Premier League to create Hall of Fame - Kyng - 02-27-2020

The Premier League is launching a Hall of Fame, with the first inductees to be announced in March.

Two players will be inducted initially alongside a shortlist of nominees for future inclusion, voted for by fans.

The Hall of Fame will recognise players of "exceptional skill and talent" from home and abroad who have played in the top division since it began in 1992.

A separate English Football Hall of Fame has existed since 2002 and is housed at the National Football Museum.

Candidates for the new Premier League Hall of Fame must have retired and only a player's Premier League career is considered.

I have to admit, I'm not entirely sure this is going to work out. If they're only considering a player's Premier League career, then I can't see it being as prestigious as the English Football Hall of Fame - which has been running for nearly 20 years, and covers all of English football history.

I guess it depends on just how much they market it, TBH.

I don't think this is required, as we already have the English Football Hall of Fame. Also, I don't think it'll be nearly as prestigious as the English Football Hall of Fame.

It can be neat if used to get those not in the English Football Hall Of Fame a second shot at immortality.

I do hope it doesn't end up being a mirrored hall, though, with the exact same inductees running on both.
