Somehow, we don't seem to have a thread on Formula E yet !
Formula E is the world's top class of open-wheel single-seater racing for electric cars. It was first established in 2014 - so, it's about to enter its fifth season. Most of the races are held in the winter, during the Formula One off-season, and they all take place on street tracks. So far, it's attracted quite a bit of attention from car manufacturers who are keen to improve the electric technology on their own road cars: as of 2018, Jaguar, Nissan, Audi, DS Automobiles, and BMW are all involved with teams of their own.
As you'd expect, the series is still quite some way behind Formula One. In particular, it's been mocked for the fact that the first generation of cars were unable to complete a full race distance - so, each driver had two cars, and they had to switch from one to the other halfway through the race. However, for the fifth season, a new generation of Formula E car has been introduced - and this one can actually complete a full race distance . I think the new car is quite a looker - especially in the black and gold livery of DS Techeetah Racing:
I don't follow the season that closely, but I'll be interested to see how much the technology has improved!
