Marlow gave Duane a wave goodbye as he turned to leave, then walked closer to the birds with the two ladies.

"I wonder if it may take us a while to befriend them", he whispered. "Remember last time..."

“Probably, considering how they’re running away.” She pointed. “And what do you mean last time?” She cocked her head. “Maybe it’s best if I don’t ask.”
Cheryl made sure Duane was out of earshot, then turned to whisper into Chloe's ear. "Well, they got a bit aggressive... especially towards Duane. It was kind of his own fault for provoking them and invading their territory - but he was quite badly hurt. Might explain why he's so hesitant to be around them - but then, they surely feel the same way about him :-/ ..."

While they were chatting a little ferret hopped over dooking at the group playfully.
Marlow immediately clutched his bag again when the ferret passed by - he was determined that no one would get the treasure held inside.

"Cheryl, why don't you approach them first?" he said, after recomposing himself. "You had quite the way with them last time."

Chloe giggled at the sight of the ferrets, crouching down, letting them sniff her hands. “Awww…”
Cheryl, on the other hand, was a little more hesitant.

"Well, he is cute and all," she acknowledged, "but... don't some of those birds eat ferrets :-/ ? We'd best try and get him away from here, to somewhere a bit safer..."
