I don't know if this was the case on the rest of the world, but Fotolog was the DOMINANT FORCE here for a surprising amount of time.
Nobody had MySpace, very few people had heard about Facebook and there was no Instagram to hang out at, so anybody who was anybody went and made a "Flog" (particularly on Terra's server). These pages were so popular that they even spawned an entire subculture here and they also became the number one form of SPAM among forums and Instant Messaging apps. It was so crazy that people I knew forfeited their MSN Messenger accounts and the only way to really reach them was through their "Flogs"... which was all fine and dandy until the fad had come to a pass and you realized that there was no way to contact these online friends at all anymore. I literally haven't talked to many of my first online friends since 2006 or so because of their undying love for this fad and now that their pages have long been deleted by the server providers, nothing remains of our talks.
My, personally? I never had a "Flog", for most of the same reasons that I don't post pictures on Facebook or Instagram. I don't like taking pictures of myself and I particularly don't like sharing them with strangers around the globe (and besides, these were really primitive pages with very few things on the way of security and anti-harrasment tools). I was always seen as a bit of an oddball because of this decision of staying the hell away from the most popular thing ever™.
What about you? Did you have your own "Flog"? Were you active at all? Or is this your first time hearing about these? Tell us!
