Devon is lovely! Really enjoyed my few visits there. It is one of my favourite counties in England.
I have visited areas in the North and South of the county and there are still more to be visited in time. Why do I like it? For one I love being 'beside the seaside' and a lot of the seaside areas manage to look pretty and so picturesque. At least the somewhat more touristy areas I've been to. There are a few beaches in England which don't look quite so inviting and are a bit built up, and/or are overly-touristy, so I really noticed the difference with the Devon beaches. I'm sure it has helped my little holidays have been in the summer months, even if it's not necessarily been too sunny. There's some lovely, most impressive views both N and S looking out to the sea, as well as the woodlands and other scenery you can walk amongst. There's also quite a lot of things you can do in the various areas. A notable thing for me was going to Coombe Martin wildlife park and going to a talk about the wolves that reside there. :) I visited Exeter a year or two ago for a few hours and liked looking around the cathedral, and it was an interesting layout, the town centre being uphill. It was interesting, but for me the countryside and coastal areas are the best parts of Devon.
I'll see if I still have a few photos of my North Devon visit from way back in 2007, but I have a feeling those were some I had to chop off my old Photobucket account recently.
