So for those that don't know, Zork was a game that came out in the early 1980's and was actually spit into 3 parts from the original game written for the mainframe at MIT.

it's a classic and I highly recommend people check it out, you can play it online these days.

what we have here however is a variant method for playing it I came up with for forums as a community effort to complete the game and have fun doing it to.

this post will be split into 3 parts, the first is explaining how this variation works, then attached in spoilers is the map and the inventory which will be updated as the game progresses.

the idea is to complete the adventure and discover the secrets of the underground empire.

3 things to keep in mind, the game is updated in two steps a decision is made by first suggestions from people then after a bit a poll is posted, the poll made up of suggestions for the next move to be made and then voted on.
the winning option is the next move in the game.

as the game progresses the map is updated filling in as you explore simulating how most people created maps for the game.
the red @ Symbol indicates your position much like in the classic rogue like game well... rogue.

as items are collected a graphical representation of the item in the inventory and a simple description are added.

next post will be the start of the game.

West of House
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front
door.
There is a small mailbox here.
Image of house

What do you do?
open mailbox
Since has already opened the mailbox (which is the first thing I would have done), I'll just peer through one of the windows to see if I can spot anything inside  .
Open Mailbox > Opening the small mailbox reveals a leaflet.

Opening the leaflet reveals the following written inside.

"Welcome to ZORK!
Zork is a game of adventure, Danger, and low cunning.
in it you will explore some of the most amazing territory ever seen by mortals.
no computer should be without one!"

Look in windows > The windows are boarded up, you see a dimly lit room inside but it's hard to tell what's within.
go around house
Since the house is already being explored, I'll sneak into the back yard and see if there's anything of interest there :P .
> south

SOUTH OF HOUSE
You are facing the south side of a white house. There is no door here, and all the windows are barred.

> east

BEHIND HOUSE
You are behind the white house. In one corner of the house there is a small window which is slightly ajar.
There is a forest to the north, east, and south with dense foliage.
open window
I guess I'll just rummage through the foliage, to see whether anything got left behind there :P .
> open window

With great effort, you open the window far enough to allow entry.

> Look closely at foliage

Looking closely you notice the grass is unkempt and wild from years of abandonment, there is little to find other than a small anthill nearby the house which appears to have existed for some time.

the nearby forest is similarly untrimmed with the occasional dead limb or branch mixed in with the greenery, the forest seems to have a very dilapidated path to the east mostly overgrown and with little to indicate there ever was one.
