RE: Game of Thrones - JHG - 09-26-2021

This source apparently says November of this year: https://www.google.com/amp/s/alphanewscall.com/2021/09/23/updated-winds-of-winter-release-date/
Hopefully it will be worth the wait and that article wasn’t trolling…

To be completely honest, I'd take that article with a grain of salt. It doesn't cite any named sources; I can't verify the release date independently in another article; and the English is absolutely terrible (to the point where I have to wonder whether it was generated by an AI or something).

(Also, it looks like the article has been updated since it was first posted, and it's now saying November 2023 :P . Hopefully, it won't be that long!)

RE: A Song of Ice and Fire (book series) - Kyng - 03-19-2022

I decided to split this thread into two - so, there's a new thread for the TV series, while this thread will be dedicated the book series. There are two reasons for this:

  1. I believe both subjects are broad enough, and popular enough, to be worthy of their own threads;

  2. I don't want 'Reading' to be a place where we just discuss movies and TV series that have been adapted from books. Of course, it's fine for people to bring up the TV series in this thread while discussing the books - but the focus of any such discussions must remain on the books. If people just want to discuss the TV series (without reference to the books), then that should be done in the 'Screen and Stage' sub-forum.

Anyway... as for why the books are taking so long to finish, George RR Martin said a few years ago that he'd "written himself into a corner". He'd killed off a character, only to realise that he needed them alive for the final book - and he hadn't yet figured out a satisfying resolution to that issue. Of course, this was a few years ago, so it's possible that he's thought of some way out of this problem - but, does anyone have any ideas as to which character this might be?

Now, George RR Martin has revealed that the books won't end the same way the TV series did - and, in particular, not everyone who lived in the TV series will survive in the books:

At least this means he intends to finish the books... I still wonder whether he'll complete them at all!!!

Fine by me: they aren't real, so he can kill as many as he wants for all I care :P !

RE: A Song of Ice and Fire (book series) - Cory - 10-17-2022

I recently bought the entire book series on Amazon and Fire and Blood at Books a Million. I know I say this a lot, but I really want to force myself to read all of these books one day. It will probably take me forever considering when I do read, I read sparingly.

Taking forever to finish reading them isn't a problem, when George RR Martin is taking forever to finish writing them Rofl .

In any case, I hope you enjoy them :) !

That's fine: to be honest, I think they were all doomed anyway :lol: .
