Valenzuela); Gogić joined tag team partner Stassi Pathakos.

Women (note: Leila Váňková is retiring)

Nana Álvarez, Sheena, Nadya E, Maria Maravillosa, Pamela Kimmonen, Siobhann Carlyle, Paulina Kobaladze, Naomi Gerhardt, Lieutenant Lena, Midshipman Mirković, and Vera Ukkonen

General notes: Vera Ukkonen joined tag team partner Pamela Kimmonen. Her voluntary spared Hiroko Takahashi per the Board.

Tier 1 -> Tier 3 - There was only one of these as Bruce Stuart went through with the voluntary double-drop he'd been mulling even if he weren't in the red already. He will wrestle as Bruce Stuart, Sr. from now on.

Tier 2 -> Tier 3

Heavyweight Men (note: Andreas Koellendamm is retiring)

Robin Bircham, Corporal Kern, Nazaret and Geghetsik Tenkerian, Eggman, Viktor von Hesse, Tirone, Sergeant Nduwimana, Kwame G, Toni Alves, Théo Beaujean, Fyodor Grishkin, Apostol Jovanovski, Marco Robano, Kwasi Asamoah, ibn Fatih, Brendan Ross, Sven Halk, Jeff Kokapik, Jakob Strand, Spider-Mata, Fabrice Lacroix, Captain Bakar, Big A Wambo, Riley O'Bannon, Master Corporal Maurice, Sergeant Pascal, Peteli Vaifali, Fa'afetai Talalelei, Ali Ishaq Abdul-Jabir, Omo Tepoea, Gamboa, Karim Alam, Colonel Aristide, and Sergeant Major Mboya.

General notes: Brendan Ross waived his immunity to relegation, however Martin and Trefor Llanfair, and Kjetil Magnussen, did not. Colonel Aristide wanted to try doing the People's Army in Tier 3 and Sergeant Major Mboya dropped voluntarily as well; the biggest spares were Raimondas Žutautas (Karim Alam and Gamboa's drops became optional because of the two drops above them but they opted to drop anyway) and Corbo. Nassim Toual was spared by Bruce Stuart's extra tier drop.

Cruiserweight Men

Dolfo, Skip, Halcone, PJ Sandsberg, Valenciano, Alberto Pineda, Chip, Sansone, DJ Carlito, G-Monty, Buccaneer Briggs, and Lothar Schmidt

General notes: While G-Monty and Buccaneer Briggs gave pre-emptive notice after finding out the heavyweight and women's relegation contingents, they were in range anyway and are not marked as voluntary. Lothar Schmidt, on the other hand, decided to go down when he found out tag partner Sven Halk was dropping, saving Zafir al-Qawad, who would supposedly have been relegated otherwise.

Women

Mina K, Moto K, Martina Robano, Iryna Vanchyshyna, Anatoliya Kiryginskaya (will actually miss the entire 2025 season and the first part of 2026 for PregMat leave, which protects her from being relegated in 2025 and may also do for 2026), Xenia, Karla Goncharenka, 3M, Pavlina, Martyna Sarbenkova, Lieutenant Ludmilla, Rhiannon, Safa, Sahba, Salibah, Oksana Khvostova, Gwak Mi-Hyun, Christina Schiaffino, Shannon Kim, and Warrant Officer Willis

General notes: Shannon Kim was the same as G-Monty and Briggs above; Rhiannon had declared intent to waive her immunity a couple months ago but worked it into a story angle; Rhiannon's waiving and Willis' voluntary spared Kaori Niihara and Angelika.

Tier 3 -> Tier 4 (note: none of these will count as rookies next season!)
Wrestlers relegated because of this season's rookie quotas are in red.

