Twitter is changing its logo to something completely different

Twitter has changed its brand and logo from its famous blue bird to "X".

The new white X on a black background has replaced the blue bird on the desktop version of the social network, although is yet to appear on the mobile app.

"Tweets" will also be replaced, according to Twitter's owner Elon Musk, and posts will be called "x's".
----------

I don't understand this change at all. Twitter's logo is one of the most recognised internet-related logos, so changing it to something completely different just seems silly.

But it doesn't matter to me, since I don't use Twitter and never have. Tweets is not a good form or communication. I prefer TCH to Twitter.

So everyone on there will be leaving kisses now? Stupid decision. The bird logo and use of 'tweeting' was different and recognisable. Companies love to change and refresh things, but also forget the option of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

Kind of weird, but it's fairly harmless to anyone other than the company itself. It could go either way honestly - the name change may attract more attention to Twitter to keep it relevant, or it might drive it towards obscurity. I reckon it won't actually change all that much - these name changes rarely do as much as people claim they will.

Obviously the old brand was iconic - but IMO, the new 'X' logo really isn't bad. It's simple, but distinctive... although it will take a lot of getting used to :P .

As for 'tweets' being re-named to "x's"... that's silly, and IMO it won't catch on. But I get the sense that Elon wasn't being entirely serious about that  .

The Twitter X logo looks way too similar to the X.org Window Manager logo. (

I think they were better off keeping what it was but I’m always a bit skeptic of change. The X isn’t as original as the bird and Twitter but I understand rebranding and times do change. Instagram has changed their logo a few times but it still resembles the previous ones.

Despite this, I doubt the app will drop off. I mean, TikTok wasn’t always TikTok. Like musically…

The X is literally just a Unicode symbol that anyone can type out; they didn't design an actual logo and better yet can't copyright it either because they can't own the design of an existing Unicode symbol. That's why it looks similar to other X logos; it's just using the same symbol but adding nothing onto it.
