Emulators

Does anyone here use them, what is your experience like?

I downloaded one for my iPhone yesterday and I downloaded all the Super Nintendo Donkey Kongs to it, Pokemon: Emeral, and Banjo-Kazooie. There's a lot more that I may consider adding.

I haven't used them very much... I used one a few years back to play Pokémon Emerald on the PC, and I think I used one to play a Windows XP game on Windows 10.

Was a bit of a faff, but it worked :) .

Used to use them a lot to play GameBoy games on the PC as a child. We also had some SNES and N64.

Well, I deleted the one from my iPhone because it apparently expired or something, so I think they wanted you to pay to keep it for longer than a week.

The one I tried to download on my PC didn't really work out.

I find that VisualBoy is the best one on PC. Can be a pain to set up sometimes but it seems to be the least faulty.

Never tried emulators on mobile phones, not sure why but I always assumed it would be glitchy and phones aren’t the best to play on. A downfall of the iPhone is that you can’t customise or mess around as much as you can on Android. I have a legitimate Stardew Valley on my phone but I have a SE 2 so it’s a pain to play.

Was the one you pay for on mobile any good while you had it?

May have to give VisualBoy a try one day.

The emulator I used on my iPhone didn't seem glitchy at all.

I didn't have to pay for the mobile one, it was free. Delta was the name of it.

I have ePSXe for Playstation 1, and zsnes for SNES, on my computer.

Emulators allow one to relive and save old games that might eventually be lost to time otherwise.

I have used them extensively for years, on both my phone, computer and PS3. They have allowed me to experience a myriad of games I wouldn't have been able to enjoy otherwise.

My favorite is "DraStic", a genius Nintendo DS emulator for Android that runs flawlessly on any phone and tablet I have tried it on, from my first one (Android 4.2) to my current one (Android 8).

I used an emulator one time for my PSOne Classic, since it didn't come with nearly enough actual classic PSOne titles bundled into it. I've never used one other than that though.

The one you want is zsnes.  It works on Mac, pc, and Linux.  Just run the executable, configure your controller or keyboard keys, and open your snes ROM.

Been using it for years to play romhacks since I don't have a flashcart for my snes.  If you want something more modern RetroArch is also a good choice.