Heavyweight Men

Patrick Déhu, Denzel Bryant, Jackson Marais, Kang Chong-Seo, Ion Dinu Radulescu, Jacoby, Adam Springsteen, Ulughbek İslomov, Lang Hu Mai, The Pharaoh, Tycho Dalum, Waisale Semiti, Aaron Lunga, Cosmo Serrano, Tech Sergeant Taha, Warren Maybury, Demis, Yevgeny Vinogradov, The Rain Man, Kim Seong-Kim, Mikayel Temurjyan, Prince Jafar, Iraklis Pathakos, Jurg Stratemaker, Stelios Kousouris, Christian Eggert, Le Monstre du Lac, Riley Morris, Corporal Gaston, Shōichi Okada, Corporal Chris, Agamemnon Pathakos, Staff Sergeant Santiago, Able Crewman Adroa, Butrus al-Nazr, Tijs van Eijkeren, Tulugaq, Valen Prince, Bam Sindiswa, Bludjun, Dániel Hédervári, Delino Mason, Orane Gainsborough, Travis Shayes, Mark Tenkerian, Myrat Süleýmanow, Pierre-Marc Akinnouye, Sasja Mölder, Xia Junhui, Samkeliso, Private Beye, Malkhaz Andriashvili, Zakarya Selmi, Private Jiggy, Malloum, and Nixon Tiago

General notes: Gurwinder Kang was spared for being the third-best heavyweight rookie (after the Laaksonen Twins). Jax, Khan, and Warren Thomson had immunity, but Lang Hu Mai waived his. There were five pre-emptive relegation requests: Patrick Déhu (on account of Waisale Semiti), Denzel Bryant (on account of Jamiekan Groove), Kang Chong-Seo (on account of Kim Seong-Kim), Adam Springsteen (on account of Warren Maybury), and Ion Dino Radulescu (on account of NextGen and especially his niece Silvia) while Jackson Marais and Jacoby opted for theirs at the last minute. The wrestlers spared by this were Metin Segem, Scott McNally, Sergeant Letsego, and Benik Temurjyan.

Cruiserweight Men

Turbo Tino, Corporal Bowler, Pala Dolkar, Barati Shah, JLD, Marco Legaspi, Karim Niang, Luigi de Vlieger, Jason Stoker, Mark Steele, Zviad Kavkasidze, Aniruddha Khan, Reinaldo Batista, Umar Hassan, Eldon Howell, Pablo Parra, Suriyeli, Bama King, Masud Rayyani, and Shaquille

General notes: Pala Dolkar waived his relegation immunity on account of Barati Shah, sparing Daisuke Nishikawa.

Women

Sanyu, Gudi, Tomiko Kato, Loretta Ghedina, Ariadne Pathakos, Asmat Makhashvili, Barbara Hentgen, Baxee, Reiko Shinohara, Carmella, Naheed, Private Mira, Darci, Janey Campbell, Jasmine, Silvia Radulescu, Jessica Kotta, Michiko, Stefani Kim, Lulu, Maryama Selmi, Laura Vega, Letícia, Lucia Batista, Marilag, Breeann Maartens, Cheryl Stoker, Natalia Paz, Tumelo, Goldie, Mint, and Suzy Rodriguez

General notes: Sanyu opted to drop on account of Tumelo and Africa Forever's state in Tier 4, sparing Master Corporal Malengeni.

