Another Childhood

[Kyng]

"Okay !" Meriandra agreed.

The guards got one of the servants to find Jake's journal, and compare it with the woman's. He was quite disgusted with what the pair of them had written; however, they did indeed seem to match up.

Meanwhile, Kyle was left alone to relax in his room - until, the following day, Meriandra returned. "Good morning !"

[Megan]

The guards brought it to the regent who frowned. He wasn’t entirely pleased as he didn’t care for the woman. “Well, I guess she is right…I was hoping it was false…”


Kyle sighed at hearing Meriandra. “Morning…”

[Kyng]

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean we need to accept the baby as an heir," the guard argued. "Remember: even if this is 100% true, the baby is still illegitimate..."

"How did you sleep?" Meriandra asked. "You ready for more walking practice?"

[Megan]

Kyle sighed. “I guess…”


The regent nodded. “I guess that’s true. We’d almost be better off going with Kyle before going with this child.”

[Kyng]

"Yeah, but how do we get Kyle here?" the guard asked. "He's in New Atlantis... and it's too well-protected to attack..."

"Okay... well, I really think we should aim to at least get out into the corridor today," Meriandra suggested. "After all, Lydia's deadline is tomorrow..."

[Megan]

Kyle frowned. “I don’t want to go in the hall…” he complained.

”True…well before they did want us to consider Kyle…we could try just going over and talking…”

[Kyng]

"Well, you're going to have to," Meriandra urged. "If not today, then tomorrow. You can't just spend your entire life in this room..."

"Worth a try, I guess..." the guard acknowledged. "Should I accompany you, to keep you safe?"

[Megan]

“I suppose so.” The regent said nodding.


Kyle pouted. “I don’t see why I can’t…” he grumbled.

[Kyng]

Meriandra sighed deeply. "Because if everyone did that, no food would be grown; no homes would be built; and no tools would be forged. You'd simply starve if everyone stayed in their room and sat on their beds all day... which is why you need to make yourself useful. You can't just freeload off everyone else: that's selfish."

[Megan]

“I’m not freeloading…I don’t like coming out of my room.” Kyle said frowning.
