I've been watching quite a few of these recently. A group of us from my dance club watch movies together after class, and often it ends up being a Studio Ghibli film. We've recently watched Porco Rosso, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and Kiki's Delivery Service. They're always cute and fluffy films, although Porco Rosso will always hold a place in my heart for being utterly charming in its style. For those who don't know, the premise is a humanoid pig who flies a plane and stops mafia pilots from committing crimes. It's so much more than that, though, and definitely worth a watch.
Well, I’d rather be a pig than a fascist!
Oh yeah and how well does this fan theory work?

Dang it! I didn't mention Earwig and the Witch was released two months ago!
Still, it was alright. I felt it was alright.

Looks like that Amino is members-only :( . Would you be able to give a summary of that theory for us?

Bit of a shame you thought the movie was only alright, but I guess that's better than 'terrible' .

Love too! The various Studio Ghibli films can be sorted into different universes and timelines thus...
Ghibli Prime(This timeline contains the big setpieces of Studio Ghibli. Like reality except for magic, floating cities and fox squirrels)-Tale of Princess Kaguya(Heian jidai), Princess Mononoke(Muromachi/Azuchi-Momoyama/Sengoku jidai), Castle in the Sky(c. 1910s-20s), and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga(far future) The Nausicaä movie is a propaganda film in-universe
Nickelodeon Avatar(These Ghibli movies are set in the universe of Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra)-My Neighbor Totoro(c. 240 AG), and Spirited Away(about twenty years after Totoro)
Planetos(The A Song of Ice and Fire universe I just called Planetos because Wynaut. There is an undiscovered continent east of Essos and west of Westeros called Meridiania where the events of Kiki's Delivery Service, Disney's Bolt, and Little Witch Academia happen. Also, as you can tell this timeline's/universe's existence is based on wishful thinking.)-Kiki's Delivery Service(about sixty years before the War of the Five Kings)
Ghibli alt(This universe is pretty much identical to ours. All the contemporary era/historical fiction pieces fit here.)-The Wind Rises(1930s-40s), Grave of the Fireflies(World War II), From Up on Poppy Hill(1963), Ocean Waves(1990s), Only Yesterday(1990s), Whisper of the Heart(1994), My Neighbors the Yamadas(1990s), and When Marnie was There(2010s(even though the book is likely set in 1967)) The Cat Returns is Shizuku Tsukishima's story existing in this universe as fiction.
The Borrowers(The universe where Mary Norton's The Borrowers is set in)-Arrietty. The Borrowers books exist in-universe as science textbooks.
Earthsea(The universe of Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea)-The Tales from Earthsea film exists in-universe as propaganda meant as slander to Cob.
Howl's Moving Castle(The universe of Diana Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle)-The Howl's Moving Castle film exists in-universe as a biopic of Howell's Ingarian alter ego Howl.
Unsorted-Porco Rosso, Pom Poko, and Ponyo.
Well, I just watched my first Studio Ghibli film, since I noticed there were a bunch of them on Netflix. And, the one I picked was Spirited Away.

Absolutely beautiful film, I thought - not just in terms of the visuals, but also the rich fantasy setting and characters, which brought back a certain childhood nostalgia (even though I'd never seen any of these films until today  ). I was a bit surprised that the ending was so quick - but even so, it was rather joyful to see everything being resolved the way that it was :) .

I'll definitely be watching more of these films!
Since I liked Spirited Away so much, I decided to pick another one - and this time, it was Howl's Moving Castle.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting from this film... but, I wasn't expecting a European setting with steampunk elements  ! Still, it was an absolute joy to watch: it was just as fantastical and whimsical as Spirited Away was, with the 'castle' itself being a particular highlight :P . And it had some loveable characters too (especially Calcifer, who was cute, but also scarily powerful!). The only thing is, I felt like the plot resolved itself a little bit too readily (the way in which the war ended was a straight-up deus ex machina), but I still found it very enjoyable, and I'd certainly recommend it.

Also, it's a bit of a shame it doesn't have a sequel. The story does leave room for one (and indeed, the original book did get a sequel)... so, maybe one day :P .
Apparently, they're opening their a theme park in the city of Nagakute (near Nagoya) on 1st November:

I wasn't aware that they were building a theme park - but, if Disney can do it, then there's no reason why Studio Ghibli can't  !!!

Yay! At last you know the glory of Ghibli!

I would so wanna see Castle in the Air and The House of Many Ways get adapted!

Same :D .

I wonder if Castle in the Air hasn't been adapted, because Ghibli already did Castle in the Sky, and any Castle in the Air adaptation would just get confused with that? (Though, I guess they could call it something like Howl's Flying Castle, so that it doesn't get mixed up!)