SUMMING UP THE WEEK, 2-8 DECEMBER 2024

Tier 1 Title Picture
  • No further reports on the EWA Championship rankings will be recorded until just before Winter War.
  • Interesting week in the Old World race. Demitros Lavriakis dropped out of the race to join Red Canada's crusade against The Deathly Order, and has been replaced by Sebastian van Eijkeren. But given how badly Georgios Pathakos beat him on Maniacal, it's unlikely the big Dutchman will go very far. Speaking of Georgios, he is in a three-way tie for #1 contender with Simon Peter and Gerry Granger, and faces the latter this coming week!
  • Something of a major upset this week in the Americas Championship race, but hey, that's what Tristan Vlahos does best, amirite? He managed to get one over on sometimes friend, sometimes enemy, always rival Kaélos Pathakos on Uprising! This puts him in a very good position, being tied with Tris Marks for #1 contender, but it is still close.
  • If I were Mattias Vlahos, I'd actually be a little worried right now! Žydrunas Janvāris has been on fire in Hardcore Championship ranking action, having won his three first matches of the cycle, including a very noteworthy one over 7-time champ Sebastian Brown this week on Roughhousin'! He is the co-#1 contender alongside Nik Bogdanovič, plus Dion Prince isn't far behind, either!
  • After beating DK Extreme and Erkin Buzurbayev this week, Ricardo Benítez is near the top of the Cruiserweight Championship pack with four wins in the cycle, and is ready to "hit someone big." If I were Kaz Takahashi or Arik Ginzburg, I'd be thinking, "UH-OH." But Takahashi has a good cycle going in his own right, also with four victories, including one each over Special Agent Fleury and Janne Myllyjärvi. So we got ourselves a tie. For now.
  • After winning two last week (one on Excelsior and one on Maniacal), Gabazon really put the Women's Championship division on notice with an authoritative victory over Yukiko Kawachi, a win which put her in top spot. Colonel Chisiza is right behind her, and in a respectable third, we see Jane George.
  • Well, The Double Eagle were sure flying on Excelsior, but not in the way they wanted to! The Unstoppables gave them a crack at the belts and they took flight courtesy of an Andros Pathakos Slam Dunk and a Dean Chapman Cold Snap! But 2Kold also put the division on notice with a big win over the Team Lietuva Originals on Uprising. (This was mostly on Arvydas as he knew he'd have to carry the match more because of Druno's Hardcore exploits, but he just did not have the gas in the tank to do so!) As such, Big Bazz and JP are the #1 contenders! Blacademix are doing decently as well, sitting tied second with The Two Titans.
  • KoldChix, The Krissies, and The Sha-Shas are in a three-way tie for #1 contender for now. Also, SOS was basically forced to drop out because of the stable war between the Deathly Order and Red Canada going hot. Strong & Proud didn't just beat them, they beat the ever-living crap out of them, with Danae Pathakos on hand to go after Apollyon when she showed up! It's too bad S&P only got one match in this week, so they lag a little bit behind the #1 logjam.
  • Far from being hurt from her part in that encounter, Danae was fired right up and even ready to defend her title on Uprising, so she and Marko Gogić let The van Eijkerens have a go... it ended about as you would have expected it too. Pathakos-Gogić won. :P In the meantime, it is the two God Squad teams plus East Africa Corps that lead the way (tied), with The Bristol Sound and Elisabeth & Juha Ukkonen right behind!
  • And there you have it! Tris Marks won Men's TV Title #30 on Excelsior! And then immediately vacated it. :P Cam Roško won it next, beating Seven on Uprising, successfully defended on Roughhousin' against the ACA's Sergeant Major Vasquez, but then being beaten at his own submission game by Nick Trentham on Maniacal!
  • Amongst the women, though? Their TV Title was a revolving door this week. Literally nobody defended successfully. Kristi Pathakos lost to Alice Fleury, who lost to Rosa Pathakos, who lost to Queen Helen, who lost to Tech Sergeant Rhoda, who finally got it away from the First Family. :P (By the way, did we mention that the FF is no longer being counted as a stable?)
Other Tier 1 Rivalries/Stable News
