Moon https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-66657541 Moon

The biggest and brightest Moon of the year will be visible on Wednesday and Thursday from around the world.

It will be a rare chance to see what is known as a blue supermoon - the last one was in 2009.

A blue Moon happens when the pattern of days in a year means there are 13 full Moons instead of the usual 12.

If the skies are clear, the best time to see the spectacle in the UK will be in early hours of Thursday morning.

It has already been lighting up skies around the world, from Asia to the Middle East to southern Europe.

Yeah, I saw the moon on my way home this evening - and, it did look rather brighter than usual  .

Has anyone else seen it - and, if so, did you get any pictures?
I only could see a bit of it. Been cloudy here lately.
& if others have pictures, do share them with all of us here :) We need to live by proxy.

Well, there are quite a lot of pictures of it in this gallery :) .

I think my personal favourite is this one, from Greece:

I saw it - it was particularly clear in Australia as you might expect! It's amazing how something we see most days can still be so beautiful and fill us with such awe and wonder.
Is that moon to scale? It just doesn't seem real! I've seen pictures like that & don't know if they are real or not lol

Well, the moon does appear larger when it's near the horizon - but, it's an illusion (that we still don't have a satisfying scientific explanation for):

As for why it looks so big in that photo, though... it's probably because the photographer stood a long way away from the ruins and zoomed in on them  !
I actually saw the blue moon the other time. One of the days the clouds covered it though. I love the stars and moon… so pretty!

It says they don't really know what causes the illusion lol

I get in awe being outside. Especially in the summer when you have more chances of being a nice night.
