PayPal wrote to a woman who had died of cancer saying her death had breached its rules and that it might take legal action as a consequence.
The firm has since acknowledged that the letter was "insensitive", apologised to her widower, and begun an inquiry into how it came to be sent.
The matter came to light after her bereaved husband contacted the BBC.
He said he wanted to make other organisations aware how distressing automated messages could be.
Lindsay Durdle died on 31 May aged 37.
Wow, what a ridiculous letter. If this was some kind of joke, whoever sent this ought to be very ashamed of themselves. Or, if it was a glitch, how the heck did it happen?!

Probably, but it's a ruthless tactic. As if Microsoft were harsh enough for the way they operate.

Legal action against a dead person??

Well, here in the UK, it is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament. I have no idea how they'd enforce that, but it's not a
completely unprecedented situation

I think this is more of those odd things rather than a "cash grab" seeing as they cant charge any money from a dead person.