  • In a true OMG moment, Danae went soaring off the stage on Excelsior with her arms around Apollyon's neck with a Drive-By, straight into a table! This impressed Joey! "OH MY GOD!! I never knew she had that in her! Sweet, innocent little Danae Pathakos just got big hangtime with that Drive-By! I bet you're one proud papa, Kris Senior!" Kris responded, "You better believe it, Joey!"
  • To say it was a rough week for Hayastan would be a colossal understatement. Marat Gurzadian lost to Gerry Granger, Shavo Gurzadian lost to Tris Marks, Youri Abdayev got put through a table face-first with Floyd Llanfair-Ross' Swan Song, and even Nadya E wasn't immune to the wrath of the Hooligans as she got locked in the Nightmare submission hold by Scary Sally!
  • Isidoro Álvarez had a non-ranked match against Kaélos Pathakos this week and completely blew it, as the Billion-Dollar Badass hit him with multiple Kika Cutters before pinning him, after having basically spent the whole match outrunning him and nailing him with impact moves, and even a Gorilla Press powerslam! We always knew Kika was strong for his size! But the worst was yet to come. After the match, Isidoro tried to blindside his vanquisher from behind, but Andros Pathakos showed up, yelled "Duck!" and damn near took Isidoro's head off with a Big Boot after Kaélos ducked (almost did a forward slip-and-slide, in fact)! It seems the Twins have some family backup! Not that it matters that much since Georgios cares more about the EWA Old World Championship right now, and hit a textbook suicide Spear on Ronaldo Álvarez when the younger of the brothers tried to interfere in his match against Alec McIntyre on Uprising! There was no DQ because Georgios was the only one initiating contact, and The Greek Gentleman landed a couple of punches and a stomp on his Spanish rival before sliding back in to continue the match against McIntyre and win!
  • Although he sat out this week from wrestling, Antonio Sabatti had a nasty surprise for Mattias Vlahos as a package left in the Deathly Order's locker room contained an acrid and rather foul-smelling smoke bomb!
  • Surprisingly, the outnumbered Yevraziya held their own enough in a backstage fight against the ACA that they were able to get away, although Serhiy Kalitvinko gave Alexey Danilov a good bollocking for complaining about it. "This is your fault, you absolute !@#$ing idiotic tool! If you had just kept your nose out of ACA's affairs, we wouldn't be in this mess!"
Tier 1 Injury Update
  • Apollyon and Marko Gogić returned on Excelsior.
  • Grigor Zagorakis, Arik Ginzburg, and Sam I Am all returned on Uprising.
  • Antonio Sabatti will return on Excelsior this week.
  • Kollector should be back next week, and in fact there's even a slim chance he could even return on Maniacal this week as he plans to be assessed on Friday.
  • Minas Tenkerian has started light exercise on schedule.
  • Isidoro Álvarez is done for the two-week remainder of the 2024 season as he is on concussion protocol and has foregone the reassessment after being KOed by Andros Pathakos on Excelsior. He should be back on the first Excelsior of 2025.
Tier 2 Title Picture
  • Jimmy Umaga beat Captain Redbeard on Blitz but lost to Gabriel on Throwdown, so he has lost his #1 contender's slot to the big archangel! Gabriel had beaten Nassim Toual earlier in the week as well, so the gap is actually pretty significant!
  • It seems nobody can stop Saint Max! He beat Adomas Kirvaitis on Blitz and Ilias Pathakos on Throwdown and is now well ahead as #1 contender, with the #2 being a tie between Dom Adami and Kirvaitis (who pulled himself back up by beating Big O on Throwdown).
  • A bit of a breakthrough in the rather confusing Americas Championship situation - Spurgeon MacEachern finally broke the deadlock up top after Throwdown, where he beat Kalolo Maivia. He had beaten Sétanta on Blitz, and with Tungsten's loss to Maivia on Conquest, that bumped him off the top.
  • Andriy Sarbenko finally notched a win on Throwdown but it seems to be too little too late, especially with Malaki Tulupu continuing to win. Losing to Raimondas Žutautas on Blitz didn't help, either. Tulupu is still unbeaten in six Hardcore matches this cycle and is looking like he'll end up facing Žutautas for #1 contendership at some point.
