Cassandra gulped, as she held the letter up in her hand, and showed it to Nestor.
"Well, it's a bit late now
. And we obviously can't give Kyle back, so... what do we do? I mean... do we warn Frederick and Anita, for example?"
Nestor sighed. “Probably should...if Jake gets out who knows what he’ll do.”
"Yeah..." Cassandra agreed, with a sigh. "But I'm not sure if we can just write directly to them. We know they don't trust us... they might not even pass the letters from New Atlantis on to people there, and even if they do, they might check them first. So... maybe we could disguise them in some way?"
“Maybe make teem look like they came from a common person?” Nestor suggested.
"Sure
," Nestor agreed. "I like that idea
!"
Nestor then spent the next minute or so scribbling a letter down on a piece of parchment. It was barely legible: the handwriting was very untidy and smudged, and almost every word was misspelled. Furthermore, Nestor had deliberately scrunched the letter up to make it look less like an official document.
"Done it
," Nestor announced proudly. "Now, how do I seal this thing? I'm pretty sure common people don't use wax seals
..."
“Hm...I don’t know just tape it down or something.” Cassandra said with a shrug.
"Well, I'm not sure if commoners have tape either," Nestor argued. "Actually... why don't I go find one?"
Nestor dashed out of the room and into the corridor - where he confronted the first servant he found, who just happened to be a bewildered butler.
"Excuse me... when you send a letter, how do you seal it?" he asked, shrugging his shoulders. "I assume you don't use wax..."
“Er...l the servant gave Nestor a weird look. “We just usually lick it...”
"Okay
..." Nestor responded, with an awkward wince. "I'll try that..."
Nestor shoved the paper into his mouth in order to lick it... but, unfortunately, it went in too far, and he ended up choking on it. As a result, he dashed back to his room for assistance.
"HELP
!" he cried, as he gestured towards Cassandra, completely purple in the face. "I choked on my letter!"
Of course, Aliana couldn't help but burst into a fit of laughter...
Cassandra could barely keep a straight face. She hurried over pulling the paper out of his mouth. “What in the world were you doing?”
