Minor characters you wanted to see more of

Usually, a TV show, movie, or book will revolve around a small group of main characters - supported by a bunch of secondary characters, and a plethora of minor characters. However, sometimes, one of the secondary or minor characters will grab our attention - perhaps because they're interesting or mysterious, or maybe because we have some kind of personal connection to them . So, here's a place to talk about the characters we wanted to see more of!

I'll start with a Harry Potter example: Charlie Weasley. We saw quite a lot of his six siblings: Ginny and Ron were main characters; Fred and George were two of the more prominent supporting characters; Percy was somewhat prominent in the earlier books; and Bill had a decent-sized role in the later books. However, we saw hardly any of Charlie - which is a real shame, since he seemed to have an awesome life: captaining the Quidditch team, and then working with dragons! It might have been nice to see Harry practising Quidditch with him during the school holidays (of course, this role is filled by Oliver Wood when Harry is at Hogwarts, but he was a Keeper, and I'm sure Charlie would have had some useful Seeker-specific lessons to add!!!)

Another one, this time from Star Wars: Captain Phasma.

She looked pretty awesome in her chrome Stormtrooper outfit - and she had the makings of a great villain. Unfortunately, she never really did much: she was defeated easily in Episode VII, and while she was a bit more of a threat in Episode VIII, she was still nothing to write home about.

Such a waste of great potential IMO .

Charlie Weasley is a good one. I was also going to suggest a HP character. I'd have liked to have had a bit more from Remus Lupin in the later books. He kind of goes to one side and I thought he'd have kept a closer bond with Harry.

I can't think of any from shows, but I can for games which I guess counts as entertainment and may as well go here anyway since as far as I know there's no thread for minor characters in games (and it seems a bit pointless to split a subject across multiple threads purely for the medium).

Cutter from Uncharted 3 is a character I would've liked to see more of, as his role in the game had to be cut down significantly because the voice actor had other obligations during the development of the game, and so was written out of the story earlier than intended. He wasn't super interesting, but that may be because the exploration of his character had to be scrapped for the reason mentioned. He's also the only character in the entire series who is basically a one and done but not due to proper story closure.

Yeah, agreed. I'm fine with video game examples going here... there's no thread specifically for video game characters, and no real point in creating one .

Anyway, an example from Squid Game now: Player 062. That's probably me being biased, since he's a maths teacher - but, I would've liked to see how he approached the games that he won. For example, I suspect he would've won the Marbles round by inventing a complicated (or deceptive) game that only a mathematician would have really understood !

Agatha(Pokémon). What even happened to her after the Kanto era events anyway? She had that rivalry with Professor Oak!

Sandra from Superstore. We do see more of her in the later seasons but at first she doesn’t get that major a role. I think her popularity led to more screen time though.

Gul Macet from Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was the first Cardassian we saw in the franchise and although he ended up having a decent-sized role in non-canon novels, he was only ever seen once in the show, likely due to Marc Alaimo being the recurring character Gul Skrain Dukat on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. But in Macet we saw a more honourable Cardassian, something perhaps the ST franchise needed more of. Because in the later years, the only real Cardassian "good guy" was likeable but morally relativistic and sometimes downright scumbaggy Elim Garak.

I wouldn't've minded seeing his affable first officer Glinn Daro make a return, either.

Another Squid Game example: Player 324. He seemed like a goofball and a real fun guy, but we didn't see much of him.
