Coffee House - MyBB and You

As you are aware of, due to circumstances beyond our control, TCH has decided to move over to the MyBB forum software on the host IcyBoards as ZetaBoards' software was removed and forums migrated to Tapatalk which we did not wish to be a part of.

While MyBB offers many cool features, there are various things that are changed, removed, or added compared to ZetaBoards.

Here are a list of things that will be different so you are aware. (Much of the work on this was done by Gaomon274 - so, thanks for that !) 

Added features

• The Arcade is back! Yes, for the first time since 2014, we have an arcade full of Flash games to aid your daily procrastination. Okay, it's not exactly full yet - we do only have eight games right now - but, if you'd like more, then you can head over to this shop to request more . 
  
  
• Reputation! Want to let someone know they made your day? Well you can: just hit the 'User Rep' button in a thread, and leave a comment if you wish . 
  
  
• Thread ratings! Want to show how much you like a thread? You can now rate threads on a scale of one to five stars. Note that you cannot rate your own threads.
  
  
• Alerts! You can receive alerts for certain actions, like when someone issues you a reputation increase or quotes one of your posts. 
  
  
• Thread subscriptions! You can get a notification, either via PM or email, when somebody replies to your subscribed threads. 
  

Removed features

• Old threads will stay on ZetaBoards. We have no way to transfer those to MyBB, so unfortunately we can't keep all posts and threads . However, we will be recreating some popular threads, and all forum sections you know from the ZetaBoards TCH will be available.
  
  
• The Skinny Latte store will not be re-opened on the new board. MyBB themes are significantly more complex than their ZetaBoards counterparts, so I'm afraid it's simply not practical to install them on request - especially not for 30 days . 
  
  
• At this time we are not able to run a Coffee Credit currency lottery like we could using a code on ZetaBoards. However, we may run lottery-style giveaway contests in order to replace it!
  

Altered features
 

• Several BBCode tags have been changed: 
   
  • The [ big ] and [ small ] tags are now [ size=large ] and [ size=small ] or [ size=# ].
    
  • The [ center ] tag is now [ align=center ].
    
  • Embedding YouTube links is now [ video=youtube ] instead of using the [ flash ] tag.
    
  • Specifying the width and height of an image is now [ img=480x300 ] instead of [ img=480,300 ]
    
  • Tables are supported, but run a different format. We have a guide for you, found here:

• Friends list! You can add your friends to your friends list, similar to how you could have contacts in the PM system.
  
  
• Improved Coffee Credits! While these were available for ZetaBoards via a code, MyBB offers them with a built-in plugin. The currency also has weighted awards now, rewarding various content such as providing longer posts. • Liking posts! The ZetaBoards version offered this with a third party code, but it's built into MyBB. They'll display under a person's post so keep an eye out for those. Your profile will also track how many times you liked a post, and how many times your posts were liked in so many posts.
  
  
• User groups will no longer display their name under your profile on threads.
  (Don't worry! You'll still have the correct color and badge for your user group.)
  
  
• Themes. Due to changing forum software, none of the old TCH themes could be carried over directly. However, we have recreated some of the old TCH themes so you can continue to use them on the MyBB version of TCH and we also have some pre-built themes added for your convenience. Some of our other custom themes will be converted in the near future, once we're fully set up over here. Others (for example, Game Night) will unfortunately be staying on ZetaBoards, as we don't own those; however, we may make our own custom themes inspired by them at a later date.
  
  At this time, only the BootBB and Obsidian Metal themes are mobile-friendly - so, if you're expecting to come on here on your mobile a lot, then we recommend using one of these themes.
  
  
• You may notice user IDs and thread IDs are different. That is due to them being local to our particular forum, instead of the ID being generated based on all forums on the service.
  
  Your user ID and join date will also be different since these accounts are starting from scratch.
  
  (NOTE - All post counts and Coffee Credits will be added to your account here when the official switch takes place. So, you won't lose any progress )
  

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by any removed or altered features, but we hope you enjoy the MyBB version of Coffee House .

I'm already familiar with how MyBB works anyway, although it had been years since I was last on a forum powered by it (which was back in 2006/07). This feels good already

I'd seen some of the work on the IcyBoards version before the need to change to self-hosted MyBB, and what I saw there was already looking like great progress so it isn't surprising to see the final result is well done. I know too well the effort that has to go into moving a board from ZB to MyBB starting from scratch with almost everything, so I appreciate the work everyone put into this.

Though I hadn't had a reason to post an image on here yet so maybe that's why haha.

Excellent work so far guys. I'm sure you all will get used to it soon and will never ever want to go back to the old version (software-wise) Wonderful work on the themes conversions as well.

And, yeah, we're still in the initial "getting used to it" phase, and we still have problems to sort out - but, ZetaBoards is already starting to feel like a past home to me .
