"Can you do something?" Lysander answered. "Any kind of healing spell that you remember from your studies? It doesn't have to be much - but, if there's anything that can sustain him until we get to Kemmelhearth, then that's all we need..."
"Maybe I should shrink him..." Aliana added, as she tried to wipe the tears away from her face. "Might make the healing effect more powerful..."

“Ummm I wasn’t very good at it, but I can try” Ben said.
After Aliana shrunk Kyle he tried a small healing spell on him.

The miniaturised Kyle glowed with a faint, but still very noticeable, white light. A few seconds later, the glowing began to dim - but Kyle started to breathe more easily and visibly.
While Ben and Aliana were busy trying to heal Kyle, Henrik was cutting jagged pits and spikes into the tunnel behind them, in order to make it as impassable as possible, should the pursuing army break through the rock face at the top of the mountain. "Yer shoul' probably take a detour ter the Linningdale River", Henrik recommended, as he cut out a slab of rock to make the steep gradient even steeper. "I' runs underground in these parts, an' it's only a slight diversion from 'ere. It's go' lots o' fish, which'll help ter sustain us. And best o' all, I reckon the numbskulls o' Lennart Castle don' even know it's there!"

Rupert nodded. “I guess that’s a good idea...” he looked to Aliana. “How’s Kyle?”

"He's....he's alive", Aliana answered tearfully, as she held him in her hands and stroked his tiny head. "But I don't know for how long... we'd best go..."
Having finished his work, Henrik sheathed his axe, and led the way down the tunnel towards Kemmelearth. In order to conserve her own energy, Aliana restored Kyle to his normal size - and then, Rupert and Lysander carried him along the dark, unforgiving path.

The group was mostly quiet as they traveled, other then Lysander complaining about Kyle being heavy, but usually shut up real quick after some glares from various members of the the group.
By the time they reached the river, Kyle had stirred slightly...

The company sat down on the banks of a shadowy underground river, whose presence they could detect only from the sounds of the stream crashing against the boulders. Almost immediately, Henrik unscrewed the head of his axe - revealing a fishing line concealed within. "There's plenty o' fish for all o' us. They ain't no biscuits, bu' they're the best we go' righ' now!"
He then pulled his hand behind his back, and retrieved a second one, which he handed to Rupert. "Here yer go. An' you two wi' the fishy tails, yer adept at swimmin' as it is, so I trust yer won' be needin' no anglin' apparatus!"
Aliana nodded weakly, and hopped straight into the water, followed shortly afterwards by Lysander. Meanwhile, as the only person still awake who had no means of fishing, Benjamin was left on the sidelines to take care of Kyle.

While the others fished Kyle groaned softly, moving slightly. "A...Ali...ana..." he mumbled.

"She'll be back soon," Benjamin whispered. "I'm sure she'll want to talk to you..."
A few minutes later, Aliana returned to shore, still with a fish tail wriggling around in her mouth: when she realised this, she promptly swallowed the unfortunate creature before any of her friends had a chance to see. She'd eaten five fish in all, and her brother had swallowed a similar number, while Rupert was content with only three. However, Henrik's stomach was so deep that he'd gobbled up twice as many as everyone else combined!
"Here Ben, yer can 'ave some o' these," Henrik offered, pointing to a basket stuffed with all the fish he'd caught. "An' I'll le' Kyle 'ave one too, if 'e ever wakes up!"

Ben took the fish, before pointing at Kyle. "He...he did come to...he was asking for Aliana..." he said timidly.
