Newcomer results + Sub-forum changes

As we move into a new year, I have a bunch of announcements for you - starting with the old year, and then moving on to the new!

1. Newcomer of the Year 2021 results

The Newcomer of the Year 2021 poll has just concluded. The full results of the poll were as follows:

1st place: loves2chat (9 votes)
=2nd place: Photon (4 votes)
=2nd place: Terminotter (4 votes)
=2nd place: Zerg Rush (4 votes)
=5th place: Nabeela (2 votes)
=5th place: Varlot (2 votes)
7th place: TwistedPingu (1 vote)

Congratulations to loves2chat on winning the Newcomer of the Year 2021 title! Behind him, there was a three-way tie - and, all three of those members have received a Silver Medal. Furthermore, everyone who received at least 2 votes has won a Coffee Credits prize, depending on where they placed. Congrats and thanks, everyone !

2. Member of the Year 2021 Nominations open

With the conclusion of our Newcomer of the Year award, nominations for the main Member of the Year competition are now open! Simply nominate up to two people whom you believe have made positive contributions to the community over the past 12 months. At the end of the nominations period, a poll will be held - and the winner will receive the Member of the Year 2021 award!

3. Sub-forum changes

But, enough about the old year now - and moving on to the new . We found that our forum layout had fallen out of date in a couple of places - and, it was time to make some updates. In particular, General Chat now has two sub-forums, which are as follows:

• Jokes and Internet Humour - These used to be two separate forums, with 'Jokes' as a sub-forum of General Chat, and 'Internet Humour' as a sub-forum of Entertainment. However, neither section was particularly active - and the 'Internet Humour' section really got squeezed out (it was far less active than the TV/movies/music sub-forums - and even less active than the Reading sub-forum, which is quite a small section in itself). I decided there was really no hope for this section - so, I just merged it in with the Jokes sub-forum.
  
  
• What Does This Make You Think Of? - Recently, we've had a number of threads of the "What does X make you think of?" format. These were pretty popular - but they were very quickly getting buried under the "What did you do today?" types of threads - and they weren't really natural bedfellows with those threads to begin with. As a result, I've moved them into a separate sub-forum.

Congrats to our Newcomer of the Year winners; good luck in Member of the Year; and enjoy the revised layout!
