Batwoman Lead Leaving The Show! - Tiger Eyes - 05-19-2020

You read the title correctly. Ruby Rose, who stars as Kate Kane/Batwoman is leaving the show and not returning for season 2.I am shocked and very sorry to see her go. The CW is recasting the role for the DC TV series.

I just started watching Batwoman with my husband recently and I am sadden that she is leaving the role but it said that it did say that was scene while filming season 1 that left her facing paralysis and needing emergency surgery which could be cause of her deciding to leave.

I love Ruby Rose. It was great to see her in something big, especially as a lead, after OITNB. I guess it does look bad for the show for the main character to leave as it's only one season in.

Either way, I hope that her recast is another queer icon. The representation was powerful. It could be a smooth transition. They changed Reggie from Ross to Charles in Season 2 of Riverdale.

Apparently, they aren't re-casting Kate Kane at all. Instead, they'll have an entirely new character leading the show:

Sounds like a very high-risk move - but, let's wait and see what they have in store.

I don't know how far this is gonna go, but there is a little buzz that WWE Superstar Sonya Deville wants that role.  Deville is also a former MMA fighter who competed in three fights (2 Victories, 1 defeat), and like the character Kate Kane (don't know for sure about Ruby Rose), Deville is openly lesbian, the first to compete in WWE.

I just learned that they are planning to kill of Kate Kane, which is why they aren't recasting the role.