  • You wouldn't think a win would mess the standings up that much, but Milo J beating Dario Krznar on Conquest only served to increase the gap between the #2 contender - now him - and statistical #1 contender Chongrak Mahidol. The Laotian and the Slovak will meet this week, though, so that gap could close right back up again should the latter win!
  • No further reports on Women's Championship rankings until after Winter War
  • The six-way tie has been reduced to four-way in the Tag Team Championship race after a couple of key matches this week - The NLO beat The Troublemakers and The Umagas beat The NNWT. Double-A and the Kipchaks are still tied with them, having won a match each this week as well.
  • One particularly important victory this week saw Polish Power edge Las Divas on Throwdown. This puts them clear into #1 position, at least for now, as The Gerhardt Girls didn't have any matches this week. Aurora Australis are starting a push to mount a challenge as well, as they beat The Magnussens on Blitz.
  • The Intergender Tag Team race is narrowing as well, with Greater Albania holding the narrowest of leads over Beauty And The Beast and North and South after this week - two of these teams beat Jolly Roger, and if they don't win either of their matches this coming week they will be statistically eliminated from contention.
  • Kai Attinen finally lost the Men's TV Title this week, losing to Shawn Agir in a hard-fought match on Throwdown - this comes after he beat M-Diesel and Farshaan. This week's challengers are Kwame G, Aurėlijus Maklėvičius, and Andreas Koellendamm.
  • Isobel is still Women's TV Champ! Anjali, Raisa Nakisa, and Milenka all lost to the Moth Queen this week!
Other Tier 2 Rivalries/Stable News
  • After some consideration, Andreas Koellendamm has chosen his final opponent for Winter War: Lothar Schmidt. He initially wanted Fabrice Lacroix but Lacroix already has a storyline going.
  • Jolly Roger as a stable has been officially taken off the EWA website at the request of Captain Redbeard; Buccaneer Briggs took offence to this and tried to attack the Cap'n but was hit below the belt by Constance!
    • Later that week, ibn Fatih got some surprising help when Redbeard came after him, from The Barbary Boyz! Yes, The Big Rock and "Big Nasty" Nassim Toual assaulted the Scourge of the Seven Seas with kendo sticks when he tried to again make the Libyan Walk The Plank!
    • It does seem, though, that there is still friction between the former Swabbies. ibn Fatih refuses to apologize for slapping Briggs' sister Constance as hard as he did (he drew blood).
  • Harumi Kitagawa baited the Robanos into an ambush on Throwdown as she came back on crutches, but it quickly became apparent that the whole thing was a trap as the other Troupers emerged and Kitagawa herself started whacking her past assailants over the head with one of her crutches, having let her partner Kaori Niihara have the other one!
  • Hrachia Tenkerian has challenged Angelika to a match at Winter War, which the Austrian very promptly accepted!
  • Kris Junior's warning to Cosa Nostra may have been too late. On Blitz, the entire Cosa Nostra stable was attacked by Heavy Metal. It was an absolute mess in that part of the locker room - tables broken, a broken window (OOC: candy glass, fortunately :P ), several chairs dented and/or bent out of shape, and the entire six-person contingent of Cosa Nostra lying around moaning in pain! Kris Junior passed by, rolled his eyes, and simply said, "Fools." He was looking at the security camera footage later and found out that it was Heavy Devy who literally threw Pietro Salvatore through the window!
  • We finally know who Fabrice Lacroix's trainer is. It is none other than EWA Hardcore Champion Goran Šimeunović! No wonder Tungsten was spooked by the revelation last week!
Tier 2 Injury Update
  • Shawn Agir, true to his word, was back on Conquest, then proceeded to win the Men's TV Title just one show later!
  • Robin Bircham was reassessed and will remain on the IR for another week with biobed therapy.
  • Marissa Giove does indeed have a broken tailbone (quite severely thus, I might add), so her 2024 is basically done. She will be back in mid-January 2025.
Tier 3 Title Picture
  • At the very least, it looks as if Stacks is going to Winter War. He increased his lead in the Tier 3 EWA Championship ranking race this past week with two wins, over Rihard Pretner and Mr. Wilson. Lech Osmulski, Ioane Niko, Big Xeno, and Michael Colding are the most likely to join him at this point, although two others, JJ Bear and the aforementioned Pretner, are still in range.
