The
July 2022 Forum Contributions are over - and, in the end, only one person received the required number of nominations:
previously received the Golden Cross award in July 2021, for his openness, honesty, and bravery in talking about his anxiety surrounding relationships. Since then, the Mental Health sub-forum has opened, and he's been one of the more active members in that part of the board since then - speaking about his past and present mental health struggles more broadly. Thus, I think it's time we acknowledged this with a second
Golden Cross!
Several other people did get nominated; however, the nominations were split in such a way that Cory was the only one to get the required number. Congrats to him - although, I am hoping for a more competitive poll next time

I noticed that, for some reason, we had two mention plugins installed.
Back in 2018, we installed a plugin called MentionMe. This served us well for over three years, but eventually, its creator stopped maintaining it. Thus, in February 2022, we deactivated it, and replaced it with an alternative called DVZ Mentions. However, we never fully
uninstalled MentionMe - and at some point, it was re-activated, so both were plugins running at once. As a result of this, people were receiving two notifications whenever they were mentioned in a thread.
I have now de-activated MentionMe once again, which should fix this issue (and this time, I've fully removed the MentionMe files from our system, so this shouldn't happen again

But it made me feel more popular than I really was.

If you want 200 notifications per mention, then I'm sure we can arrange that

!!!
I've updated the [instagram] tag, so that it now supports reels.
(This is mainly because
tried to post one, but I saw that it didn't work - so, I fixed it

)
In a
very minor announcement, the
Affiliate Policy and Images can now be found in "Your Sites and Forums", rather than "Announcements and Board Information".
I just thought that:
- "Your Sites and Forums" was a natural place to put it, and;
- "Announcements and Board Information" looked very cluttered with seven pinned threads. It now has a slightly more manageable six
.
Very minor update here... the Discord link in the top menu now shows an actual Discord logo, not just a chat bubble

.
Read-only archives have now been added to the "
Introductions" and "
Happy Birthdays" sub-forums.
I noticed that these threads were prone to being grave-dug (often months after the person joined or had their birthday) - and it was really quite annoying when it happened. My previous attempt to solve this was to set the display cut-off to 20 days - but this just made the older threads harder to access, and it didn't solve the problem anyway.
Hopefully, this will put a stop to it

The "
Thank You/Like" plugin has been upgraded to the latest version (3.4.4). This is fully compatible with PHP 8.x (and indeed, the point of doing this upgrade is that I'd like to update us to PHP 8.x in the near future!)
Let me know if you run into any problems relating to the 'Like' system, and I'll do my best to sort them out

Don't forget who to thank for the idea when you upgrade to PHP 8.
Yours truly, of course.
Ok, j/k.
