Kabosu, the dog behind the "doge" meme, has died after 14 years of internet fame, her owner has said.
The Japanese shiba inu inspired a generation of online jokes and became the face of Dogecoin cryptocurrency.

She had been suffering from leukaemia and liver disease and died on 24 May.

"She quietly passed away as if asleep while I caressed her," Atsuko Sato wrote on her blog, thanking Kabosu's fans.

RIP, Doge. :'(   That meme was always great. It's sad she died, but at least she lived a good and long life for a dog.

My condolences to her owner.

Since this had already been posted about in the "Dog News" thread (and the story itself is over a month old now anyway), I've merged it into that thread.

But yes: once again, RIP, Kabosu :( .

Earlier this year, a six-legged dog (whose two extra limbs were fused together like a mermaid's tail) was found abandoned. Fortunately, a new owner called Ollie Bird took her in; named her 'Ariel'; and took her in for surgery to have the extra legs removed. She's now living a new life by the seaside:

Glad to hear things are better for her now :) !

A dog has survived a 50ft drop off an old railway bridge - albeit with serious injuries:

Such a relief that she pulled through in the end :) !