  • Tua is now the #1 contender statistically for the Tier 3 Old World Championship after he beat Kicham Alami on Up-And-Coming and Dan Kassaye beat Warren Thomson on Slobberknocker.
  • Rory Dean has gone clear in the Americas Championship race already, having bested Chief Berziņš on Slobberknocker and then Rocky Morrison in Brouhaha's main event.
  • Patrick Taitano is back in the hunt for the Hardcore Championship again after getting a win back on Benik Temurjyan, but the #1 contender is actually Morrissey at the moment. Temurjyan faces him this week, so we'll see what comes of that! Levar Mills is still in the thick of it as well, having beaten Ulughbek İslomov at a house show.
  • No further reports on the Cruiserweight rankings until after Winter War.
  • No further reports on Women's Championship rankings until after Winter War
  • At the rate Air Morocco and Dan Bonez are progressing I really can't see anyone else in even a #1 contender's match for the Tag Team Championship at this point!
  • Still really close, but Tammy & Keisha hold the slightest of leads in the #1 contender's race for the Women's Tag Team Championship.
  • And The Young Turks seem to have blinked. :P Yes, they lost this week, against Two Kiwis Of A Feather, so they have slid to third in the standings and The ADF are alone in the driver's seat!
  • Welp, Bobby Mensik is still the Men's TV Champ. Deng Natali was the only challenger last week that even made him break a sweat. Could it end up being Mensik vs. Andrews for the TV Title? We'll see!
  • Dyana Pathakos is Tier 3 Women's TV Champ, but how long will she go? We've got a very interesting match booked for next week as Dyana Pathakos will face Crystal Woman on Blitz, and you know there's no love lost between those two! Lucimar Junqueira and Keisha Biggs are the other challengers this week.
Other Tier 3 Rivalries/Stable News
  • Denzel Bryant has issued a challenge to the ACA for a "fair fight" at Winter War. We'll see how this pans out.
  • For the second week in a row, Turkestan has found itself in the crosshairs of a stable, this time the Nordic Union on Slobberknocker. This time, though, it came to blows, and it was not pretty. Indeed, a couple members suffered legit (but not IR-worthy) injuries from it! The beatdown happened on Blitz after Suriyeli thought it'd be a good idea to shoot his mouth off at Hosny bin Sabry during a promo during which he also buried the Arab League.
  • Speaking of the Arabs, they suggested a 3X3 match to the Nordic Union for Winter War. "That way we can both go ham on Turkestan, then we can test our skills against each other, and the fans get a great match out of it!" This was Kicham Alami's rationale behind it. Michael Colding's response: "Sounds tempting... I'll give it some thought and get back to you before the deadline!"
  • Apparently Dom Adami wants a three-tier matchup between the Arab League and Turkestan, but Tiers 1 and 2 of Turkestan don't want anything to do with their Tier 3 counterparts. Yevgeny Saramankov, the stable's manager for Tiers 1 and 2, said, "There's a reason I don't manage Tier 3 even though they're technically part of the same stable. They're jackasses, every one. That's what I told Kez when she phoned me." Nevertheless, it does look like there will be cross-tier action for the Arab League as Team Palestine is surely going to be in a match against Royalty, which could also have two Turkestan members joining, probably Ulughbek İslomov and Myrat Süleýmanow if it does happen.
    • Along the same lines, Tier 1's Moustapha Berat actually slapped Metin Segem on Up-And-Coming for mouthing off to him about "hanging Tier 3 out to dry." Gylych Turesbekov insisted that it was because they had "acted the fools" by deliberately winding other stables up.
Tier 3 Injury Update
  • Chun Kiman returned on Slobberknocker.
  • Amy McIver's ETR is now early February, so she will be back in two months.
  • The worst of the injuries Turkestan suffered was that Michael Colding stiff-punched Ulughbek İslomov right in the nose, breaking it. He had it reset and was back (in a hard mask) on Up-And-Coming. Suriyeli needed a few stitches after being coshed by a bottle (made of candy glass, but still) over his head by former tag team partner Hosny bin Sabry.
