A video by Jello Apocalipse finally pushed me over the edge and I thus decided to watch the first Studio Ghibli film I could find. That film turned out to be Kiki's Delivery Service.Awesome! Now go see the other nineteen.
It was a very beautiful entry to the world of Ghibli and, while I did not consider the movie a masterpiece, I was oh so incredibly charmed by it, and with a power and consistency other studios seem to have a horrible time nearing.
After that, I watched Spirited Away... and to say that I was blown away would be the understatement of a lifetime. This film rapidly (and viciously) fought against hundreds of other animated works I have seen during my life --with several heavy weights in there-- and it claimed the top spot. Simply put, I can't believe how good it is and I kind of hate myself for neglecting it and its studio for this long.
My last SB film (so far) has been My Neighbor Totoro. Songs aside, I actually didn't like this one, unfortunately. I feel like it keeps building itself to a delivery that simply never comes.
But oh well, I actually enjoyed the 80 minutes it demanded off me.
