The great thing about MyBB is, because it's self-hosted, they don't even own the data . Therefore, they couldn't stop me from migrating my data over to another system even if they wanted to . (Also, there are conversion tools that allow the data to be converted to various other forum systems, so we could simply use one of those )

Wouldn't there be an issue with migrating some of the data, such as the Coffee Credits?

That might be a little more complicated, yes. But if it came to it, I'd be willing to spend an afternoon or so keying all of that in manually .

Of course, I'd keep the credits for everyone (except the people who signed up and never posted, or made only a handful of posts and then left immediately - because keying them in is simply too much work for very little benefit )

Proboards is similar. They were touting V6 for years then announced it's on indefinite hold. Just doesn't look good. I would hope that if MyBB shuts down, you'll be able to migrate over. That is my concern with Proboards platform. Right now, they don't allow that. Does MyBB allow it now?

Interesting! I did not know that they didn't own the data. How cool is that! I looked up those conversion tools but they don't list Proboards. Then I had looked around & asked & it's because PB doesn't allow us!

Yeah... it was the same on ZetaBoards (which was why we lost all of our topics and posts when we switched from there to MyBB).

I guess they don't want people moving away from them - but still, it would've been nice to have that option for free on ZetaBoards when they closed down . (I guess they're technically still going on Tapatalk, but that system is barely usable, so I wouldn't really count that as "still going" )
