Toy Story 4 - Kyng - 11-13-2018

So, it's been nearly a quarter of a century since the first Toy Story movie hit our screens in 1995 (scarily, it's getting to the point where it's old enough to be legitimately considered a 'classic movie' :O ). Two sequels followed: Toy Story 2 in 1999, and Toy Story 3 in 2010. The latter movie ended with the toys' original owner, Andy, leaving for college - after which the toys were passed on to a young girl named Bonnie. Now, in next year's Toy Story 4, we should get to see how the toys get along under her ownership!

Yesterday, we got our first trailer for the movie:

And, hot on the heels of that, we got our second one today:

I think I like the bird and the bear in the second trailer. The spork in the first one is kinda freaky, though :O !

That no care bear, is really a bunny wabbit. :P Also, this is yet aother Toy Story I'll probably just skip on seeing until it releases to dvd.

Talk about milking a franchise. Seriously. Do we really need a fourth? How about instead of a live action Lion King movie, we have an actual third movie?

Well, let's just hope they don't combine their two ideas by doing a live-action Toy Story remake D: !

Actually, that was done before with the Toy Story Toons shorts.

Once Disney realizes they can't milk anymore movies out of the story, they'll probably try re-releasing them. :P

Ah, interesting - I hadn't heard of those!

However, since the vast majority of the audience for this movie won't have seen those shorts, I'd be very surprised if this movie wasn't "the toys and Bonnie" again. Perhaps there will be references and allusions to the shorts, but definitely nothing which makes them 'required viewing' (as in, impossible to understand the movie without having seen them).

Well, the early indications are looking very positive indeed. After 93 reviews, it has a 100% 'fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes:

Of course, viewers don't always agree with critics - we recently saw a very high-profile example of this with The Last Jedi - but, so far, they couldn't have asked for a better start!

Can't wait to see this! I love this series.

This film does seem to have generated rather mixed results at the box office. Surprisingly, it's underperforming in North America; however, it's making up for that with stronger-than-expected showings in the rest of the world:
