Towns and Cities of the Asleep Universe -

I already have a thread about a
map of the Asleep Universe. However, that thread is more focused on the big picture: it's about the kingdoms, and the universe as a whole. This thread is on a smaller scale: I'll be making plans of the towns and cities, and perhaps also some of the individual buildings.
To do this, I'll be using
Townscaper. This is quite a simple city-building sandbox, that allows you to create your own city plans with fairly minimal effort. The only real downside is that, as far as I'm aware, it only has one architectural style (so these are probably going to end up looking a bit samey). However, it's a style that suits New Atlantis quite well - so, that's what I'm going to be starting with
.
Here's what I've got for New Atlantis so far:

The key for this (and all future screenshots) is as follows:
- Normal commercial buildings (e.g. shops) are in yellow;
- Normal industrial buildings (e.g. workshops, forges) are in blue;
- Normal residential buildings (e.g. houses) are in red;
- Special buildings (e.g. castles, homes of important characters) will be in a variety of other colours.
As you can see, I don't have a whole lot yet. The castle itself is at the back of the picture - with one big tower, and several smaller ones surrounding it. The large building towards the bottom-left of the castle grounds is the barracks, and the green house just above that represents Conor's and Cheryl's treehouse. Outside the main gatehouse is a large market (which extends further out than what I've drawn so far), and just past that is the main carpenters' and blacksmiths' area. There are some houses, of course, but I haven't drawn those yet: they're all further out

Hopefully, I'll have a finished version of New Atlantis before too long!

Since this is a bit addictive, I did some more:

Updates are as follows:
- Expanded the commercial and industrial areas around the castle, and added residential areas further out.
- Along the left-hand side of the screen (from top to bottom) are the bridge to Lennart Kingdom; a lighthouse; and the docks.
- The white building to the right of the lighthouse is the theatre. (Perhaps this should be yellow, because it's commercial; however, I think it's special enough to warrant being coloured in white );
- The new square building in the castle walls (between the theatre and the barracks) is the stable.
- The white building on the right-hand side of the screen (in the middle of all the workshops and forges) is the Creaky Asylum (where Nestor somehow hasn't been sent yet ).
- There are a few random green buildings dotted around. These are neither commercial, nor industrial, nor residential; however, I haven't decided what they are yet. They're essentially placeholders for if I need them later .

Not really much to this: I just added some more housing (with the further-out areas being less dense and with more garden space than the further-in areas). I also added a few more placeholder 'special' buildings, and added a little fountain, since one of those was mentioned in one of the RPGs a while back
.
New Atlantis does extend further outwards than this; however, I've reached the edge of the in-game map, so I can't draw any of the outer suburbs here. There's also a forest in the top right that I haven't drawn: I did try to build something out of green houses, but it just looked dumb, so I got rid of it.
Anyway, next up will be
Waldstein!
